I've had some issues with my hair, and I've seen a LOT of dermatologists over the years. Most of them have no clue about hair, or don't know anything besides recommending Rogaine. I made an appointment with Dr. Seaman when I moved here, even though I didn't have much hope that it would be useful. I got an appointment within a week or two. The practice was running fairly on time, and I didn't have to wait long. Dr. Seaman was very thorough, practical, and helpful. She talked to me about my history, examined my hair- did everything she was supposed to do. She then provided me with her likely diagnosis (which I agreed with, and which dermatologists rarely bother to tell me), and discussed some options with me, as well as what I was currently doing. My regimen didn't change based on the visit, but it made me feel more organized and in control of the situation to consult with someone who knew what they were talking about. She also gave me one or two things to think about as to whether or not I feel that they would be beneficial to start. She is super smart and it shows. Saundra cares about her patients. I've been seeing her for years for Rosacea (redness on face) and you'd never know. Why? Dr. Seaman knows how to use lasers to keep it under control. I actually look way better now. Not sure why there are negative reviews about Dr. Seaman. She's always been A+ with me and my family. She has an excellent, educated and smart young staff who know what they are doing and they care about you. Takes a lot to impress me and there is no other derm doc I would recommend. read more

The only reason I'm giving the practice more than 1 star is because of the kindness and professionalism of the nurse practitioners I saw (at the Fairfax location) before the 3rd appointment (when I saw Dr. Seaman today in the Bethesda office location). Apologies in advance for the lengthy review, but I'm absolutely livid about my experience today, so I feel I should be thorough for anyone who is hoping to find a good doctor to treat what, to so many of us, is a very sensitive and serious issue. About 6 months ago, I had some pretty dramatic hair loss (about 30% of my hair all over my head within a month). I am only 33 years old. I was desperate. I read some reviews (clearly not on Yelp) about Dr. Seaman that seemed promising. Also, her office could see me quickly whereas other offices had quite a wait to see the main doctor and didn't have NPs available for appointments, so I took the appointment. I saw a NP at the FFX office near my home and she was caring, thorough, and recommended a number of things to help treat my hair loss - which took time to explain likely happened due to stress from an accident I was in a few months prior. I came back for a follow up appointment and met with another NP, because - lucky me - I developed large pigmentation on my forehead the next month which turned out to be melasma, and was instructed to check on the hair issue as well. I made a follow up before then also to see Dr. Seaman, but had to wait 5 weeks if I wanted to see her in Bethesda (35 minute drive), or 6 weeks if I wanted to see her in Fairfax (right next to my house). I opted for the 5 weeks - I was hopeful. What a mistake! I took a half day from work to drive up to her office in MD and then once I was taken into the exam room, around 10:20 (I was about 10 minutes late - if you *do* go, please note the office looks like a residence, I drove right past it and had to loop around), I had to wait another 30 minutes. Yes. THIRTY. But, she's a doctor. It happens. Patients sometimes need extra care, run late (like I did), so I was patient, I didn't mind, because I was still hopeful that she'd be great at this point. She apologized for being late when she came in at 10:50 (our appointment was at 10:00). I told her "no problem!". She then sat down, looked at my file, and said that it looked like I was dealing with stress hair loss! There were many other things written in my file that she'd clearly ignored. She was winging my appointment. She also told me to "keep taking the Viviscal and other supplements we had prescribed" and I kept telling her they hadn't prescribed; I was already taking those on my own. I was deflated as she kept cutting me off when I was asking her questions about whether or not certain other things may have been affecting the hair loss, and she completely ignored me when I said that I wanted to be tested to find out if it was female pattern hair loss or, indeed, due to stress, since her staff had given me conflicting professional opinions. She just kept on with the appointment and pretended like I never asked. I also asked her if she'd heard of a new supplement I'd added called nutrifol which was recommended by my hair stylist. She hadn't. She asked me what the active ingredients were in it. I said I didn't know, but could look it up, so I pulled out my phone so I could show her; and at this point, she seemed rushed, and annoyed, and actually was visibly sweating. I don't know how backed up she was on her patient list, but she was getting downright snippy with me and had that fake smile plastered on her face the entire time as she rushed me through the rest of the 12-15 minutes she spent with me. When we finally got to talk about the melasma spot on my face, she basically told me that I have a couple options, I'm going to have to live with it, and unfortunately it's the hardest skin condition to treat effectively in dermatology. "You're not alone, lots of people deal with this!" ...uh, great? They're not paying you a $45 copay for you to toss a paper about what microdermabrasion is at them and then tell them to do that with some chem peels in the winter and then boot them out of your office so you can get on with your day. Even if it can't be permanently removed, fine. I can take that. But Dr. Seaman's bedside manor when telling someone "hey, so you're stuck with this horrible blotch in the middle of your face forever," could use some serious work. Basically, I'd rather have taken my half day, gone to my esthetician (who has already told me everything she said and *more*) and spent that $45 on a facial instead of paying to get treated like complete crap when I was looking for guidance and a doctor who, at the very least, takes a little time and care to get to know her patients. If there's anything I hate more than... well... anything, it's an untimely pimple. And fortunately for you, I'm woman enough to admit that I hit up the dermatologists office when things get bumpy... literally. I've been going to Dr. Seaman's offices on and off for years and every time I go back, I ask myself why the hell I ever stopped. The offices are in a medical building right off of 495 in Falls Church with ample parking. The waiting area (being renovated when I last went) is stacked with reading materials and magazines (we have smart phones now, so it isn't like this matters too much). Now, I'll be the first to say getting an appointment with Dr. Seaman is tough. But no fear, the other lady dermatologist is AWESOME, listens to your issues, and addresses them all (just say YES to clear skin). Don't live with caking on makeup... hit up this derm and celebrate awesome skin! They're all about giving coupons, free samples, etc to alleviate some of the costs, so your wallet will have a good time too. read more

I have been going to see Dr. Seaman for various issues for many years. She is a delightful person and never makes me feel rushed. I usually go to the Bethesda office just because the staff is so pleasant and helpful. Besides the positive atmosphere and great staff, Dr. Seaman is intelligent and a great diagnostician. Be aware that since becoming a part of Forefront Dermatology, Dr. Seaman's medical service fees have increased 400%. A common preventive care treatment that cost less than for $400 in 2016 was billed at $1900 in 2018, with a sizable amount not covered by insurance and now my responsibility to pay. There was no communication of the new fee structure, and the level of care received in office does not come close to being worth the out-of-pocket expense. Healthcare Bluebook states that the fair value of this procedure, including labs, to be $800.00 at the top of the market. I will be finding a new doctor. read more

Reading the reviews, a lot of people have issues with the staff. I didn't. I had an issue with the doctor. Someone else said "snobby". I could not agree more. I don't want to get into details about what I was in for but I could tell from a few things that they are just billing up the insurance check that they will receive from me being here. read more

I wished I had taken the time to read a review of Dr. seaman and her staff before going into the office the other day. I will NEVER waste my time going back. First of all, the young girl who works the front desk is clearly miserable working there because she is RUDE. Just an extension of the SNOBBY doctor. Dr. Seaman barely looked at my problems and clearly had NO CLUE on how to treat me clinically. The office was empty which surprised me at first. It wasn't until I was finished that I figured out why! Terrible! I chose to visit her because of the good reviews. Very misleading! She took my concerns lightly and diagnosed me with the wrong thing and left my skin looking worst by her mistaken procedure. On top of that, she also has a passive-aggressive and arrogant attitude. read more

I went to the office in Fairfax (8505 Arlington Blvd) to have a mole check, I have a history of skin cancer. My experience was friendly and professional, an atypical mole was identified and removed. The reason I'm leaving this review is that I had an issue with insurance and Forefront Dermatology worked with me to resolve the problem fairly and quickly. Billing can be a nightmare and can really add to the stress of medical treatment, I want to recognize this practice for following through and for doing the right thing. Dr. Seaman was recommended by a friend. After they mentioned how much they liked Dr. Seaman, I decided to make an appointment at the Fairfax office to look into some acne scaring (ugh embarrassing). My appointment was at 8:30am. I got to the office a little earlier assuming I would have some paperwork to fill out and was taken into an office by 8:35. I think Dr. Seaman came into the room at 8:50a. She came in with two students who just watched and took notes while Dr.Seaman gave me some very detailed options. She was very nice and when I asked about pricing she was very upfront about it, which I really appreciated. She even drew some pictures so I could really understand how the process worked. I felt a lot better after seeing her and will be returning to begin treatments. I may change my review to 5 stars instead if it all works out! read more

I agree with all these reviews, good and bad, must depend on her schedule. I moved to Boston and have not had as good services as Dr. Seaman. I saw her in Bethesda many times. She was able to remove my red blood vessels marks and age spots with one laser treatment (they rent the machines up here, I wait months and then the spots are still there after treatment). Her botox was about the same price but her treatment was more effective. I have also seen her on less than stellar days where she came across as snobby and weird. Overall, she is effective, but if you are at a time where you are emotionally stressed or time sensitive, think twice. read more

Today was my first visit to Dr. Seaman. She is smart, kind and attentive. I don't have much experience with dermatology to use as a benchmark but I was initially impressed. The office is well-run and staff is hands on without overstepping. I felt like I was going to be well taken-care-of upon walking in. Dr. Seaman gets extra points in the workforce development department because she was effectively teaching two PAs with true journeyman skill. Since moving a couple of weeks ago, most of my DC area outings have been to medical appointments. Without intention I have gotten care from all women professionals. I like that! And, as I was with Dr. Seaman, to date I have been impressed by all of them and their caring professionalism, thoroughness and braininess. read more

Great all around experience. Although I don't see a dermatologist consistently, Sandra has been my choice dermatologist for years and is very skilled. She's my go to for anything I have questions about and has done minor surgeries for me with no scarring. I trust her and always feel well taken care of. read more

Dr. Seaman was straight forward and communicative, unlike some other doctors I've had in the past who can't be bothered to explain anything in words that non-doctors will understand. I found her staff to be very unprofessional though. When I was waiting to be seen the young women who work at the desk were gossiping about a patient who comes in for acne treatment. After I came out, one of the ladies who works there very loudly announced my diagnosis to the entire waiting room. Needless to say, I was not impressed by the employees who work there. I will honestly probably go back though because it's so close to where I work and I just need a prescription written once a year. Chose Dr. Seaman largely because of location, probably not the best way to choose a physician but I had minor dermatitis which is not very complicated. Staff and Dr. Seaman were prompt courteous and thorough. I can't speak about more serious conditions or cosmetic procedures. Will refer my wife and teenage daughter to Dr. Seaman. I went to Dr. Seaman's office this morning to look at a cyst on my shoulder. The front desk receptionships were warm, friendly, and helpful. I have been Dr. Seaman's patient since 2005 and have found her to be an outstanding physician. Having seen her for a variety of medical and cosmetic issues over the years, I can attest that she is equally skilled at treating both. Dr. Seaman highly professional in her demeanor, yet she is also friendly and approachable. Her medical and office staff is as well. I have never been treated with anything but courtesy and respect when I have visited Dr. Seaman's office, and I have always felt that I was obtaining superb medical services from her and her medical assistants. I feel fortunate to have discovered Dr. Seaman when I moved to this area eight years ago. Because of her excellent care, Dr. Seaman has earned my respect and loyalty.
