Anyways, my ghost story was somewhere between the transition from the 1st and 2nd floors, just after the room with the piano music playing, my cousin and I were chatting not even during one of the guided portions it was literally during the walking part and someone clear as day shushed me right in my ear, but there wasn't anyone next to us, and my cousin didn't hear the aggressive "shhhhhh!!!". It was weird and freaky, but not scary. Super fun experience, great to learn so much about Sarah and her eccentric life - she's my kind of heiress!

I received an immediate confirmation and additional info, like parking, etc., which I appreciated. They also texted a reminder 24 hours ahead. Parking was a breeze and their lot wasn't full, but that may have been due to it being a dreary Sunday in April. The grounds are nice and we enjoyed walking around a bit before our tour. Lots of vibrant flowers and everything appeared well cared for. There was a private wedding party going on, so some of the grounds were blocked off. Our tour guide, Savanna, was very knowledgeable and seemed to really understand and care about the history of the house. The only problem we had was the size of the group we were put in. Most of the rooms are quite small, as are the hallways and staircases. We couldn't all fit in the room to hear her speak so missed some of what she said. There was another group right behind us, and sometimes I could hear that guide better than my own. They offer discounts for seniors and kids 12 and under, but otherwise is a bit pricey at $48 for adults to spend an hour walking through the house. I was disappointed that none of the furnishings are original. It's just been staged with furniture from the approximate period. We also paid for the basement access, and at $13 each (no discounts) it was an absolute waste. Very little to see there. It's just a basement. The cafe was closed while we were there, which was disappointing. Interesting to read about Sarah Winchester and her house, but not really worth the price to visit.

Lots of great shady sites and some really nice sites right on the river. Showers were nice and reasonably priced. If you are feeling lazy and don't want to cook, you can check out the restaurant/ coffee shop, also a nice little gift shop. There is also a store at the back of the campground that has ice , snacks , firewood and a small laundry facility which was super convenient !! Great woodsy campground with great amenities!!

We stayed two nights at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park and while the scenery is absolutely stunning…read more(as expected for Big Sur), the experience was seriously impacted by poor enforcement and lack of oversight from staff. Right off the bat, our check-in experience was frustrating. We had reserved and paid for an ADA campsite, only to arrive and find someone else already occupying it. Apparently, there is no system in place to verify IDs against reservations, which seems like a huge oversight--especially for ADA-designated spots. After spending time sorting that out, things settled temporarily. Our first night at the Weyland campground quickly went downhill once "quiet hours" (10pm-6am) began. Instead of quiet, the majority of the campground was loud, playing music, and talking well into the night--until nearly 4am. There was zero enforcement of quiet hours, and no visible presence from a camp host or ranger to address it. It honestly felt more like a free-for-all than a state park campground. Hoping for a better experience, we moved to the South campground for our second night. Unfortunately, things got worse. The bathroom across from Site 45 was in unacceptable condition. The ADA shower stall took three of my paid shower tokens without working, and to make matters even worse, there was literal human feces on the floor. Not just dirty--completely unsanitary and clearly not being maintained. We attempted multiple times to contact the camp host about both the bathroom situation and earlier noise issues, knocking several times with no response. It was incredibly frustrating to have no support or accountability when problems came up. It's really disappointing because this park is naturally beautiful and has so much potential. But the lack of basic management--no ID checks for reservations, no quiet hour enforcement, and poorly maintained facilities--completely takes away from the experience. It honestly feels like the park is being let down by the very people responsible for running it. Would love to return someday, but until there are major improvements in oversight and maintenance, it's hard to justify coming back.

They were really great at communication and promptness; they showed up to my house with one of those Matador(?) machines that take a 3D image of the space, like you see in real estate listings. When I needed Daniel's signature on a drawing to get permit approval, he coordinated to meet with me in downtown SF to sign docs so I wasn't delayed in getting approval, which I really appreciated. I just reached out to them again for another project that I wanted to start, and Jose was very upfront with me that my project was probably too large for their firm, but he followed up quickly with several referrals that I could use. I'm always impressed with their level of professionalism and support and would definitely use them for another project in the future!

It wasn't really "scary" but we learned a lot and it was fun. One note - it was confusing trying to figure out where to meet. I do think that they should mention that you meet at Colton Hall when they give you the address, instead of just giving you the street address. My son and I had to wander around the neighborhood for a little while to figure out where to go. Luckily, we heeded their advice to get there 15 minutes early so we were still able to be on time.

It's a History to Me…read more Part of the Monterey State Historic Park, the Pacific House was constructed in 1847 and was meant to be used as storage for the US Navy during the occupation of Monterey. It has since served as a courthouse, pub, newspaper office-and even a church! These days, the two-story adobe building houses quite an impressive collection of Native American artifacts and other relics of a bygone era. The Good: *It's free! *If you're a lover of Native American artifacts, then this is a must-see. *If you're a history buff, then this place is def a must-visit, as well. The Meh: *Place can be a bit cramped if you're an ogre such as myself. The Ugly: *Parking to get here is a bit tricky. There is some free street parking, but you're limited on time (please read the signage), which is OK as you can really see the whole State Park in probably less than 2hrs. Unless, of course, you want to convince your visit to the nearby wharf, in which case you might want to think about paying at an actual lot. TLDR: Fantastic place for lovers of history of all kinds. Highly recommended.
