Probably the worst experience I have ever had with a business. I needed 120 sq. ft. of carpet for…read moremy sons recently renovated room, now mind you Mayo's has done all the flooring in my house since I built it, and they always treated me well. This time is a different story, and I believe it is because the owner now runs the flooring department rather than gentleman that ran it when all of my other flooring was done. First, I showed up and picked out the carpet, that went relatively smooth other than the odd hours that they have help in flooring department. Next the owner/head of flooring came and took a measurement, the actual measuring went okay, however after this is when the real nightmare started. A day or two after the measuring was complete the owner called to give me the estimate, he told me it would cost $1146.13, I was a bit surprised by this considering the carpet was $2.95 per sq. ft., the labor was $2.50 sq. ft., and the pad was $.69 per sq. ft, remember the room is 15'x8', 120 sq. ft. Even though I felt this was high I told him to go ahead and get it as they always treated me right and performed quality work. The owner told me he would order the carpet and asked that I swing in with a deposit, I said no problem. The day I dropped off the deposit I asked for an itemized copy of the quote which they gladly gave me, I then proceeded to call other flooring businesses to ask if the quote was accurate, what I found out from calling the other businesses is that I was being over charged by almost $500. First off, they should have ordered a 15' wide piece of carpet instead of 12' this wasted 63 sq. ft., this I can sort of understand and was okay with until I realized that they were also charging me to install the piece that they cut off and handed to me, that is totally dishonest according to two other flooring businesses, they also charged me for pad the same size as the original piece of carpet not just what they put down, this is also very dishonest as they don't generally throw any pad away, it can be pieced together. At this point it was too late to back out as I had already put down a 50% deposit and the carpet was ordered, I just figured well it cost quite a bit more, but the work quality will be excellent, well guess what I figured wrong. They sent one young gentleman to perform the install, first my wife had to help him get the carpet in the room, second, he damaged the brand-new trim in at least a half a dozen spots and the edging was horrific. Do not use this business for anything, they are complete crooks and even when you call them out they do not care, they did not offer to fix the damage or adjust any of the pricing, now I know why you never see any cars in their driveway.
