A chain store of a large corporation, so there's a lot here you know you can expect... Large,…read morebright, standardized prices, for starters. Bakery, flowers, deli, lottery, pharmacy and a Starbucks inside flesh things out. Ample parking, although on one side of the parking lot it's more than a bit awkward. Pedestrians take note, it's not easy to follow the cross walks of you're on the "wrong" søde to get to the store. It's larger than it looks from the outside. A section for healthier choices, mostly not-so-healthy choices, some organic options. It takes me a bit to find things usually... It's never where I expect. Which means I need help, to ask someone. Well, in 20 years since I lived in Cranbrook, and now even I come to visit, I've never seen a staff member on the floor. Behind the counter, stocking, at the till, yes. But never just to help people... You'll have to grab someone if you have a question, and even then, they may not know. They're probably on their way to /from a break. Next to the health food store, this is usually the most expensive place in town to get groceries. Still, the produce is solid and rarely do I have to wait for a till (or, à self serve till). All in all it's okay. Nothing to write home about. Solid. Nothing where I'd say, "I have to go to Safeway!" unless something was on sale.

We will never shop at Coop in Pincher Creek, Alberta again. Here's the outcome. It cost us 14.00 for the 2 salads. For Coop this is a drop in the bucket. Coop will lose thousands of dollars from lost income because of the decisions the staff made that day. Goodbye Coop Pincher Creek, Alberta. Hello to your competitor.

Actually this is a Amish owned general store that serves a Friday night buffet and Saturday morning buffet. And weekday hamburgers. But we've only so far had the Friday night buffet. First off you have to travel up through beautiful country to get there across the Koocanusa Lake then up the Yak Valley, and before we got there on the side of the road was some Amish children selling baked goods with their mother. Of course we stopped and practically bought them out. Once there you go into the store and you are directed into the back where there is a buffet set up. A salad bar then the first time we visited it was meatloaf, baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, homemade bread, two kinds of pie and beverages all you can eat. Second time basically the same menu except no meat loaf, it was roasted pork loin and baked beans instead of green beans. Then when you go up to the grocery store to check out you are tempted by all of their homemade goodies. She was at the customer service desk the first time I saw her. She is very friendly and super helpful. She even offered to carry my purchases to my car for me. The second one that impressed me was Shannon. She is always bright and bubbly and funny. People like her make going through the checkout a joy instead of a pain.
