You walk into a long line MOST of the time, they don't give you all of your mail. I have several pieces of mail that will show it's available in Informed Delivery but when I get to the Post Office to pick it up, they claim they don't have it and I will return for weeks receiving one piece of mail at a time. A few weeks ago, according to Informed Delivery, I had at least 15-20 pieces of mail and 2 packages to pick up but they only gave me ONE piece of junk mail when I reached the counter so I asked for a manager because COME ONNNN! Needless to say, the manager came out to speak with me and then went back and 5 minutes later, returned with a huge stack of mail...really?? Because why didn't they give me my mail initially? Why'd I have to ask for a manager in order to get the mail? and to top it off, as I'm driving home, I stop at a stop light right near my home and sift through the stack only to find a check that belonged to someone else I didn't know. Good thing her name was uncommon and she had a TikTok. I found her quickly and she was so grateful. I took her the mail myself because she was closer to me at the time than the post office was and had I returned it to them she likely would've never gotten it. We are waiting for important mail once again and NOTHING when we go to the post office. This is absolutely insane!!! Hopefully if someone receives my mail they will return the favor. Pay it forward because we all need to look out for one another in this situation. I hope this is resolved soon. But even through it all, the staff here are all extremely polite and friendly and always remain professional in my experience.

This site is across the parking lot from the Manatee Observation and Education Center in Ft. Pierce. So, after finishing at the Manatee Center we made the mandatory pilgrimage across the parking lot in search of more travel literature. As visitor centers go, this one was clean, bright and staffed by a couple of very pleasant and helpful ladies. It was a bit light in the area of available travel related literature. Still worth the stop.

He was a self trained artist who painted Florida landscapes. He launched the movement of the Highwaymen who were a group of artists around the Fort Pierce area who quickly created Florida folk art featuring landscapes from oil paints on Uppson board used as roof sheeting. From 1950-1980 they would anonymously sell the art out of the trunks of their cars on A1A and US 1 from Daytona to Miami. After Backus became established as an artist he was able to purchase the Platt House built by Dr. Platts in 1896 at 122 Avenue C to use as a new art studio. It was close to his former studio so he would not lose clients from the move. He continued creating art here from 1960 until his death from a heart attack in 1990. Today the original Platts-Backus House has been restored as the headquarters of Main Street Fort Pierce. The street in front of the house was renamed A.E. Backus Avenue in honor of Fort Pierce's famous artist. The house is now used as an art gallery and to host art exhibitions.

I recently needed help moving my elderly stepdad within the home, and it was after 11pm, so I…read moredidn't want to possibly wake my neighbors. My stepdad is normally able to help us move him by providing some strength (he's a big guy), but that night he was fighting a UTI and just didn't have any strength to give. I couldn't move him by myself. I heard that the Fire Department could assist us, and so I called. They were wonderful and sent 2 paramedics right out. The two guys were really great and they make short work of moving him. I thanked them for this amazing service and they were so gracious and friendly. Wouldn't even take a tip. I would not use such a service on any regular basis because I know these folks have much more important work to do, but in that moment where I was truly out of options, it was a lifesaver. We are so lucky to have such a great fire department!

Where is no need for a siren. Or sounds like you can hardly wait to used it cause you haven't gotten any calls...? It doesn't make any sense. All there is more noise added to the city.
