His behaviors became increasingly erratic, needing family to stay with him 24/7, even though he was in Assisted Living. 3 ER trips in 3 days, physicians at the ER were all saying "this is end of life" - but the smaller hospice couldn't support us with the services we needed - basically, keeping him comfortable, calmed, able to rest, and not so fearful. We made the call to HOV and that same day, EVERYTHING was being addressed. He went from literally trying to climb the walls, injuring himself, thinking there were killers hiding in his shower, to resting quietly. We were kept updated by the compassionate HOV team. This made everything so much easier. The stress on family during this time is unbelievable - to know your loved one is in such great care, that we don't have to be there 24/7 while juggling work, home, kids, etc. is an incredible weight lifted. I've also worked with HOV on numerous occasions for work. As a nurse, I'm confident in recommending HOV. I also needed the 8 hours of training mandated by AZ for dementia care - and HOV provided that for free to our entire staff and did a tremendous job. My Father was admitted first to Desert Blossom in Mesa, AZ for rehabilitation after a major fall ,…read moreand previous hospital discharge . When I tell you, it was the worst facility that I've ever experienced. From the CNA's To the Nursing Staff. The smell of urine hit you from entrance to room access, I witnessed consistent call lights going off, horrible food, and the worst patient care ever!!!! I wouldn't put any family member in this place period!!! I worked diligently with his case manager, Pam, who was the only one who cared enough to help me get my Father out of that hell hole. He has been transferred to Banner Rehabilitation Hospital in Phoenix located on 3rd Street and Indian School. On entrance, the staff greets you with a smile. The level of cleanliness is everything. The private room that my Father was provided has given him a level of comfort. I see the light back in his eyes, which has encouraged him to push himself during his seven days a week, rehabilitation program. There has not been one time that I've visited or called to check on my Father where he's not being tended to by staff with tender loving care. On every visit, I walk in feeling warm and fuzzy, knowing my Father is somewhere people are going to treat him with love, kindness, integrity, and respect. At Desert Blossom he developed bed sores, including a major one on his foot. The new level of care at Banner Rehabilitation Hospital is helping Father to rapidly heal, emotionally and physically. I truly want them to know how grateful I am for the level of care. He is currently receiving. If I could put 30 stars, I surely would. We exchanged Happy New Years before our informal Meeting. Suddenly Tim reached under his desk And place a Red Bag on his desk. Along side he placed A piece of cake covered with Sprinkles. In the Red Base was Hot Wheels Car , my first, a Fridge Magnate, An Orange Marker 4 pieces of assorted Chocolate. A Stone Ridge Pad . Also Caplin Tim included his business card and tapped to the side of my Birthday Goodie Bag was a Birthday card signed by the Director of Operations, I met her, 1 of the 2 Social Workers, and the receptionist who is waiting to be tested so she can assume RN duties for the Hospice. However, if you are a family member…read morelooking for hospice services for a family member, it is comforting to be able to search out as much information as you can, from others who have walked before you. My mother spent her last week on earth at The Serenity House. It sounds old-fashioned and corny, but finding them was the "God send" I was looking for and needing. I was feeling lost and frightened about the process of caring for my Mom in her last days. Physically and emotionally it can be challenging. You love you family and want to take care of them, but the time may come that you need supportive services. The staff at Serenity House were very competent and caring. My Mom was very well cared for and I appreciate how they would brace her with pillows to keep her comfortable and relief pressure. The facility was always clean and the workers all genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs and seemed to relate well and respect one another. It is worth noting that it is a very lovely facility and the rooms were very nice. I owe them a debt of gratitude for not only what they did for my Mom (who had dementia) and really slept her whole time there, it is was they provided me. A sense of caring, safety and support in the days up to my Mom passing away. They took the burden and lifted it off my shoulders and I thank them for that.

My Mom moved into D&L adult care on 4/4/24. I last saw her on 4/2 at a Banner rehab facility. She…read morewas in great spirits and was on the mend from her neck surgery in March. I began receiving text messages from my brother that he was concerned about her care. She wasn't sleeping due to the noise and she said they treated her like luggage and were very rough with her. On the afternoon of 4/9 I received a text from my brother the her edema had spread from one leg to both legs and her arms. Her oxygen was at 87. He requested an ambulance for her to go to the hospital and she passed away a few hours later. My Mom had many drug allergies and I'm not sure anyone paid attention to the potential side effects of the pain meds she was given for 4 days. Side effects which include low oxygen and swelling in the arms and legs. I feel my Mom's care was subpar and her care did not seem to be a priority as her health quickly declined in the 5 days she was there. We paid $4000 for her 5 days there. We requested a partial refund for the days before she arrived as well for the remainder of the month. To our dismay that request was denied. We thought she was in a safe place now we are left without our Mom and are despondent about her final days under their care.

It's a terribly stressful decision to place a loved one into a facility such as this…read more Unfortunately, you're forced to rely on strangers to provide your family member with care, and in our case, I feel they failed my grandmother and in doing so, failed our entire family. While the staff seemed nice and the house appeared clean, my grandmother complained that the staff was rough with her and that she experienced quite a bit of pain when being moved around. She had recently had neck surgery so you'd assume that they would have taken extra precautions to ensure her comfort. Additionally, she began to experience severe edema and when the staff was asked about it, our family was told that it was "normal". The edema became so severe that she was literally leaking fluid from her legs and the staff simply put pads under her to protect the mattress. Meanwhile, my poor grandmother was left in wet clothes because her legs continuously leaked. Sadly, the situation became even worse and the edema moved up to her arms and the skin on her legs began to split, at which point staff contacted us and they were instructed to transfer her to the ER, where just 9 hours later, she passed away. She was in the care of this facility for six days. Just SIX days before dying. Our family paid $4000 for six days of, what I feel, was sub par treatment and we're now left wondering if we made a terrible mistake by choosing this facility. (I'd also like to add that they kept the full $4000 for the 5 1/2 days she was there. That's a cost of nearly $730 per day.)

Hospice of the Valley persists at forcing Yelp to remove my review…read more Nurse 'Laura' virtually killed my father by minimizing care, creating an 'Atmosphere of Death,' by discouraging me from taking my father to emergency room while he continued to gasp for breath. Laura mentioned that my father could 'die enroute to hospital,' and that 'doctor would remove existing fluids from his lungs in the morning.' Callously, Laura spoke about my father's imminent death issue WHILST MY FATHER WAS CONSCIOUS AND AWARE OF HER MALICIOUS,CRUEL ADVICE. I left facility shortly thereafter, as Laura discouraged fire department from removing father to hospital,subsequent to my having phoned 911 Laura is an 'Angel of Death,' and should not be a medical professional. If you love your family member, STAY AWAY FROM HOSPICE OF THE VALLEY.
