Once again, I was greeted by a young man who was incredibly helpful, and I ended up purchasing several beautiful pieces. One of my favorites is this stunning red, white, and blue African print sequin dress--I absolutely love, love, love it! When I returned to Utah, I shopped my own closet and discovered the perfect accessories: my white Christian Louboutin patent leather sandals with the iconic red soles and my coordinating white Christian Louboutin handbag with the signature red interior. Initial rep told me the suit (which total w a couple shirts and ties and a pair of dress shoe/boots…read morewas $3,000) had lifetime alterations. Exact quote, "if you gain a few LBs or lose a few LBs just let me know and I'll get you measured and we will alter it for free for the life of the suit" Well fast forward 3.5 mo later-i happened to lose about 14 pounds and went from 35 to 33.5 waist which the pants were right on the cusp of too big in the waist before so now they had to Be taken in. The rep, no longer there of course The new guy sets an appt to come measure and pick up. Turns into a sales pitch for him and 20 min later I had to tell him I didn't have time to view his entire spring catalog today. So he measures, tells me not to lose any lore weight before the pants come and asks me how I will be paying for the $42 alteration I explained that I didn't have to pay and he says oh...yeah we don't offer that, that's not a thing. I said well it is a thing because it was used in my sales pitch and promised as part of the deal... he argued with me and I called my old reps cell phone and on speaker he said yes he did say that. He took my pants and said he would have to call his boss. 3 weeks later no call, no pants. Another week goes by so I call and new rep says he had them in his car "for a few days" just had to find time to run them by... they looked like they had been taken in about 1/2 inch to 34.5 and barely stayed up. Suit hasn't been worn in a while. Disappointing service! The fact that no one from their corporate wing sees these reviews and attempts to remedy or at least figure out why so many people have bad experiences with them and fix them. I'd say product is a C+ maybe B- and service is D. KMC

I've been extremely happy with the fit and finished of the items. I've read reviews on Yelp, as well as on other sites, in which people complain about dishonest sales tactics and over-persistence. Akia has been the total opposite of those things and has been quite professional. Her job is to generate sales. People need to understand that the Tom James sales reps build their business from referrals. They don't advertise in on the web or on television. With that said, if you meet with a rep, realize that they are going to do their best to figure out what styles you like and to sell you items that fit that style. You just have to be firm about what you will and will not do in terms of committing to buy "on the spot."

When I worked in Buckhead, I often would escape my suffocating cubicle by checking out the…read moreboutiques off Piedmont Road, and one of them was the Bilthouse--an enchanting little cottage tucked away on East Paces Ferry. I got sucked into one of the boutique's sales: "Buy one item at full price, get two more items free." Or something like that. I ended up purchasing an expensive Free People sweater (lavender rabbit fur with two white buttons to undo the neckline, along with lace over the shoulders, complemented by multi-colored stitching). For free, I chose a pair of hippie-flower gauchos (which are so out of style now and already were out the door at the time) and a very mod, block-color skirt. I still wear the sweater and skirt, so I'd say I fell for a pretty sweet deal. I must agree with Lauren S. that the clothing, overall, reminds me of sorority girls and their stay-at-home mothers. But, sprinkled among the Phi Mu mess are cool styles, reminiscent of Free People funk. I am most fond of the Bilthouse's pieces of decor--or at least when I shopped there last. I couldn't help myself and bought a folk art butterfly, with a chair leg body and rusted iron wings. This place is rather pricey but is worth a look if you're in the Buckhead area on a much-needed shopping binge.
