Really great experience at the Sawdust Factory! We had our 5-year-old daughter's birthday party there and it went so smoothly!! Heidi was awesome! She kept the party rolling and on schedule and totally relieved the stress that comes with coordinating a kids birthday party. My daughter and her friends had such a great time and do many parents were enjoying themselves too. It was such a stress free experience! Definitely would recommend!! All we did was have to handle the invitations and the food. The venue handled the rest!

Had such an amazing expeirience here today! Heidi was awesome and accommodated us last minute. I created a st. Paddy's day sign and my son made a race car. The staff was super helpful and informative and Heidi went above and beyond to help us the whole time. The attention to detail here was clearly shown and the quality of the crafts was unlike any we have tried over the years. Overall highly recommend this place!

We came here for a kindergarten school field trip. The kids learned about the different types of wood they use and the various saws that are used to cut the wood. There are many projects to choose from. Our was preselected and they chose the Tic Tac Toe board. They provided each child and parent with an apron and let use chose our colors. After coloring we got to personalized it with some sponge shape design before drying and assembling. The whole process took about an hour. It was a lot of fun! As we were leaving, I noticed they were setting up for a birthday party. The people there were very friendly and kind. I would come back here if it wasn't so far for us. But I would definitely recommend to go check them out. It's a great place for a field trip or party.

I took my son this past weekend 06/26 for his "mini party". We wanted something different, so I yelped kids places local and found the Sawdust factory. Price wise, super reasonable. They have various of options for parties. I opted to allow for the painters to pick their own item. Castles were a big thing for the girls and cars/jets for the boys. Space wise, we were the only "party" that afternoon..which worked because Heidi was on her own. She was super patient when working with all the kids, as painting and designing things can be a process for kids. We had tables for the kids to paint and space for adults to sit. There are two sides to the area.. so more than enough space for everyone. Overall, my 11-year-old enjoyed his party, which is all that mattered to me.

My 3 year old had a blast today... thank you Heidi & staff! I'd taken my boys here when they were little and they enjoyed the creative time and painting too. Booking a time slot online is easy with their website and everyone there is so helpful and patient with little children. They have clean, organized, and easy to follow stations and so many options to choose from as far as projects go. We'll definitely be back!

Elizabeth is a well-known, seasoned artist who is still teaching and proudly says she "will never…read moreretire." It truly is an honor to be her student. I'm currently taking watercolor lessons with her, and today was my second class. What makes Elizabeth so special is that she teaches far beyond painting. She shares years of wisdom and experience about both art and life. Every class has a real lesson plan and homework. She starts with the basics, works with you on what you want to learn, and personally checks your work, writing progress notes in her beautiful handwriting. She teaches techniques and approaches that you simply don't find on YouTube. Today she taught me the steps of "drawing three ways," "sit and think in color," "block," and "paint." She also lent me two of her watercolor books on tips and techniques to study at home. She generously lends books every week and even gave me a palette with her colors from her tubes. She spends time helping you choose the right paints and brushes and every week she gives me two sheets of watercolor paper and said, "Go play with it." That encouragement alone made me smile. "Choose (to paint) what inspires you..a thought, a dream, an image or real life" One of my favorite lessons from her has nothing to do with technique. She taught me never to say "I messed up." Instead, say "It wasn't supposed to be this way." What a beautiful way to look at art -- and life. Elizabeth is not just a teacher. She gets to know you as a person, listens to you, and somehow feels a little like a therapist, too. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students. She also does drawing and watercolor and is starting Expressive art therapy sessions soon! At $60 per class, I feel I'm getting so much more than a watercolor lesson. I'm getting an education, mentorship, encouragement, creativity, and wisdom from someone with decades of experience. If you have the opportunity to learn from Elizabeth, take it! I feel very fortunate to be her student.

I have attended individually and also group art lessons at the studio and on zoom. All formats were successful, and engaging. I learned painting and art techniques such as contrast, composition, landscapes and abstracts using water color, acrylics, collage, and alcohol inks. Her lessons are always fresh, creative, and fun. Elizabeth inspires you to use your imagination and creativity and had an art show inviting all her students to display their work. She also offers creative journaling for the participant to empower themselves regarding life's challenges such as heath, career, stress, life's transitions such as retirement and relationships. Elizabeth is passionate about art!

IDK why anyone looking at colleges would come to Yelp for the review, but as it is listed I will…read morereview it. Reflections on transfer student experience: Quickly integrated into social events and groups. Many many offerings including about 5 BSU-related events in 4 days. Each campus has its own BSU, plus there is the office of Black Student Affairs, and so much overlap. Though the overall percentage of Black students could be higher, the ability to find one's people and be supported by the school is great so far. (and there are many professors of color) Lots of new-school-year plant-related events and artsy events (make ___ for your dorm decor and get to know people kind of thing) Professors: there are good and bad everywhere, but so far all professors are great and classes are happening at Pitzer, Pomona, CMC. Treatment of transfers: a little slow. They seem to forget they have transfers at key moments, so resilience when first onboarding is needed. Not a reason to reject Pitzer, just something to prepare for. Academic Accommodations: slow from this office. Much promised but seems so far like students have to bug the office for what is due. Not a reason to reject Pitzer, just something to prepare for. Libraries: as non-students taking a self-guided tour, looks good. Lots of different types of spaces in the beautiful main library, including 2 treadmill desks!. Scripps has a little library that is so pretty. Lovely garden spaces: the Botanic Gardens are HUGE and right next to the CCA (campus-owned apartments where many upperclass can live). Campus has newly revised student garden and associated club. Many lovely spaces on campus to appreciate. Cute downtown has enough to cater to college kids. As with any college decision, student must find the vibe and finances that match them, but Pitzer has much to offer if these 2 things are in line for you.
