Sun Valley Animal Center - Exam focused of July. Focus on what? Certainly not on my dog issues.

I went to sun valley for a second option referral to give my dog a CT or mri. All they did for my…read moredog was x-rays when I had asked for further investigation on my dog. As well am almost lead to believe they could have possibly falsified my dog or given me incorrect x-rays as when they were looking at my dog they refused to look at X-rays from intermountain vet clinic and pushed to do their X-rays and forced me to redo the X-rays on my dog. For all I know they could have been looking at the wrong dog's x-rays when I could clearly tell that they had several other x-rays up onon their computer and barely sharing empathy for my dog. Just caring about doing extra X-rays which they only did to and not a through investigation of what could be potentially going on with my dog or what could have caused his limp. As well changing the side of my dog's limp via when trying to push their evidence down my throat. Then going oh, what it looks like is your dog's growth plates probly fused there's nothing we can do. When I had drove 4 or so hrs to even get to the clinic.

So get that.... In July, my vet diagnosed my puppy with hip…read moredyplesia and referred me to Dr. Randy Hacker for second opinion and treatment options. I called Sun Valley Animal center to get an appointment. I talked to Denise, who wanted to schedule a total hip replacement right away (without even seeing my dog or her x-rays. That should have been a big red flag but, the reviews were good so I moved forward). I told her that I would rather have an evaluation first, to make sure that was what my dog needed. She, reluctantly, gave me an appointment with Dr. Randy Acker. During my appointment with Dr. ACKER, he looked at my dog, (didn't look at the x-rays, until I mentioned it) then, proceeded to tell me about his accomplishments and showing me his PowerPoint about hip dysplasia. He, several times, told me that my dog needed total hip replacement and that, since we were doing one side, we should go ahead and do both sides. After the consultation, ($81), I was pushed to schedule, right away and pay $4250 up front. Which I did. 3 months later, went for the surgery and Dr. Randy Hacker said: - what hip are we doing? (???) - Then proceeded to check my dog hips and shoulders (like he never saw her before) - Looked at the x-rays from July (that he looked at in August already) - Decided to make her walk, to see her gait, and conclude her hips were fine, so were her elbows and that she didn't need surgery.($191 for the exact same examination that he did 3 months prior and that he charged me $81 for). But, he will go ahead and have x-rays done to confirm ($$$$). (Still not sure why he didn't do that the first time, I went to see him in August. Instead of trying to sell me 2 total hip replacement from the get go). Then, he told me that, she was just clumsy, giant breed are generally clumsy (that's the same guy that wanted to do a double hip replacement on my dog, 3 months earlier) Told him, it's more than clumsy. Her brother is not like that, and she fell and had a wobbly walk. He said then, maybe a pinched nerve. But then she shouldn't be able to jump. I suggested wobbler syndrom. He said maybe. And decided to do a complete body x-rays (shoulders, front legs, hips, and spine) and BAM!!!! SHE HAS THE C6 CERVICAL VERTEBRAE (VERTEBRAE IN HER NECK) AND L-S TIPPING, PINCHING THE SPINAL CORD. Thanks to me, for finding out, she may have wobbler syndrom. So , instead of trying to sell me double hip replacement, Dr. Randy Acker, should have tried to investigate the first time he saw teacup, during his orthopedic evaluation. She could have been on prednisone since august. But, NO!!!! Too busy trying to sell his products and trying to impress. I'm MAD!!!! I paid a first orthopedic evaluation in August, for nothing, as he barely looked at my dog's x-rays (only looked because I asked him to), spent most of the "evaluation" talking about his accomplishments and showing me his PowerPoint on hip replacement. Not once was he concern about my dog. He was so certain she needed 2 total hip replacement but, 3 months later she improved and doesn't need it anymore (???). That should have been my big red flag. But, he had good review and was renowned so... I trusted him. Well... so much for that. I guess I should be happy that my dog didn't need surgery. But, I still think I shouldn't have to pay for an evaluation that was not done properly the first time.

Short version: These people do not care. I regret not driving to Boise…read more Long story: I took my dog in for a raised spot on his hip, about the size of a dime and half an inch high. Concerned, I asked Dr. Jeremiah about Stelfonta, an injection treatment that worked well for my brother's dog in Nevada. Instead of discussing it, Dr. Jeremiah lectured me about relying on internet research over his 20 years of experience. I apologized, explaining I meant no disrespect and offered to be the first client of his to try Stelfonta, even providing the website and offering to take daily photos of the process he could have for his use (stelfonta.com). He claimed familiarity, comparing it to a horse cream, despite my clarification that it's an injection. He convinced me to proceed with surgery to remove the mass, promising to research Stelfonta and use it if it recurred. A week later, the night before surgery, I completed an electronic form with my dog's photo and my contact information. The next morning, the understaffed clinic required a new photo and re-entered my information due to a system issue. Dr. Jeremiah, when asked what he thought about Stelfonta, again referenced a cream, showing he hadn't researched it as promised. I regret not taking my dog and leaving then. I waited for a pickup call that never came. At 4 p.m., I called and learned they had my cell number wrong, despite having it correct on the form I had filled out from home. Post-surgery, I used an inflatable cone alternative (D&B $30), two people stopped to ask where I had found it and what it cost. I was told it was much more affordable than the clinic's options. Two weeks later, my 86-lb shepherd mix refused to go back into the clinic for stitch removal, panicking. Unable to carry him in, I removed the stitches myself at home. I'm so very disappointed by my experience here.

They worked hard to help me do the best for my standard poodle with kidney disease. Harli went out of her way to earn his trust on his 4 day stay which put my mind at ease. They are thorough with their exams, take the time to answer ALL your questions, and always took my concerns seriously when I knew something was "off" with my boy and worked to get him in ASAP. When it came time to let him finally rest, all of us in the room had tears. That speaks volumes to me. They are family at this point. There is mention in other reviews that they don't answer the phone but they are REALLY responsive with texts and I have found that works better than multiple calls. Yes, they are not taking new clients but when they are, I suggest you high-tail it over there. Bonus: They take Care Credit!!!

They show concern, are attentive, and they are helpful. Their prices beat other vet clinics too. I don't really care for their call system, but their texting system is easier to get through. If you leave a vm or text, they do get back with you. They are no longer taking patients. But if you are already hooked up with them, you are in good hands! I also like that they see large animals and farm animals. I have not officially worked here. I am not a x coworker... but I have done Veterinarian shadowing here before and "filled in or worked/assisted" here before. I shadowed 5 different Veterinarian clinic in the area. Only this place and 1 other vet clinic treated animals with care behind the scenes. They were careful and not rough. They do not man handle your pet whether conscious or unconscious. They are careful when holding/gripping a pet. They do not throw your pet. And so many other things that I witnessed at other Vet clinics... they are great here! This a huge thing to me. Because I am an animal lover like many others. And care for the pet's well being. Valley View is a great establishment!

We have had a vet here in Twin Falls that we have seen for years. Every visit the office charge went up as well as the procedures and meds. We were told they were booked for surgery and my cat could not get in for 6 weeks! They also gave us 4 different estimate procedures with prices that were unbelievable. Dr. Schabacker gave us an estimate which we agreed to. He actually pulled 2 teeth and the total bill was less! He also cleaned her teeth for free. The doctor came in at 2:05 and was very nice and took good care of my dog's needs. As I checked out the staff (now 3 of them behind the counter) never offered a smile or an apology (or excuse) for the 1 hour late appointment time. I am giving one star due to front desk staff and wait time with no explanation.
