I don't know about giving this place 5 stars. Eating out everyday can get really expensive so I…read morethought to find q more local place and I came looking for a place that maybe would be less than $25 per person. Which is what I am typically spending for a dinner near the beach. Food was good but not amazing or anything. Ambience def a 3. Music so loud and no one was there to dance yet and bathroom had no toilet paper. More or less typical food you find anywhere. Waited a long while for the food. Location was blah it's inside more, in residential district Barrio Corcovado near Hatillo quite a ways in from the number 2. Prices were same as I would pay in Islote and I've got the ocean hitting the rocks practically under my Feet. Yesterday I paid $18.99 for my meal which was fish and included rice, beans and mofongo. This time I ordered same and it looks like it's cheaper at $13.95 but they include only 1 side so the tostones were extra. Basically coming out to the same price as by the beach in Alcazar. Not really my kind of place but if in area, will stop in for lunch as lunch can't be beat. Locals say it's known for lunch, they have lots of options and only $5.95!

We had come here for an afternoon snack and drinks as we were walking around old San Juana and the forts all day and had gone to one fort and ready to move to the next after a bite. This was the perfect meal to hold us over. Not so greasy and not too filling. The drinks were just average but refreshing after hours in the sun. The atmosphere is casual and busy and loud. However, the service was quick even with them being busy. I highly recommend the beef stew with mofongo and coming here even if it's just for that!

The wait was usual for Old San Juan. About 30-45mins. They take your name down and call you when there's a table ready. What they don't tell you is that the menu is a QR code on the table. Once you figure that you see a well organized and simple 2 pages menu with many PR authentic dishes listed. The waiter comes about 10-15mins later. And it's best to have all your order ready as they don't come back very often. The place is usually packed all the hours that they're open. Food: that's why they lost a star. Rice and beans, Madurai/amarrillos, scurrilous, delicious 5 stars, but the bigger, empanada, chicken with garlic lack the bite that you come to expect of PR food! They lack taste, "Sazon", they were bland and tasted more like someone forgot to season them and forgot the garlic. I'd tell them to go back to their food and make PR food like it's supposed to taste, not for the tourist, please!

We felt a little underdressed in our hiking clothes, this would be a great place to dress up and have a dinner out. The service was amazing- and the food was 4/5. The empanadas were DELICIOUS- definitely the highlight of our lunch. The rest of the dishes were good- the fresh caught red snapper was deep fried- which took away the experience of it being fresh. Coconut Shrimp, Salmon, Mahi Mofungo, Seafood Paella were all good- not the best ever- but the whole experience was perfect.

We were seated fairly quickly, in the inside part of the business as there were "no seats outside" - that wasn't the case. The server came promptly to take our order: @drinks - mojito, sangria, water and a soda. The sangria tasted like pouch sangria poured into a glass and the mojito had little to no rum. @Starters - marine sampler, which was greasy and overly cooked. @main dishes - paella marinera for 2, lobster tail, and stuffed mashed plantains with ceti (local fish). My overall impression of the main dishes wasn't great for the price we paid for the meal ($$$). The paella for two lacked flavor and the seafood wasn't properly cleaned (the shellfish had the poop vein); the lobster wasn't local and tasted weird; the stuffed plantains with ceti were very salty. For the latter we offered our feedback to the server and she just took the plate away, without offering any substitutions or following up. Enough to say that I'll not be coming here again. The price of the food goes beyond the quality and service. The only nice thing about the place its the view, which we got to see through a window.
