My cousin broke her leg and asked me to take her golden retriever and yellow lab to sBarkles because they were getting a little ripe. I am comfortable washing med-large dogs but I wasn't so sure if the newer of the two (the golden) would be too jazzed about me taking him to this new place to be washed. I had been with my cousin to wash the lab at sBarkles so she was a cinch, but one of the owners had to help me lift the golden into the bathtub and gave me a little overview on the best way to wash and get the matting out of his coat. My cousin had also asked me to pick up their dog food -- I lost the stickynote on which she wrote the names of the food they eat, but they were more then helpful by looking up what she regularly buys and helped me carry it all out to the car. These guys are GREAT. With the COVID 19 virus, they offered to even bring the dog food to my house. I called Bob at his store told him what we needed, his staff took my credit card information over the phone and we were done. Since I live in Folsom 15 minutes later Bob showed up out front. I get my cat's food here. Really healthy and not full of all of that garbage even big names like Blue have. Gluten free too :) It's pricey, but not as pricey as doctor prescription ordered food that had gluten and other harmful products in it. I went here for the first time today. Let me start with the one bad thing. It's 15.00. I could see 10 bucks. But 15.00 is a little steep. I could see paying it on a rare occasion but definitely not regularly. If you have a small dog it's not worth it as they are easy to wash at home, but any dog over 25 pounds and it's great! They have everything you need right at each station and it was so easy. A good place to go after a day at the river. No bending over a home tub, no clean up. My dog smelled delicious! :) read more

I took my dog to Sbarkles to use their self-wash. I loved this place! They have a hydro surge soap system that automatically puts soap on your dog for you and makes life a lot easier when you have a large hairy dog because the soap and water go all the way to the skin. I was able to wash my dog twice and condition him all for $15. The staff was very nice and even gave me an extra towel when I asked. My mother-in-law purchased some gourmet goodies and my pup loved them. Sbarkles also offers a variety of pet foods and toys. I would much rather spend my money here than at a large chain store. I haven't washed my dogs here yet, but I was looking for some specialty high protein cat food for my diabetic cat and they were listed as having it. When I went there and talked to the guy working, he was very knowledgeable and even gave me giant samples so that I wouldn't buy a bag of food my cat wouldn't eat! When I returned to get the kind she liked best (the suggestion he made, not the one I originally was looking for), he carried it to my car even though I was right in front of the door. When I popped my trunk, he saw the bag of dog food I had purchased at another store and told me that his distributor carried it & he could order it so I only had to go to one place and could use the 10% coupon they put in the Folsom flier I get in the mail. John was a great help explaining how to use the tubs and the "wash rack". Afterwards my dog was nice and cleaned and we browsed through the snack area to see if there was something to treat her with. Not a good place at all. I sent my dogs in for teeth cleaning last Friday (Very first time... and very last time I bring them to that shop for cleaning) and they came home with fleas!!! a) My dogs never had fleas before at home, not even when I bring them to parks. b) My dogs did not go anywhere else between Friday and today (Sunday). When I called the shop, they refuse to accept any responsibility and not even interested to do anything about it (like cleaning/treating the store). I was calling to at least ensure they treat the store and don't propagate the fleas to others, but they're not interested and just flat out deny that the fleas are from the store. We were driving to Roseville to Pet Food Express to get our dog a self service bath when I went online and found this place right here in Folsom. We came here one time and fell in love. They have the self serve dog bathing areas and they provide everything, towels, shampoo, conditioner, dryer etc.And they clean up! The kindest guys work there with amazing knowledge of dogs, their breeds, behaviors, and needs. Great prices and a wide variety of healthy products. The are locally owned and operated as well as active in the community. While there asking my dog, I heard someone ask about their dog who had been sprayed by a skunk. Their answer wasn't a product. It was a process with foreseeable issues (He said, you will think the smell is gone but when it rains, even a sprinkle, the odor will come out again.). I do not recommend Sbarkles. I started going to Sbarkles shortly after Bob and John opened the store. When the business was new, the owners were hungry for customers:,but now, they are (particularily Bob) sarcastic, impatient, and arrogant. Sure, they will be pleasant until you become one of their regular customers. You walk in and they greet you with a big smile. They have automated the time they spend with you to about 5 minutes - or less, if it looks like you are not going to buy anything. They moved the store to a bigger location and the prices on the products seem to have gone slightly up. The food items are pricey. The products are MORE EXPENSIVE than Elliott's (yes, the health food store). Elliott's carries The brand "Solid Gold." They are more expensive than Whole Foods for Halo and Primier (raw food). They are more expensive than Petco for most brands. More expensive than Trends and Treats located in FairOaks, CA. BE CAREFUL. They do not take anything back. I found this out the hard way. Also, several times, I had to bring to their attention that products on the shelves had expired. I think they would not have any problem selling it to you. Every time I go in I spend a lot of money (usually around $75), mainly because I have supported them for many years and I believe in supporting local merchants. NO MORE! In five years I brought one thing back and I was addressed rudely by Bob who asked me in a sarcastic way, "what do you want me to do." He was smacking his gum and did not want to even look at me, instead typing away on the computer. Perhaps, they should state on their receipt that there are no RETURNS. How can someone possibly know, with a closed package, that your pet will like it. They need to put samples out for everything. Also, their suppliers often give samples of their products to give to customers. Bob and John hide these samples and when they offer them up they act like they are doing you this amazing favor and taking good care of you. These are the exact words from Bob's mouth!
