We just moved here last year and have 4 fur babies. Yesterday we decided to take one of my Maltese here for grooming to try it out . Alaina was our groomer. My first impression of her wasn't the best. First of all she looked stressed and not very friendly. But I decided to give her a chance-maybe she was just having a bad day. When I ask how long it's going to take, I was told about 2-3hours. After three hours I returned , she told me she didn't get a chance to start on my dog yet and that she was the only groomer there because they over booked. No apologies and she looked annoyed I even asked her that. At that point I was beyond pissed off, I asked to speak to a manager. When the manager arrived, she went look at the system to see what's going on. Then at the point I said please give my dog back, we will go somewhere else. It's wild to be to make a dog sit there in a crate for over 3 hours because they are too incompetent to let the customers know in advance they over booked and if we want to stay or wait for another day. Then the manager told me I have to pay before they can give me my dog. I said that's fine I will pay for shampoo - not sure why they shampoo my dog and not giving him the haircut after. This is such a dump in such a high end location. I would give them a zero star if I could. read more

Update your hours! It said it was open until 9pm. I show up on Friday 8:20om and it's closed! I was deciding between this location or the Petco 2 miles down on Bidwell and if they are open like it says they will get my business now and in the future... It's the little things like this that make it or break it for me... There's no reason for a company as big as PetSmart to have info on yelp that is not correct! Especially the hours of operation! My husband and I just moved to the area, we've had the same groomer for our animals for the last 6 years so finding a new groomer can be stressful and unpredictable. I usually go to the PetSmart on Iron Pointe, just down the road, but made a dog training appointment here as they had open availability. The store is always stocked with what I need and it's clean! Staff are friendly and I always feel welcome. In regards to training, Ike our trainer has been awesome with our 5 month old lab. He's very knowledgeable and super patient with our learning dog. We just finished the 6 week puppy training program and have learned many useful tips and skills. I'm looking forward to the next level up later in the year. All in all, this is a great PetSmart and you'll find everything you need for your animal friends! Sunday's can get pretty busy but they are less busy on weekdays at night! I never understood why there were 2 PetSmart stores so close to one another here in Folsom but I hope that both stay on business since there are so many animal owners in the area! read more

I can't speak for others but when me and my family came here we purchased our very first fancy conure. It was the only petsmart for miles that had one in stock. I couldn't be more happier with our purchase. The staff here were very friendly, professional and polite. I wasn't really sure what to expect being that this location was so far north of Sacramento. However, to my surprise the service that I received was very welcoming. And I thank the young lady and young man who helped me here for being so professional. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Took my 7yr old Australian Shepherd Here today for her appointment on 5/15/24 and it was a mess even getting her an appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] First, I took her in for a bath and brush and they said she had some mats on her belly so they told me to make an appointment for a bath and brush with trim so I did. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The appointment came and they had to reschedule bc the groomer got injured apparently so I made another appointment for today and damn.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I already knew my dog is VERY anxious at the groomers but I was hoping with positive reinforcement it would be ok but boy was I wrong. I left her with the groomers and I come and pick her up and they said they couldn't trim her bc she was too restless basically and kept wanting to sit but I already told them that, that was why I took her to the groomer because I couldn't do it myself. I also told them she has arthritis in her hips and I can barely brush her butt area so she needs special attention to that as much as possible. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So I made 2 extra appointments for no reason.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Here are some photos hopefully you can see on her head there's almost like a bald spot that wasn't there when I left her. That looked like that was the only thing they did to her. and when I got home I looked at her and she didn't look like she even bathed her correctly or mabye didn't brush her enough but her fur was uneven. She also smells like Wet dog like I let her roll around in dirt smell. I don't know how but I swear she smells like that. Highly recommend you don't go there if you have a hyperactive/anxious dog! Pretty disappointed with Stelia R . She groomed my dog and cut his nails. The nail were cut so short that 3 weeks later my dog is still bleeding from the quicks! He wines in pain every night from the pain. All 4 paws were grinder down so low you can still see the red vein in the middle of the quick When he runs his paws start bleeding! I took my Australian Shepherd in for a Bath and Brush with FURminator. When I dropped him off, I pointed out where his hair was matted on his back and the person checking us in noticed mats behind his ears. She asked if they could shave the areas with the mats if they couldn't get them out using other means. I said yes. After I got him home, I discovered that the mats on his back and behind his ears were still there and his nails had not been trimmed (this service was supposed to be part of the package I paid for). I also noticed he seemed to still be leaving clumps of hair around the house. I tried brushing him with just a pin brush and got quite a lot of hair off of him. I honestly think all they did was bathe him and dry him a bit. Needless to say, I will not be returning to PetSmart for grooming services. read more

This store is truly disgusting. I gather that there is a lack of employees but there comes a point that keeping the animals fed and in a clean habitat comes before stocking the shelves. Birds with zero food and sludgy mush for water, poop everywhere in the cages, dead fish in piles rotting at the bottom of tanks. Cloudy and yellow Betta containers with rotting fish in them. As a human being that is beyond upsetting. If you are that understaffed that the pets you are selling are suffering then maybe it's time to reevaluate your business model. I shouldn't have to alert a staff member who is visibly annoyed that they need to feed the animals. Unacceptable. read more

I adopted my third cat from the adoption center today. I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman that helped us out but he was so kind and patient (we took forever to decide if we wanted to take our new sweet girl home). No regrets. I have taken both my dogs to get groomed here a few times now. But now twice within the past year my Morkie has been knicked in the leg region. The first time the groomer realized it, had the manager call me and paid for the vet visit. The second time, the groomer apparently didn't realize she did it or just didn't say anything because I noticed the large cut when I got home. While after speaking with the manager they of course offered to pay for the vet visit and refund the grooming, it is an ordeal to have to deal with when you need to try to find a vet to go to when it's already a Friday and you're only option is an emergency vet. I appreciate the manager taking care of things properly but very disappointed with the groomers. read more

I'm absolutely sick over this incident. Long story short: My mom was gracious enough to take my little pup terrier to be groomed for me and she brought him back home for me to find him hiding and crying under the bed while trembling. I then saw the damage and was devastated! This totally traumatized my baby. SEE PHOTO REFERENCE! The groomer totally destroyed his grooming job... Causing bleeding and rash which is still bad a week later. When my mom went back that evening to show the "manager" photos of my dog he gave attitude and was totally disrespectful and rude. He then proceeded to tell my mother that our dog probably isn't fit to be at their grooming salon! You have got to be kidding me. How about the groomer not being capable of giving an acceptable trim? Look I would not even write this if they had made it right and maybe just said sorry and handled it professionally and not just give excuses. There is no excuse for what happened and that's why I will never go to another large company like this again- they have nothing to loose if they loose a client. Most small business owners would have never let this be handled like so. My mother did get a full refund of $60, that is the least they could do. By the way she was told it would be only $23 for a groom and then was charged $60. Who knows why. Please do not let you baby get groomed here. I feel terrible for putting my pup through this. It is disgusting! Sorry for a harsh write but maybe this can be a wake up call for them. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!! I've been going to this location for close to two years. I think Katie? usually grooms her and she is great - I've never had a problem. But I won't be taking my little Pekingese back there EVER again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I dropped her off for a bathe and full body trim. I told the receptionist that she had a lot of mats, and I had taken off as many as I could[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I got a call 20 minutes later to tell me to come and pick her up, as they couldn't trim her....... As an undergrad, I worked at a "major competitor" of PetSmart. That'll be a tough one to figure out... While I prefer the brightness, cleanliness, and emphasis on customer service of my former employer (although they seem to have gotten lax on the last one in recent years), I always go to PetSmart instead, because their prices are slightly lower. That's probably because they don't train their employees as well, and the store is more of a warehouse style than a bright, friendly-looking store. Service here is very hit-or-miss. It's not ever RUDE, but can be apathetic. Once in a while you find someone who really knows their stuff, but I wouldn't count on it. If you know what you're looking for, go on in. But if you need real advice and suggestions, might want to pick a different store. read more

I went into the folsom petsmart today and was appalled at the state of the fish section. One betta was outside the water stuck to the side of the cup, one betta was dead and every single cup of betta water was cloudy with bacterial bloom. Many of the bettas were showing signs of poor health, clamped fins, floating on their side and general lethargy. Not only that but they were keeping goldfish, which are cool water fish in with tiny neon tetras which are sensitive tropical temperature fish. These fish are absolutely in no way compatible and there is no excuse for such a terrible mixture of fish at a professional store selling live animals. The lady up front was nice but couldn't be of help. The register girl herself gets 5 stars for her service but the facility and the fish area especially gets almost no stars. There was also a veild chameleon in a absolutely atrociously tiny tank with not even remotely close to enough ventilation which can lead easily to a respiratory infection. If they do not have the means to carry animals they should not have them in stock. read more

Came in for some fish on a weekend and there was an animal rescue group adopting out cats and kittens. They were so cute we let our daughter pick one out and she picked a very cute kitten, that was already spayed, had a microchip and UTD on all her vaccines. I only wish we would have just got the other kitten that was inside her kennel with her. We adopted an older cat last year from a big known adoption place and the ladies that worked there weren't the nicest when we picked the older cat we wanted. The people at this animal rescue group which I believe they said is based out of Cameron Park area were so nice to us and our little kids. They let our kids check out two of the kittens they were interested in and then pick which one she wanted. They were so helpful and so sweet to us and the kittens and cats there for adoption. We will definitely adopt more in the future and recommend going to Petsmart to anyone else look for a kitten/Cat. read more

I've been taking my dog here for the last five years for the past year customer service has been horrible my dogs nails, barely get trimmed, and her ears sometimes are not 100% clean, but I give them the benefit of the doubt and today was the last straw. My dog was born with a heart murmur I've been coming here for the last five years past employees know she's has a heart murmur. Never been an issue. I never had an issue here before, everyone who I have encountered here in the past has always been so welcoming and friendly and so willing to help, but not the two people I spoke with 15-20 minutes ago. They both refused to check on dog food in the back for me and the male worker with the blonde hair I believe his name was Michael? or Mark? Just stood there confused at first and lacked much more professionalism in his way of speaking with a tone of not wanting to be there, very unfriendly and needs more work on his customer service skills.
