Great place for lunch. Keep an eye out for their all-you-can-eat buffet menu - you can get a lot of food for only 7 euros. Props to my friend for showing me this place! read more

The locale is beautiful as it is next door to a huge pilgrimage church. Parking was incredibly easy at the huge public lot which is free over night. The room was a little noisy at night because there is no air conditioning so we had the windows open and other guests kept arriving under our window. Still, it is a very quiet area and the noise was brief. The rooms are very spacious and the hotel has a great charming feel. The staff was very friendly and mostly kept out of sight, even at breakfast which was included. It turned out to be a great base of operations for the Austrian Grand Prix. The restaurant was nice as well with fairly friendly service, though a bit slow, though this did at least tell us that the food was being made fresh. The beer selection wasn't huge, but was tasty. The ambiance and decor is very traditional Austrian. We were given the wrong food, I had ordered the cordon blue and my wife ordered veal goulash with dumplings but we were both served the beef goulash. It was very tasty but very safe and traditional so didn't stand out. We were told it would be comped as a result, but this didn't happen and it didn't seem worth the fight.

The service wasn't the greatest, the waiter was friendly, but as more people came in, he clearly seemed to be in over his head. Worth mentioning: there were like 6 tables occupied in total. He also didn't see that my glass had been empty for quite some time and didn't ask if I wanted anything else. We ordered the stuffed calamari and the grilled branzino which both came with a side of grilled vegetables and some potatoes and swiss chard. The calamari were good, not over cooked and the filling was tasty. But at a price of 16€ for 4 tiny little squiddies way overpriced. The branzino came at around 18€ which was okay for me as it was a whole fish with side dishes. It was okay, but I wouldn't come back for more.

So if you can get a table here it's a wonderful spot for large parts of the year. The building and its interior is light and bright in country style like an elegant Inn and the staff is friendly and willing to help. The menu offers typical Austrian/Styrian food and the meals we had were delicious. One had the famous Austrian Tafelspitz, another had the chicken breast (of the corn-fed chicken) with mushroom risotto and another one of our group had the beef tartar with quail-egg in marinated ruccola, butter and white bread. I had the Styrian Backhendl, a breaded chicken half, you can have with or without skin. I took it without skin, the traditional Styrian way. From Graz with love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann
