I wish I could rate lower than 1 star. Terrible customer service and even worst repair service.

Just took this bus line from Charlotte to NYC on Sunday 11/25/12. Booked ticket via gotobus.com for…read more$50 one way. To start, the bus picks you up in a Food Lion parking lot in a so-so area of town. At no time was it unsafe, just a bunch of people waiting in their cars and in the lot for the bus to arrive. I got there @ 8pm for a scheduled 8:30 bus. However, the bus did not arrive until 10PM! Supposedly there was an overturned truck on I-77 while the bus was enroute to pick us up. Once the bus got there the driver (an older black gentleman) did his best to keep everyone in line. As you could imagine, people were upset about the delay. Everyone rushed to the door of the bus (including myself) but the driver announced that there was a second bus right behind him. Sure thing, within 10 mins the other bus pulled up. The driver check everyone's ticket and corresponded it to his list of passengers. Everyone got on the two busses which took about 30 mins total. Once on board, I found a window seat in the 3rd row, and I sat with a college kid I met while waiting for the bus. Seats were comfy, and reclined twice that of an airplane seat. However, the first seat I checked out (in the 2nd row) didn't recline - it was busted. When we finally got on our way the driver announced the password to the free wifi that was offered. However, the password was wrong and we could not get on. During our first rest-area stop I talked to the driver and let him know it wasn't working. I was able to convince him to let me tinker with it. He agreed and I was able to figure out the password. The wi-fi was spotty. It's a Sprint service and there are just dead zones along the way. You also have to take into consideration that the bus carries 50 people and if half of them try to login to the wifi at once it will slow it drastically. If you are counting on the wi-fi I would say use it for emails, facebook, etc. Do not expect to stream video! Getaway Travels also advertises power outlets on board to charge your devices. I was actually more interested in this than the wifi as I have my own personal wifi device. Unfortunately, there WAS NOT any charging ports on either of the busses. I asked the driver of the second bus and he told me these busses were "new" and they were not yet outfitted with the charging ports. The ride itself was smooth sailing. I watched a movie on my ipad, and we made our first rest stop north of Raleigh, south of the VA border. This was a 15 min stop. I was able to fall asleep and woke up at the second rest area - another 15 min stop between Richmond & DC. I forget what time this was at. From there I passed back out and woke up around 9AM as we were passing Newark Airport! Got a decent rest. We arrived in Harlem just at 10AM - on time despite the delay! The kid sitting next to me told me they stopped at a rest area as soon as they got into NJ, a 30 mins stop. The bus itself was clean, comfortable, and peaceful. There is a bathroom which I used twice and the driver told us it was for "#1 only, not #2". My following comments are in no way shape or form racial/ethnic/judgmental. I simply want whoever reads this to know who was writing it and what the makeup of the passengers are. The bus was filled with a mix of everything. Mostly hispanic/black crowd, there were parents with their kids, college students, and singles just trying to get to NY. I myself am a 33 yr old white dude. Everyone was kind and peaceful, and mostly kept to themselves. This is an overnight trip after all. Oh one more thing - there were two drivers to both busses. The relief driver was riding shotgun and they would switch off at the rest areas. This is my first time using gotobus to make a reservation, but I spoke to several other riders who have taken the 'Chinatown' bus in the past. They all said that by far these drivers are far more courteous and respectful than the busses that bring you downtown. If it wasn't for the delay and lack of power outlets, I would have given this ride 5 stars! For $50 you can't beat it and I'll definitely use it again if I'm on a budget. Hope this review is helpful to whoever reads it. I tried to find reviews about this company before I booked and couldn't really find anything. Safe travels!!!

As I wanted to get out of the city and see the surrounding area, I opted to go with their 5-hour Carolina Countryside tour, which is a culinary tour offered once a week. The tour includes several stops including the historic Pointsett Bridge, the base of Table Rock Mountain, a tea farm, and 2 food stops at the Cherokee Country Club and Aunt Sue's Country Corner. The first stop was at Core 450 restaurant at Cherokee Valley Country Club. We were able to sample some absolutely delicious food with beautiful views of the golf course. Their French toast was some of the best I've ever had, and chicken items were also of very high quality. The second main stop was a tea farm at Table Rock Tea Company. The owner was super enthusiastic in showing us around the tea farm, but the tour did seem to drag on for those that weren't overly interested in the tea process. The sweet tea samples were refreshing on a very hot and sunny day. The final stop was a buffet style meal at Aunt Sue's Country Corner. Personally, I thought the food quality here was pretty poor and much preferred the food at our first stop. I know this was a food tour, but felt it could have done without the final stop, and could have been more balanced if it explored the mountain or lakes of the area more, with just the country club food stop and perhaps stops for coffee/baked goods and/or ice cream along the way. Overall, this tour was a great introduction to the area, and the food tour parts of it definitely filled guests up. I would suggest that this tour be tweaked to be a nature and countryside tour with less emphasis on food and a bit more exploration. The tour operator/owner, John Nolan was an absolute delight offering great narration and audiovisuals to help us gain a better understanding of the history of the area. I wouldn't hesitate to take another tour with Greenville History Tours, and would recommend their tours to any visiting the Greenville area.
