I do wish that there were some shaded awnings for the parents and caregivers to sit whilst kids play however because on a hot day parents will be hard pressed to keep out of the heat. Restrooms are located throughout the park. There are also some covered picnic areas, but they aren't close enough to the play structures to keep a close eye on the children. Perhaps it honors our precious endangered Brown Bats, who have taken up residency in our little forest? I am extremely excited to see all the changes being made in my favorite little spot to connect with nature and wear out my elderly dog. Flat Fork Creek Park is part of Fishers Parks. Located at 101st and Cyntheanne Road, Flat Fork Creek Park offers just over 60 acres of relaxing fun for just about everyone in the family including a good amount of ADA accessibility. First off, you'll get a 60-foot sledding hill here. That's good to know as we inch toward winter. It's the tallest point in Hamilton County. There's also a 1.25 mile progressive mountain bike course that offers features for both mountain biking newbies and those with more experience. There's a beautiful fishing pond - state license required except for those 17 and under. Nearly 20 acres in the park are reforestation areas and there's a shelter with picnic tables that can be rented. Okay, that accessibility I mentioned? The 3k I did was a relatively small group, though it was centered around disability and had several disabled participants. The park includes an ADA accessible treehouse, a paved multi-use trail, and a boardwalk (I would note that while the boardwalk is, indeed, accessible, you do want to be a tad careful due to the side of the boardwalk that do offer a bit of a drop-off). You know what I think is really cool? They've created a ramp here so that even those with mobility issues can get to the top of the sledding hill - in most parks, that's an afterthought. As a side note, Fishers has won awards for their inclusion work and this park really shows it. This is really just a lovely park. You're not going to find a playground or other frequent park features, however, this beautiful park does a nice job of including everyone and weaving together nature with fun park adventures. This was my first time here. It won't be my last.

Catch and release fishing is allowed in the pond and no fishing license is required. (Swimming is not allowed in the pond). The mulch covered paths and gardens along the pond are nicely maintained, though may be difficult for wheelchair access. The playground has multiple climbing structures, slides and play areas. The ground is covered in mulch. Covered seating is available. The playground is fenced so that kids don't wonder. A large covered pavilion near the parking lot with picnic tables offers seating. The pavilion is available on a first come basis, unless there is a church activity. A baseball diamond and soccer fields are also available on a first come basis. The land for the park was donated to the community by Parkside Bible Church, so it is not surprising that there is a Christian vibe throughout the park. The playground was built by local volunteers. The graveled parking lot holds dozens of cars. Portable potties are available at the park. The park is a great place to connect with nature, walk the dog or let the kids play.

We have another awesome park in Brownsburg!…read more This park has everything and more of what I'm looking for on a day out with my kids: a toddler section with age appropriate equipment for my small kids, musical equipment like a large xylophone and drums, swings, and a big playground for bigger kids. And! It is completely enclosed - which is perfect cause my two year old is a runner. I only got to enjoy the playground but, looking around, I noticed there is also a disc golf course, a walking trail, and a fishing pond. There was even a garden area a ways off from the playground - I made a mental note that it would be a perfect place to come for some time by myself, maybe with a book. Some nearby parks are too secluded so I don't feel comfortable going alone - but this garden looked close enough to the playground to make me feel not totally alone but far enough away for some quiet privacy. In short, I am definitely adding this to our park circulation.

It is also home to the Avon HS Cross Country team. It the front they have a full basketball court that is pretty decent, a sand volleyball court, a gazebo, and 2 covered shelters that you can reserve. Each shelter has grills and picnic tables. There are also picnic tables scattered around the area, an open field that is well maintained, and a small lake. The lakes are rumored to be stocked, but I did not see anyone fishing. You will also find a very nice playground up there that has a jungle gym for small kids and one for bigger kids. The ground is covered with shredded tires. The playground also has a cargo net to climb, tire swings and regular swings. if you venture to the other part of the park in the back that is where you will find over 5 miles of paved trails, a splash pad, an outdoor fitness area, a reception hall, an small amphitheater, another lake with a fountain, 2 more covered shelters with picnic tables and grills, restroom facilities and another playground. The playground is very nice and is lined with a rubbery surface and has equipment including swings, monkey bars and other stuff that looked like it was purchased from Ikea. This is an awesome park and a great part of the Avon community. They have tons to do and can keep an entire family busy for hours. This place is very scenic and has some picturesque bridges and landscape. It is also home to the historic 1876 Whipple Iron Truss.

The sound of the water adds such a calming touch, making it a great spot to unwind and enjoy a beautiful day outdoors. It's the kind of place you can easily spend a few hours and not want to leave.
