I found myself with one of my littles and some time to kill and he wanted to play at a park. This…read morewas nearby so, I decided to stop by this one. The park is right in front of a residential neighborhood and has lots of green space that can be used to play catch, fly a kite, play soccer or football. There is also a decent paved path that goes around the park's perimeter. There is an ample amount of parking available in the park's private lot and there is a small pond that separates the park from the neighborhood. There is no swimming allowed in the pond and it is only open to fishing for the neighborhoods residents. The park has a half decent full basketball court. The court does however have some large cracks and the nets are broke in certain areas. The backboards and rims are pretty good though. The park's picnic shelter is also "ok". It has picnic tables under it and a grill right outside of it. The shelter, tables and grill are showing signs of wear and could use a little TLC. My little was not impressed with the playground area. He kept saying that it was not a real playground. It is set on the a bed of wood chips and has a bank of toddler swings and a bank of regular swings. There is also a medium sized jungle gym that has an accessible ramp. The jungle gym has a few slides, parallel bars, and monkey rings. It is older but in decent shape. My major gripe with the play area is that there is nowhere for parents to sit and watch their kids play. The nearest seat would either be in your car or in the shelter. The green space looks pretty well taken care of and manicured, but my major concern was the amount of trash all around the park. I was not a fan of the used condoms and Black and Mild wrappers around the parking lot. The park does not have any restroom facilities or water fountains either. We stayed there for about 30 minutes and my kid wanted to go to a "real playground". I guess he has been spoiled by the mega playgrounds that we have visited lately. Anyway, this park has a lot of potential, and it would not take much to get it up to par. As it stands now, it is good for the nearby neighborhood residents and people that have time to kill and are in the area, such as was my case. This is definitely not a destination park.

In addition to the basketball court there's a playground, picnic shelter with grill, lots of large fields, and a walking trail. I'm sure we'll be back.

They expanded the outdoor exhibits, including the Landmark for Peace Memorial, an art piece depicting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy with outstretched arms. They also added lights to the basketball court area and new walking paths, and reopened the Visitor Center, although it was closed when I visited. The playground at MLK Park is still relatively new, even though it wasn't a part of the remodel. It has fun things for all ages, like musical instruments, swings, a huge netted climber, a merry-go-round, and a small playground structure for little kids. The ground is that rubber padding that cushions falls. If you like murals, then come on over to this park, because it got it some murals. There's a mural of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy (of course), but also a mural depicting the "Masters of Disaster," a student chess team from IPS 27 that became national champions in the 1980s. How cool to be good at chess, and also get your mug on a wall in a park!

The sculpture sits on the ground where Kennedy delivered a moving speech on April 4, 1968, after the assignation of MLK. A nearby historical marker describes the importance of the speech. Many visionaries contributed to the Park and Memorial conception, including the Simons Brothers, The Pacers, politicians and artists. The sculpture was designed by Indiana artist, Greg Perry and cast by Daniel Edwards. I find the sculpture exceptional and moving. A modern Memorial Center is under construction just north of the Statue. The Center will house Park staff and exhibits about MLK and civil rights. An MLK quote is inscribed on the Center wall "Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that," Several contractors were working during my visit and the Center is behind closed fences during construction. It is hard to say when the Center will open, but I would guess Spring of 2026. A modern and colorful playground is also on the park grounds with climbing structures, swings and more. The made of the playground is soft matting material to improve safety. A swimming pool and basketball courts are also contained on the park grounds. Lots of green space is maintained on the park grounds. Landscaping efforts are in progress between the statue and Center with new walkways and signage. There is free street parking surrounding the park. Park use is free (not sure about pool use though). Several interesting murals of MLK surround the park. I look forward to visiting with my granddaughters when the Center opens. This is a moving Memorial and fabulous resource for the city.

I wish I could be arsed to find out why this park is called Wolf Run Park. I can't, though, so I…read moreguess it will forever remain a mystery. Because the name of the park has "wolf" in it, I kind of thought it would be a bit more bad in the good way (like Michael Jackson's Bad), but instead, it was just good in the bad way (like boring). Kids will love the playground, though. And that's the point of visiting this park. The playground has a big structure for the older kids, and a small structure for the younger kids. There are saucer swings, regular swings, a rope climber, slides, musical instruments, a merry-go-round and other fun things to play on. The whole playground is padded with wood chips. The playground looks like it is relatively modern (no metal equipment), but there isn't anything that stands out about this park. It has a run-of-the-mill playground, and it does its job. There are basketball courts a ways away. There's a big, grassy field to enjoy. One thing to note is that there is zero shade on the playground. That was fine when I visited, because it was an overcast day. But I imagine that this playground can be insufferable on a hot, sunny day. Another thing to note is that there are restrooms at Wolf Run Park, but on the day that I visited, they were closed for the season. So I guess if you visit this park during the fall and winter (and maybe even early spring), the restrooms will be closed.

The ground is a wood chip base, so sneakers are better than sandals and slides for shoes! There tends to be a lot of bugs, little tiny flys of some kind today, so something to be aware of. They did just add a bathroom recently, and I used it for the first time today. There was no toilet paper or soap. The toilet and sink water worked fine, and there was a changing table. One of two water fountains worked too. I'm hoping that all improves soon, but I'm still grateful they put in bathrooms here! It was a problem before. The trail is nicely paved and there's a little break to the left when you turn down the trail. If you follow it, you'll find a little spot to see the creek. Not really enough to play in, but we like to go take a minute to see it sometimes.

When I stopped on Friday morning to walk the dog, I was shocked to see the parking lot (which holds 60+ cars) almost full. They have 8 pickle-ball courts and they were full with a line of people waiting for a court The pangs of the balls were pretty loud and disrupted any peacefulness that the park has to offer. There is even a set of bleachers to watch the pickle-ball games. Anyway, the park does have an amazing playscape, perhaps the best in the Indy area. There are multiple climbing structures, swings for all abilities, a merry go round type structure and more. There is soft matting under the structures to keep the kids safe. Kids were having a blast. In addition, there is a colorful and awesome splash pad. There are nice benches, some covered, to sit and watch the kids. The park also has a walking trail into a wooded area, which is not paved, just gravel. There is some natural prairie vegetation. Trees have been recently planted. There are a nice set of restrooms including a family restroom. I also saw a small pavilion with picnic tables. Bottom line, while it's a bit crowded and loud, this is a great park with lots of fun things to do.

There is a decent amount of parking available but this park does get packed. The park features 8 very nice, fenced in, pickleball courts, a large playground, an active splash pad. The park also have two shelters with picnic tables under them and some benches under small shelter-like structures that provides some relief from the blazing sun. The splash pad has a lot going on. There are sprinklers, pouring buckets, sprayers, waterfalls and lots more. It is very nice and open from 9am to 8pm. The playground is modern and is Divided into zones for children aged 2 to 5 and 5 to 12. It is laid on a combination of artificial turf and rubberized, mud-free, surfacing. The playground features a swing bank with traditional and ADA swings, a net cone merry go round, a slide on artificial turf covered hills and a small jungle gym structure with a couple of slides and bridges. The highlight of the playground though is the towering jungle gym with a bunch of tall slides, ropes, and bridges. It is one of the first things that you will see when you arrive at the park. Additional amenities at the park include a water fountain that is capable of filling bottles, a restroom facility and a patch of green space to play catch or just throw a blanket down and relax, hiking trails that lead to and from downtown Bargersville. It is a small, but very well designed park. I will admit, that it does get packed during nice weather, no school days, especially on weekends. I really like this park. Bargersville has began to invest in parks, which is nice. This is definitely a must visit while in the Center Grove/Bargersville area.
