Pretty hard to find if your just walking the streets in Gamla Stan but so worth it if you find it. Excellent drinks and while we were there, they had a beer special that was up my alley- so to speak. We also enjoyed some smoked salmon for an appetizer that was awesome as well. Some colorful lights and a large umbrella with some space heaters help to take the chill out of the late summer nights. And the bartenders were spot on with a drink or beer when needed. Just what we needed after some full days of walking through the historic town that is so full of great things to see. It's not often I want to try something a second time, but this space deserves a return trip.

It's located in a hotel and used a different lift to get to the correct floor. We came in and rather loud disco music was playing. The bar was set up as a lounge which was great as they had a few different areas with booths, couches and chairs, etc. for us to relax in. The bartenders were both pretty easy to talk to and accommodating. Not sure if this is standard, but there was a police officer at the bar as well? They were good about walking around and telling everyone when last call was. They closed at 1:00 AM I think, which in that area of Sweden is pretty late. Most other places closed at 11:00 or 12:00. The view was pretty nice as it was on a higher floor, but the decor was pretty outdated. Like, early or mid 80's? Maybe even earlier than that? I don't know if the hotel is responsible for that or the business, but either way, it wouldn't hurt to update everything, or at least make the place completely retro. I'd probably pass on going here the next time I'm in Sweden.

There didn't seem to be a bathroom fan so it got pretty steamed-up with a hot shower, but I think the mirror was heated as it cleared up faster than normal. Our king-sized bed had two twin comforters, which, as an American, was unexpected but it worked out very nicely by avoiding a tug of war for the covers. There were no USB ports, which I would have expected at a hotel of this level, but that's a very minor point.

They checked us in (again) but this time for realsies and they said the no-show charge was the same as the room charge so our 4-night stay became officially a 3-night stay. I'm still not sure if the rate stayed the same but it all seemed more or less fixed at the time... but now Marriott Bonvoy isn't giving me credit for the room night and the points so I'm still dealing with it weeks later which is crazy because we were there. So annoying. But the hotel really was nice. The room was spacious, the lounge was beautiful with an enormous multistory chandelier and the breakfast really was epic. Lots to see via short walks, meals, destinations and transit access in every direction. Nice place.

For those of you making over $100K/year, get yourself a reservation at a window side table at the fancy schmancy restaurant for some great views and hopefully equally great food. For those of making more than American minimum age but below $100K/year, grab a seat at the bar area. Order your drink of preference from one of the tattooed and bearded but handsome Viking hipster barmen. Draft beers are available for less than 70SEK, or be classier like my wife get a wine glass for 120+SEK. Maybe get the full meaty charcuterie plate for 195SEK; its loaded with cured meats and a couple cheeses, and fantastic. Ask for some free bread, its some of the best focaccia I've had.
