More importantly, the team went above and beyond to take care of our family at a time when we needed guidance most. They guided me through options, had recommendations for other services, were patient and comforting in helping with remains and planning. Then they actually stopped by the house when I requested special assistance. I really appreciate everything they did to help. Update: Grace completely saved me a second time with my mom's passing and cremation as well. So patient and compassionate. Cannot recommend enough.

The first time I walked in, was to give the owner some information about a local event happening in our area. I have to admit, I was mostly indifferent about stepping foot in a funeral and cremation service establishment. As I walked in I let out a deep breath. It was BEAUTIFUL inside. The minute you step foot in the door, you feel a wave of calm wash over you. Maybe they practice feng shui, I have no idea. What made an impression on me next were the owners. The owners are young, upbeat, friendly, and very welcoming. They introduced themselves, and then Kristan, (one of the owners) took me on a tour of their facility. I was impressed by all of the different options they had. They can create custom blankets, blown glass jewelry, and different types of earns based on the connections they have in the industry. There is quite the variety of caskets to choose from as well. They have everything from your traditional caskets to eco-friendly caskets that are biodegradable. They pretty much can accommodate any individual personality. They even do pet funerals. Grace Funeral has made quite the impression on me.

I am absolutely blown away with my experience with Sunset from start to finish. I lost my dad a…read morelittle over a week ago while he was in hospice care in our home. Even though he was sick and in hospice, his sudden decline and death were very sudden and shocking. We hadn't even had the chance to really think about a funeral home selection, but because we've had other experiences there with other family members, we made an on-the-spot decision with Sunset, and I'm so happy that we did. Sunset staff came to pick up dad from our home to transport him and were extremely respectful, waiting patiently and unobtrusively for us to say our goodbyes and making sure everyone who might want to was present, even though it was late at night. Our next step was obviously planning arrangements at the funeral home itself a few days later, and I went with my mom and aunt (dad's sister) to help make some decisions. Our director's name was Wyatt, and I cannot express how much his demeanor, genuine compassion, and patience made this very difficult experience less stressful and almost easier. We knew that dad wanted to be cremated, but didn't have much else planned or know what to do. Wyatt walked us through many options while not being pushy and provided advice, support, and most importantly plenty of time and space when needed so the family could talk through and make decisions. He very gently guided us when we needed it, but also respected our decisions. When the day of the visitation came, once again we had outstanding service. Everything they had (delivered flowers, my dad's urn) was set up beautifully and perfectly. They helped us finish setting up our items and pictures we brought from home, provided easels and tables when needed, helped us get our picture slideshow on the TV, and helped us take it down when it was over. I'm the type of person that doesn't really like to 'bother' people, but because of who Wyatt was, I felt completely comfortable reaching out to him after the meeting and before the service when I had questions or concerns, and still do even after our services are over. He really did go above and beyond in his customer service and being respectful to my family as well as my dad's dignity as a person, as did the other staff we encountered there. While this has been one of the hardest experiences of my life, the staff at Sunset- especially Wyatt- made this very difficult time that much easier, and I can't thank them enough for the peace of mind they brought us and everything they did for us. From the bottom of our hearts, from myself and my family, thank you.

The hospital said not to worry they would make the arrangements to get him there. Honquest called us to make arrangements for myself and my brother to come in so we could set a date. Everything was smooth and professionally handled. A day or two later I got a call from Tim Honquest, providing our family condolences. Tim said, I knew your dad and I've talked with him on several occasions. We've been unfortunate to lose my two brothers and my sister, we used Honquest for each of those funeral services. Also, each of those funeral services have been AAA+ and professionally handled. Tim mentioned to me that my dad was pretty frugal. I told Tim, let's just be honest my dad was cheap. He mentioned that my dad purchased a casket that was basically a box with material. Tim said to me that they had a casket that they used to rent out to people and would I be interested in it. I asked him, How much would it be to rent it out? He said it's free him and not to worry about it. I thanked him his kindness and for the use of the casket. I was under the impression that they would put my dad in his casket that he purchased after the services. Since my dad did not want a funeral procession, my brother was able to go out to the cemetery the next day when they buried my dad. My brother took a picture and he sent it to me, I was a related. Tim conquest had given us the rental casket that I thought he was just letting us borrow, but no, he gave it to my dad!!! I am so appreciative of that kindness in our time of need. I just can't thank him enough!! BIG THANK YOU to Tim Holquist & family for being there for our family

I called Honquest at the time, and they confirmed handling the service, and indicated this would be a graveside service only at Randhill Cemetery in Arlington Heights, Il. They've never been there, so they could'nt tell me where it was, or how to find the grave side service. They instructed me to call back closer to the date of service. So, today, I just got off the telephone with a woman who confirmed the service for the person I named, but they told me the service was at 'River Bluff' cemetery, in Arlington Heights. I asked several times repeating the name of the cemetery, which she confirmed each time. There is 'NO' River Bluff cemetery in Arlington Heights, Il., it's Randhill. I know this because I have plots there, and was a resident of AH for over 35years. I fear for those in the Rockford, Il. area that utilize Honquest Funeral home. If they don't know anything about where their business takes them, learn. And while you're at it, know the name of the Cemetery, it's a huge part of your business. I can only imagine the service they provide.

Months passed when I finally inquired about if the charities were working to cover the cost of the burial. His response to me (after a month had passed mind you". Oh I haven't started the paperwork (My mother was very low income, I dedicated 7 years of my life to caring for her.) she passed away indigent and under hospice care. The moment she passed I lost the nominal compensation her insurance was paying me to be her caregiver) (12 hours a week) anyone who has cared for an ailing parent we know it's a 24 hour job. Just like he threatened the other help reviewer He too said her remains were being held hostage until payment was made I made it abundantly clear (BEFORE SUNDBERG TOOK HER AWAY) that not only did I not have any funds at the time, I was in the negative in my checking account, as Social security clawed back her final check.1 Here is verbatim what he wrote me when I asked about my mothers ring "Know we don't find the band." So as you can see, he is not only cold hearted but functionally illiterate. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, Lance is simply not a good person. The day my mother died I was distraught, he assured me not to worry And then changed his tune very quick I regret that I didn't just deal with the county, I'm sure the experience would have been undignified, but lance was mean spirited, in contempt and lied about expectations. Also I doubt I would have been strong armed. for a depression era wedding band and my mothers remains. I didn't want to write this review, I feel quite embossed and ashamed I couldn't afford a proper interment on my own But I think many children caretakers can relate to my situation, we sacrifice a lot, mentally and financially All lance needed to do was be upfront and say he had no way to help. Instead he showed what a insolent person he truly is You should see the nasty emails he left me and hear the abhorrent voicemails left. One voicemail stated he was going to "dump my moms body at the county and let them deal with her" Ask yourself do you want this person dealing with your deceased loved one? I wouldn't want Lance near a junkyard dog. He is beaneth contempt and in the wrong "business" All the while hiding behind a cloak of Catholicism Shame on you Lance

I had to write a review for Olson as I've rarely received customer service at this superior level…read more I'm so grateful for Scott and Olson Funeral Home! Olson was the funeral home for my Father in 2012 and my Mother, which was just last week. It became a complicated situation, as my Mother had to be flown from California to Illinois and we had several issues with our CA funeral home, and still are. The entire team from Olson was not only kind, genuine and caring, but they went WELL above and beyond - more than I could have expected! Briefly, Scott voluntarily acted as our advocate, and like an "attorney" and frankly treated us like he was our sibling, fighting for his own mother. It was remarkable! The other funeral home in CA was not upfront and Scott's expertise allowed us to avoid the pitfalls, overcharges, and improper protocols that the CA Funeral home was trying to pull. This was not his responsibility, but he jumped in and led us through the proper protocols in straightening this out, even after the funeral. We would have been overcharged had it not been for Scott. Olson also knew all of the unique differences of a Jewish Funeral and I would highly recommend them for any religion's funeral needs. Even when the CA funeral home forgot a necessary element, Scott volunteered the day of the funeral to run out and get this on his own! He also was working with us day and night - INCLUDING on Thanksgiving! He was 100% dedicated to our family. He did not have to do this, but he did, and with a great attitude. Olson is highly respectful, experienced and again, I cannot tell you how much more he did than was expected, this review would be too long. We don't know the Olson's nor were we the easiest client he's ever had, but you'd never know from all that was done for my family, during one of the worst times in life. Scott and Olson's kindness, expertise, sensitivity and savvy in this industry turned a horror story into a success story. I highly recommend them for any/all of your funeral needs! They were utterly fabulous and I cannot thank them enough.

JIM is the most unprofessional, insensitive person and should really consider a new life-calling as he told our family, when we entered, that we "MIGHT RECOGNIZE SOMEBODY IN THERE" with a chipper smile on his face, referring to our Great Aunt. Our family was absolutely MORTIFIED. If you care about your loved ones and want their final services to be held in a professional and caring funeral home, this is NOT it. Jim was horrific to us and even questioned if one of our family members was actually related to us, as if that is even remotely appropriate. Their website presents a business that is a far cry from the facility and the services you get. Truly awful!
