Bought the Petra Canopy Bed in gray. Love it. It is solid but the headboard isn't quite as padded as something a bit more high end would be, but that's what pillows are for. Overall, a great value. What was exceptional was the service. I bought the bed in advance of an extensive home remodel and had to keep pushing out the delivery date multiple times due to delays with the house project. They were completely accommodating. The guys who delivered and set it up were fast, efficient and wore booties so as not to mar the new hardwood floors. read more

Find a store with better customer service! I've purchased furniture from this store over the last few years. The furniture is fine unless it needs repaired during its warrant period. I have called the store 8 times regarding a malfunctioning recliner, and still have no resolution. They promise a resolution but do not follow through. This location has the same great selection as the one in South Denver. What I like about this place is the quality of the furniture - definitely better than some of the large "furniture row" stores. Terrible customer service from the "salesman" that helped us and the "sales" manager that I was directed to when the "salesman" had no authority to make any decisions. Here is my horrible experience: We received a call from our "salesman" saying our couch was in. We paid the remaining balance in anticipation of our couch being delivered. We received a phone call from our "salesman" the day before our couch was set to deliver to inform us his factory had not shipped our couch correctly. Four weeks later our couch was still not in. When we purchased the couch we were told our couch would be in and ready for delivery in 6-8 weeks. Well now we were past the 8 weeks we were quoted. So when I called to discuss this issue with the "salesman" he was unable to discuss this with me and had to get his manager and call me back. I received a voicemail the next day to inform me miraculously our couch was now in a ready for deliver, however not one word was spoke of our previous conversation regarding the couch surpassing the quoted delivery date. When I called back I finally got in touch with the "sales" manager. He was rude and condescending to me. Told me "there was no way he would give us a discount" and accused me of not know what 8 weeks was. So I very politely said I'd call him back to discuss when I had all of my records in front of me. Once I called him back and explained how a calendar work and the couch was not in within the 8 weeks he very rudely said "if you can read the contract you signed you'll see the dates we quoted are estimates and there is no way he was giving us a discount", remember they have had our FULL payment of our couch for a month now but there is nothing they can do. I am very disappointed with my experience with these two individuals. Because of these two "salesman" my wife and family will never shop at Scandinavian Design again & and we will make sure to tell anyone and everyone how awful our experience was!!! read more

We've spent about $6K there over 2 orders,1 Stressless chair which hasn't arrived yet and a set of bedroom furniture. The bedroom furniture was delivered yesterday but the bed frame arrived broken so I refused it. The delivery drivers told me someone would call that day to talk about getting a replacement delivered but nobody called from either the store or the distribution center. I called the distribution center myself and was told a replacement was ordered but they couldn't tell me when it would arrive. They said they would have someone from the store call me but that didn't happen either so I called them myself. I'm now told it's backordered for another 2 months. I asked if there was any kind of partial refund and they said no there's nothing they can do. No apology or attempt to make things right in any way. I understand things happen and in the current environment shipping delays/backorders happen but the customer service was severely lacking. read more

First off, we have been shopping at Scandinavian Designs for several years and absolutely love their furniture. At first, we were terrified (yes, terrified) that we couldn't afford it, as they had so many pieces we absolutely had to have and were EXACTLY what we were looking for. Fast forward to now, we've outfitted our formal living room, formal dining room, kitchen nook, guest bedroom and home office with furniture purchased exclusively at Scandinavian. All of their wood pieces, or pieces that incorporate wood into them, are available in venge (espresso), beech and cherry. We love the warmth and classiness of the venge finish, so all of our wood pieces are in this stain. If I had to guesstimate what we've spent over the past few years, I wouldn't put it past $7,000 and the list is extensive: Living Room: 2 love seats 2 side tables 2 table lamps coffee table side chair floor lamp Asian inspired storage trunk HUGE original canvas painting Dining Room: table that expands to seat 12 12 dining chairs 7' sideboard mirror above sideboard wine rack leaning shelf Kitchen Nook: table that expands to seat 8 8 chairs Home Office: 12' modular wall unit with desk that comes out from the middle Guest Bedroom: 6-piece queen bedroom set queen box spring queen mattress One could very easily spend $7,000 in the dining room alone or half that on just an office wall unit, but we've outfitted 50% of our home with very stylish, good quality pieces that match our design style to a tee and have weared well for several years now. Everything still looks brand new. It's far better than IKEA and I am confused why people even compare them. The looks may be similar, but the quality is far superior. It's not quite at the Room & Board or Restoration Hardware level, but it's damn good for what you pay. Ask to work with Mitch. He is highly approachable, patient, knowledgable and of utmost importance, always follows through with custom orders and pick-up dates. Purchased a 'Cress' walnut dining table from Scandinavian Designs. In my opinion, it's a great piece at a great price especially when compared to other offerings from Crate and Barrel which go for 2.5x as much. Customer service was good and table was received on time. The table top was received with damage not noticed until after delivery left. Sent some photos to Scandinavian Designs and they replaced the table top without any issues and very quickly. So I'm happy with my experience both regarding service and quality of the table! read more

After failing to come here multiple times because we arrived after it closed (!) we finally got to browse inside. Yeah, it's chic and all that jazz but I really wasn't impressed. The furniture looked uncomfortable even though Scandinavian furniture is supposed to be ergonomically designed and a lot of the furniture reminded me of A Clockwork Orange. I was there for about a half hour looking at $3,000 Stressless chairs and none of the 5 sales people ever left the front desk area. I guess they don't work in commission. Service Excellence... I have been indecisive about furniture for my place for the past couple of months until I received the help from one of the guys at this store. In most cases where you experience people constantly trying to "up sell" you on things that you don't need or understand, they did the exact opposite here! Shawn was completely honest about the things that would be the right solution for my place versus the things which I wanted. (which were more expensive than what ended up with) After showing him pictures of my living space and office area, he explained to me a better decor solution which also looked great. At first I was a little reluctant to pull the trigger on the option he proposed but finally did. When the furniture arrived I was completely blown away with how accurate his advice and opinion was in regards to it working with my living space. After thinking about my original ideas of things to purchase at their store I am very happy I took his advise and went with the correct solution. Otherwise I would have been overfilling my space and be dissapointed with my decision and money spent. I am an individual whom believes in good quality and great service and there wasn't a shortage of either one of these qualities with these guys! We ordered a large L-shaped couch for our family room from Scandinavian Designs. After about a month, we noticed that the area in the corner seemed to be caving in a little bit. We have two young children, so you can imagine that the couch had a little wear and tear, even after only a few weeks. My wife decided that we should call and see what they could do. As a gloom-and-doom native New Englander, I immediately began to dread the upcoming battle that I was sure to endure. I could not have been more wrong. My wife called and spoke to the manager and explained our situation. I expected that they'd want to come out and look at it, and maybe offer us a credit or discount on a new unit. But that was not the case at all. Right there on the phone the manager offered to replace it. And, more impressively, they would have the replacement to us in the next week. One week later their delivery men were at the house. They removed the old couch and replaced it with a brand new one. No questions asked. No hassles. I could not be more pleased and recommend them highly. read more

Do not get anything delivered from this store. The delivery company damaged a 60 foot tree next to our driveway and were incredibly rude to us, saying they would not rectify the situation. Also asked twice for care information from the sales associates for the $2,000+ patio set we purchased to be emailed to us and it was never sent to us. We went to buy a desk for our home office. We purchased 2 items to go with it. That was June 11th. The desk was not delivered. The items we bought as add one were but the footings were not. We re-scheduled because the desk was not shipped and as a service recovery we were offered an extra piece at a discount. The piece came broken and not with the footings we were promised. Upon the rescheduled delivery we were told a day in advance that one piece was not sent so we could have a floor model. It was sent with no foot pegs so it is shorter than the other one. The desk has not arrived as promised or the pieces that were missing. Now we wait... one an a half months and still have no resolution. The General Manager won't call me as I requested and the follow up at this location is absolutely poor. Don't shop here. They are unprofessional sales people with no follow through with no problem resolution skills. If I could send this shit back I would!!! read more

I have been dealing with this store since March 2011. The salesman who helped us could not have been nicer and more helpful. I ordered an ottoman and was told it would take 8-14 weeks for it to arrive around June 10th at the latest. I put down my deposit as required and then went the next week with my husband and purchased 2 chairs, 2 end tables and a couch. I was told the items would be here in about 8 weeks. I put down the necessary deposit and placed the order. The couch and charis were on time and while I already question the quality of the items they look nice enough and haven't fallen apart yet in the month that I've had them. The ottoman on the other hand took an arm and a leg to literally get. I would call about every week and ask a status...god forbid they actually cared and would keep me up to date so of course I had to bug them. I was told it shipped on June 10th...where from I still am not quite sure because it didn't make it to my house until July 13th. I found it funny since I got a discount on it being "Made in America" but pretty sure it was shipped in America since it took over a month to get here. It was beyond annoying that I had to bug them without any calls on their own especially since we spent almost 4K with them. So the bottom line on what you need to know about Scandinavian Desings is this: They literally could give a shit about you so if you like their stuff just keep in mind that you can buy it just don't expect anything when it comes in really late and when they misapply the funds you've paid on different pieces of furniture don't be the least bit surprised when they act annoyed that you are asking them about it. They don't care about their customers and are annoyed when you have to speak with them after they have their money. When I called and asked to speak to their accountant I was told they didn't have one but yet when I gave my name the reaction I got was "Oh you" let me get her. I was like really...absolutely ridiculous. The furniture is unique and is nice but absolutely not worth the trouble if you encounter anything that requires a response especially if you expect a normal caring response instead of why are you bothering me today. I called the store and spoke with the manager, Rick, as I am moving into a new apartment at the end July (almost two months from now), and was in need of a couch. I saw one on their website that I fell in love with and was set on getting this particular couch. However, with my move in being a couple months away, I was worried I wouldn't be able to get the couch this soon, since I would have nowhere to put it until I moved in. Rick assured me that they could hold the couch for me until my move in date and deliver it on that Saturday when I moved in. I bought the couch (85" left arm chaise sectional for $799) and could not be happier! I was just as impressed with the quality of the couch as I was with the service. In comparison to other high end furniture retailers, Scandinavian Designs provides the same high quality materials and expensive looks without being overpriced. Avoid at all costs! Granted, their furniture is modern and looks nice, and the prices can be very good. But you will pay in other ways for the low cost. First, they have next to nothing in stock. Expect to wait at least one month for your order to ship, if you're lucky. I purchased a bedroom set and was told it would arrive in 3 weeks, and I'd be given a call in 2 weeks to let me know when I could pick it up. I received no call, and after a few days, called THEM and asked what was going on. Part of my order was sitting in their warehouse ready for pickup, and the rest was backordered 3 to 6 weeks! When I complained that it wasn't reasonable for me to not receive my full shipment for 2 months or more from the time of purchase, they referred me to their manager, who offered me a "discounted floor model" of my missing piece of furniture. I went in that day, and the "floor model" was actually a badly damaged clearance item for a whopping $40 less than the brand-new item! Because of a seriously terrible return policy, I now have no choice but to sit and wait for my full set of furniture, which will hopefully arrive in the next month (if they bother to call me when it finally arrives). I can't wait for IKEA to come to Denver and put this terrible business out of business! Again, avoid at all costs! read more
