I highly recommend making a shopping date with friends and then hitting coffee afterwards. Bonus: Flying Pig is typically open until 6 pm and Ginkgo 8 pm!! Flying Pig Thrift is staffed primarily by volunteers and everyone is beyond kind. Community resources are available onsite via a bulletin board and the shop supports 3 main non-profit groups. Within the dressing area room, there was a flyer supporting mental health resources and I smiled when I saw it. There are a wide variety of items that shift seasonally and frequently. Items are fairly priced and there are often sales, half price item days and even a permanent sale section in the back. I was really excited to score a denim button up with funky colorful bird designs, a cute yellow bee kind sweatshirt along with a black Nike top. I've purchased elegant fun gifts for friends at Omforme -- tell Carter about the recipient and he has always had a number of great suggestions. But my favorite part of Omforme is Carter's personal restyling of furniture. He carefully restores the original to beautiful condition, and then adds a bit of flavor to update it. I have also brought him some garage sale finds or family heirlooms, and each time he has transformed it from a boring old piece of furniture with "good bones" to something I love to see and use in my home. I also bought two vintages designer lights and a couple pieces of glass labware to put cocktails in and put on the rolling cart to roll around the house (see above). I also bought a very cool looking gumball machine where you push down a little lever and a gumball comes out.** **I have put real gumballs and M&M peanuts in this thing and it has yet to spit out a gumball. It's pretty cool, though. OK, these guys have vintage cocktail glasses and shakers (do you see a problem here?) and more labware that I might buy. And a couple great vintage stands from a chemistry lab that has lots of clamps for test tubes. I'm trying to justify this one. My god!! They have two gigantic overhead light fixtures on rolling frames. If you live in one of those hoity-toity warehouses there is no excuse not to buy these. O, VINYL RECORDS YOU PEOPLE. I came in specifically to look at Joybird sofas as they are an authorized retailer and have sofas on the sales floor. Its scary to make an online purchase (and such a large, custom purchase) without touching and feeling an item, so I was thrilled to learn this store was so close to home and had what I was looking to purchase. I had a great time working with Kristin. After countless emails and a couple visits to the store I ordered my sofa, and also ended up with a chair and lamp. Kristin was great to offer her designer opinion while listening to mine and helping me make the big decision based on my existing home design. They offer financing (OAC) and 'white glove' delivery (they take all the packaging stuff with them when they leave, set the item in the room of your choosing) just like Joybird, but they will for other items you purchase there, too. The kicker is the 2 week in home trial period. Keep it for two weeks and if you decide you hate it they will take it back to the store and offer you store credit to replace the item. This really eased my worry about spending 2K on a sofa I may not like as much in person. I can't wait until it arrives! They also have home decor items here, like pillows and lamps. Its a super fun place to just look around and get inspiration, or fall in love with a custom fox lamp which would totally look amazing on your nightstand. I wasn't sure if I could afford it so I had her price out a chair for me it was $1100 but they had a 20% off sale so it would be $880. I'm new to furniture shopshopping so I went to another store later (La-Z-Boy) and it was comparable to that. I walked in at 20 minutes to closing on a Sunday night, but Billie didn't seem rushed at all. I was the one saying "let's just wrap this up. Can you give me something to look at online?" And she gave me two websites she thought I would like based on our conversations and looking at what they have to offer.
