I did not plan on stopping by Scarpaletto Shoes but they had a table set up outside with a gorgeous pair of Frye boots marked up to 60 percent off. That's an attention grabber!!! Love this store! Phillip is amazing as are Kylie (sp?), Logan and one other person (whose name I forget) who's helped me in the past. Great service and they don't try to oversell despite having some incredible things in the store. Hard to find high end men's shoes and jackets in CO from a quality, style and fit perspective, but this place is terrific and isn't too pricey. Worth every penny! read more

Phil is the best! When I found out a friend would be passing through Denver on their way back to Alaska, I was hopeful that they could bring back a pair of my favorite boots with them (and save me some $$$ in shipping!). I called Scarpaletto Shoes and asked if they had these boots in stock, and sure enough, they did! Phil took down my information, verified they would be the correct style and size, and offered to hold them until my friend could come stop by. Be sure you are absolutely happy with your purchase before you leave the store because they have a NO RETURN POLICY. I purchased a pair of Cole Hahn shoes (a brand I wear regularly) for $180. I put them on to wear to work several days later and the shoes squeaked with every step. I contacted the store about 10 days after the purchase to ask about returning them for a refund. The owner, Phillip, told me I could only get an in-store credit and only if I came back within 2 weeks! The shoes were pristine as was the box they came in. I had only worn them on a carpeted floor for less than 5 minutes. I hadn't seen anything else I was interested in purchasing and since the store is smaller they have a limited selection of shoes and only a few of the Cole Hahn Air brand that I prefer. I was told there were signs in the store about the policy (never saw it or was told about it at the time of sale) it was printed on the receipt which I only looked at after Philip told me about it. He was unapologetic and seemed rather put out by my request. This just seems like a very poor policy and a great way to lose a customer. I am sure that if he had allowed me to return the shoes for a refund and told his wholesale company rep about the problem they would have refunded his money as they are a company that knows how to handle a complaint/problem. Scarpaletto's NO RETURN policy is a shameful way to do business. I actually contacted Cole Hahn directly to ask if they could help me out. The customer rep there couldn't give me a refund because I hadn't purchased directly from them but he immediately helped me to find a replacement that he offered to ship next day that was valued at more than the pair I purchased. He emailed me a pre-paid return label for the defective shoes. Took the hassle out of returning and he actually helped me find an even better fit for my shoe needs. read more

Great experience. I came here looking for a high quality boot that would last me 10-20 years. Never bought a pair like this but was tired of my shoes wearing out so quickly. I didn't know anything about boots, so I'd done a little research ahead of time. Phil, the owner, picked out the exact pair that he knew I'd want and was able to answer all of my detailed questions and even give me a bit of education in boot making and wearing. He's been doing this for 30 years in Denver, and his grandfather was a cobbler. He's also a polished salesman. When I went with a boot that was $120 less than the boot I came in looking for - per his suggestion - he made sure I got a great pair of socks and some shoe care products to take care of the boots I bought. But he wasn't pushy or slick - just genuine. He sold me what I needed, not what necessarily made him more money. read more

Shortly after moving to Denver to start a job, I paid Scarpaletto a visit to upgrade my footwear from 'student' to 'corporate.' I was pleasantly surprised by the stylishness and sturdiness of the items in their collection. I received personal attention from Phillip. I told him what I needed and he helped me quickly zero-in on my selections. Phillip isn't your typical salesman who directs you straight to the items he most wants to get off his shelf. He is a person who is passionate about comfort, style and durability when it comes to footwear. I told him my shoe size was ten, and when I was trying my shoes on he was quickly able to eyeball that what I really needed was size ten-and-a-half. Foot measurements quickly confirmed that my feet had grown since my last shoe purchase. Definitely get acquainted with Phillip when you visit as he is most helpful and friendly. I walked out of the store well over budget despite the discount but extremely satisfied. The shoes I purchased were metaphorically bullet-proof and I suspect I saved a lot of money on replacements in the long term. This is no Payless, and the selection is pricey. But as with wine and cheese, you get much better leather when you shell out a little extra. read more

Great shoes but on the pricier side. My negative review is for the owner/customer service. First of all, no returns. I was trying on a pair of shoes that I was on the fence about regarding size. The salesman assured me that he could order a size up if I wasn't sure. I took the shoes home but after sleeping on it, felt the size up would be better. When I went to the store the next morning for an exchange , the owner called and wasn't able to get my size in the color I wanted. He offered every other color under the sun, but I wanted black. He offered a store credit but I was literally on my way to the airport. Beware what salespeople tell you and make sure you get the right size before leaving. Very inflexible with exchanges. For $200 I expect knowledgeable people selling products I can rely on Shop with caution. read more

Point of information: this store no longer lives in the Cherry Creek Mall. They're now on Larimer Square, 1436, I believe. It was Mara, my girlfriend in 1997. She ruined me by buying me a pair of Kenneth Cole 3/4 wingtips. She turned me into a fop. Which means I started putting more care into my choice of footwear. Which means I became a Scarpaletto customer and bought my first pair of shoes from them -- a pair of brown Mezlan chelsea boots -- in 1998. I still have them, battered to hell and still looking better than half of my other stuff. Until this year, they were in the Cherry Creek Mall. Now they're a Larimer merchant with a bigger space, and -- for the first time -- a selection of women's shoes. Don't ask me about women's shoes. I can't decipher a single line or curve when I look at a woman's shoe. Although I love women who leave them on during sex. If I'm out shopping with a woman who pulls a pair off a shelf and says "Aren't these cute?" I ask her to hold them upside down behind her ears before I give an answer. But if the womens' stuff is as well-selected as the mens' always is, then you (you being a woman or a man with unusual taste) should check it out. Where was I? Oh, yes. Mens' shoes. Resolve to become a better species at one point in your life, gents, and take your time with the Kenneth Cole, Mezlan, Bacco Bucci and Donald Pliner (my newest discovery, incredibly well made stuff) on display at this thoughtfully stocked boutique. You'll leave a better man than when you entered; and much, much poorer. read more

Walked in this store a few times because the selection looks nice. They are never busy yet they never greet me. I work in retail, it's a good idea to say hello when a customer enters or how may I help you. Especially if no one else is in the store because then it's just awkward. I've been in this store several times and they definitely have beautiful products. However, of the 3-4 times I've been in this store, they've never been busy but I've only once had someone offer to help. My pet peeve when entering a store is when no one will even acknowledge my existence. I've worked retail enough to know that even when busy, a simple "Hello, someone will be right with you" will suffice. When a customer is picking up product and can be heard inquiring about price and fit, it would be wise to ask them if they need assistance. It seems basic customer service is a thing of the past. read more
