Great spot to visit. We didn't get the opportunity to check out the camp sites, but I look forward to doing that next visit. We had some time to burn so came to check out Scenic Beach State Park. It was not too crowded on an early Friday morning, so parking was abundant. We wandered around the day use area and down by the water. The view is spectacular! Surrounded by tall trees and forest it really feels like you are far from everything and is very serene. The restrooms were clean as was the park itself. There are plenty of picnic tables and a well-appointed playground for the littles. read more

This is one of my favorite state parks. They have the Sehmel house. You can rent that for $500 for the day. It has a bathroom changing rooms other room, rooms, kitchen a full set up for a baby shower, which is where I had my daughter's baby shower. I was actually married here. The camping is literally some of the best camping with awesome sites. It's a stunning location. read more

Beautiful state park with stunning mountain and bay views. I've only visited for day trips, but they have areas to camp. There is a playground for children, and several picnic benches near the waterfront for a great view. There bathrooms are clean, they have toilets and showers. There is also an outdoor rinse shower if you swim in the ocean and aren't camping there. The waterfront varies depending on the tides, so you can only walk so far on either side. It's really a perfect place to find your spot for the day, and enjoy your lunch with an incredible view. It's really peaceful and quiet. read more

The camp sites at Scenic Beach State Park were very spacious and were well separated by bushes and trees, providing a decent level of privacy. As a state park, there are modern amenities including flushing toilets and token-operated shower facilities. Our sites were clean, well groomed, and ready for summer adventures. As we checked in at the gate, we were able to buy firewood at the same time. The price was very reasonable and it was very convenient. In a short drive, we were at our assigned campsite. The campsites are not adjacent to the beach but it was close enough to walk. We enjoyed playing cards by the campfire, taking our walks, biking around the entire park, and enjoying being isolated in nature. We could not find trees that were suitable for hammocks, however, and I was disappointed but it is impossible to expect perfectly situated trees at every campsite. We brought our paddle boards but when we checked out the beach, we found the access to be a bit difficult for us. The rocks together with the distance from the parking lot to the beach discouraged us from paddle boarding for this camping trip. However, we did enjoy playing at the beach and watching a few people on their paddle boards. All in all, we would love to come back and try a different spot! read more

We recently attended the memorial service for a precious little boy from our community. Scenic Beach was one of his favorite spots. The service was held on the Emel Hiuse property just to the left of the house. The setting was absolutely lovely. There's plenty of room for 150 to gather for a wedding or other event. Because it's a state park a pass is required to get in except for an event. Just tell them at the gate who and what you are there for. Parking is very limited so events should take that into consideration. It's an easy walk to the venue. Beautiful peek a boo view of the water but a short walk to a better view. read more

Pretty clean place overall but also seems like a nanny park for sure. The beach access area is not very big nor wide With lots of little flying bugs decomposing the seaweed on the rocky shore. Private beach on both sides with stern warning signs that you'll be fine with trespassing if you go past the signs. Everywhere a sign! The walk down and back up like the sign say are very steep and there is no place to rinse your feet at the bottom. Beautiful park. Campsites are spaced nicely. Pull through sites, enough space for one (or two tents). Stayed from Sunday to Thursday. Hike down to the beach is downhill, fyi. Another review said it was tough for older folks. I agree, but even for younger folks, with beach gear. Restrooms are clean (but dated). Showers require token. Wood is available from checkin, NOT the camphost. He was surprised (and seemed annoyed) that we asked. Thought that was "standard," but I guess not. Went into town for pizza one night and hit up the general store and pizza place. Good stuff. Very nice people! read more

. A Supersized Mini-Vacation Not sure if Scenic Beach State Park is open, but I highly suggest a visit post C-19. Back in the pre C-19 days we would take a picnic lunch with us from Danny's BBQ (see my review). The park faces Hood Canal. On clear days there is an amazing view of the Olympic Mountains. I can't do this place visual justice, so here's a partial list of what the park offers: Scenic charm. Trees! Woodsy hiking paths. Seasonal explosion of rhododendrons. Dog-friendly. Rustic-looking bridges. Picnic tables. Camping - 52 tent spaces. Large group accommodations. I'm not sure what pull-through sites are, but they have 18 of them. Boat ramp. Playgrounds. Nice restrooms. Pay for showers. A world of birds. Other wildlife. Sorry, no Big Foot sightings to date :( Try to avoid going on the weekends. It can get pretty crowded. Family groups with at least one screaming kid abound. read more

Scenic Beach State Park (SBSP) is one of the hidden gems in Kitsap County (Washington State's most neglected county). There is a decent amount of parking and it's not difficult to find. There are a good number of BBQ pits and open tables in which one can have a great meal with a great view (on a sunny day). read more

What a lovely play area for a nice sunny afternoon with the family!! There is a small entrance fee to get inside the park and to get to the beach you need to walk through a nice campground/pic nick area and down a few steps. We weren't used to all the rocks and shells, but luckily my kids were wearing crocs shoes. It was a quiet afternoon and my kids enjoyed skipping rocks on the water, soaking their feet and looking for sea shells. read more

We did some winter camping here this January, we were the only ones camping, but there were still some day users walking around the loop. Like others have mentioned, huge park, playgrounds, day use parking. The beach was beautiful, oyster harvesting was closed but you can see them and expended shells scattered all along the beach. The campsites were great, clean, 2 restroom buildings that I could see (the upper half of the camp sites were closed off for the winter). The restrooms were bright and clean! The water was shut off for the winter but very accessible from our sites. The park ranger was very friendly, checked in on us after we first arrived. He even delivered the fire wood we bought from him, and the bundles (boxes) we quite large in the winter season! Loved it! We'll be back! read more

Come to Kitsap County and check out this place! The only downfall to this specacular park is the $10 fee. Other than that- there's campgrounds with water views, trails, volleyball pit, TONS of picnic tables with little grills handy. I have memories from here that were started as a little girl and have only gotten better as I have grown. Whether you come for a group function, a casual volleyball game or even a swim in the lovely puget sound-you're sure to leave with at least a few memories :) The bathrooms are clean and well maintained-coined showers which you can purchase at the ranger station! read more

It's somewhat of a bummer that the campsites don't overlook or even view the water. But the park itself is great, there is a HUGE beach and it basically sits at the bottom of the Olympics so you get an stunning view to look at. The campsites were OK- there were some sketchy campers there... I think they may have been living there maybe? But other than that it was clean and noone really bothered us(we had a large group of people for a weekend and I would assume we were fairly loud but the campsites are spread apart pretty well so it wasn't bad). read more

It's a simple little chunk of beautiful scenery to take a short walk in or relax. There is camping facilities but we use this place as a walking place if we don't want to drive further than down the street which this happens to be for us at the moment. It's been pretty busy this summer and it was our first summer in the area so I'm not sure if that is typical. My toddler loves the little empty cabin and play structure. I prefer the small trails. Stunning view and great area to hang out and play. The beach is fine if you do not mind rocks and shells instead of your traditional sands. There really isn't much to do besides camping, oyster shucking, setting up volley balls or if you have kids, there is a playground there. Other than that, if you want to sit there and skip rocks, it is a great place to go and it's not that far of a drive like most places in Kitsap county. You do have to pay to get into the lot if you do not have a Discover Pass. read more

This is a family favorite place to go and explore. We are from Florida, so the beach is much different from the sandy shore variety we are used to. The whole beach is rocks, so sturdy shoes are a must. But, what is really fun is lifting up the rocks to find crabs, little fish, and other cool things! My husband and I enjoy this just as much as the girls. The views of the mountains are amazing. The upper portion of the park has picnic tables, a playground, and walking trails that are stroller accessible. We enjoy swinging by Seabeck pizza on the way through town to take here and eat for lunch. Note: WA state has recently began charging a state park fee of $10 per day (which is a bit expensive) or you can buy a Discovery Pass for $30 annually (great deal, covers all state funded parks) read more

I've spent time in many a state park camping facility, but this is the best. Every spot is well thought out and PRIVATE with greenery between the sites to give you complete privacy. Each campsite has a flat place for a tent and a good spot if you have a car camper. Showers and bathrooms conveniently located AND! The beach is amazing. It's called scenic beach for a reason. My wife and I needed to dip in a body of water, badly, for years. So after a day hike in the Olympics, we spotted this on the map and thought, this water may be warm enough to take a dip in. Sure enough it was and there were not too many others out, but they were all certainly enjoying the warm waters also. The mountains are epic!. Don't forget to wear water shoes or sandals so you don't have to worry about carelessly cutting your foot open. So worth getting out of the city for this lovely spot. read more

Spent Memorial day weekend in site #15. The campground was fantastic, and here's why: 1) our site was pristinely clean, you could even see the rake marks in the dirt 2) we were camping with kids and this park has multiple playgrounds 3) the sea-life to be seen at low tide was awesome for the kids. Not great if you want peace and quiet, great if you have a large family, many kids or a large group camping. There are restrooms with showers, a large playground, plenty of park space to play volleyball, etc. This would probably be a great campground to party. That being said, if you want a peaceful camping trip in the woods, this is not the place. It was so noisy- we could hear the people in every site nearby...from 6 in morning, all day well in to the night around 2am. We have a small tear-drop style trailer and even inside, it was so loud, people kept us up; we left a day early. The views are indeed breathtaking, but the volume of people on the beach, around the beach and running and screaming through the park and campground made it feel more like the parking lot of Walmart instead of a tranquil campground. We camp all summer and have hit most of the campgrounds in and around the Olympic peninsula; this isn't one we will visit again. read more

A great park to visit for the day or stay overnight. If you plan to park in the main lot and explore, you need a discovery pass ($40?) or pay the day fee ($10.) If you are checking into a campsite, one cars entry is included. The beach is a good size as long as the tide is cooperative. There's a playground under the big trees in the middle of the park. Showers, restrooms are all right there. The campsites are fairly private. The park attendants have always been great when we've stayed and no one has been overly rowdy. There aren't any "good view" campsites that I know of. I like that this park is far enough off the main drag that you get the feeing of being secluded but in all reality if you forgot a lighter or you're really jonesin for a Coke, the general store is right down the way. They stock a good bit of campers supplies. And there's also a pizza shop and coffee stand right beside the general store. So, you're covered. If you're into hiking, try out the Guillemot Cove trail. read more

An idyllic park and well maintained campground. The campsites are private and the parking spots or pull throughs are large. The sites are a five minute walk to the beach, which is fun for looking under rocks and swimming (wear water shoes - lots of rocks and oyster shells). Pay attention to tides as the beach is a narrow strip at high tide. The beach faces west making it excellent for sunsets and stargazing. Not too much to do nearby, but not a problem if your goal is to relax. read more
