The program feels a bit overwhelmingly complex at first. They have many options and different events, dates, milestones... once we attended for a month or so I got the hang of things. Best Place Ever!!! Our son has been wanting to do taekwondo for awhile, and we finally gave it a try in June. It was the best decision ever. Everyone there is really, quite wonderful. They are kind to the students, but hold them to high standards, which I love. Our son is only 5, but has progressed enough he will get to test for his first belt in a few weeks. I feel completely blessed my son goes here! He just loves it and I see so many positive changes in him already. We're new to Petaluma and where looking for a place that wasn't intimidating and was friendly. It's my sons first time ever doing any sort of martial arts so he was a bit nervous. Our daughter attended classes here. During the peak of Covid, the classes were held outdoors and it was such a blessing to have ATA as an outlet for her. Everyone is polite and my daughter always looked forward to her class time with Master Bam, Mack and Schafer. We recently moved out of the area and my daughter still talks about how much she misses her ATA family. Our family does not look at Taekwondo as another sport for our kids; we look at it as another school...a school of life skills that will serve our children not just for a few seasons but for the rest of their lives. Mr. Schafer is an exception teacher and inspirational human being. The command he has over his students is a delicate balance of firmness with high expectations along with gentle molding and deep devotion. He is heavily invested in his students not just at Taekwondo but in their lives outside of school, as well. It is common to hear about how he attended someone's birthday party, graduation, or visited someone who was ill. He makes his self available to parents, too. One of our kids was having trouble at school and Mr. Schafer was right there, supporting our family with getting our child back on track. He is genuine in his passion for Taekwondo and the amount of dedication he has for his school as well as his students is evident every day we attend class! Mr. Schafer has an exceptional staff who share his passion for Taekwondo and contribute to the school's supportive family atmosphere. Daniel likes Schafer's ATA Martial Arts because they teach him Ninja things. He also likes the sparring classes and loves the Hyper program. He is in the leadership program and he likes it because it makes him not be shy. Adrian says "Schafer's ATA Martial Arts has lots of kinds of weapons like BoStaffs, Swords and Nunchakus. They get you fit and stretchy. Their instructors are very nice and cool. They teach you all kinds of martial arts moves like a front kick, an outer crescent kick and a tornado kick.
