Think Twice Before Hiring Groundworks…read more I hesitated to write this review because, to be fair, Groundworks has some genuinely good employees -- I met a few and appreciated their professionalism. But this review isn't about the people. It's about the company itself. A few months ago, I hired Groundworks for foundation repair. The total cost? $20,000. A serious investment, but one I believed was necessary. Before the work began, I had Air & Drain Works perform a hydrostatic test to check for plumbing leaks. The results came back clean -- no issues. After Groundworks completed the foundation lift, Air & Drain Works returned for a post-test. That's when the trouble started. The lifting process had caused a leak. A costly one. The repair estimate? Over $10,000. I reached out to Groundworks multiple times, hoping for some accountability or at least a conversation. Nothing. No returned calls. No follow-up. It's amazing how responsive they are when they're trying to win your business -- and how silent they become when you need help after the fact. So here's my advice: if you're considering foundation work, look elsewhere. Find a company that stands by their work after the job is done -- especially when their actions lead to expensive consequences. If this review makes even one person reconsider, then maybe Groundworks will realize that ignoring customers after the check clears isn't a sustainable business model.

His crew was respectful, hardworking, and showed great attention to detail throughout the entire process. The project was completed on time, and they went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right. The quality of the concrete work exceeded my expectations, and the entire experience was smooth and stress-free. If you're looking for a reliable concrete contractor for patios, driveways, or any concrete work, I highly recommend Ricardo and his team. It's hard to find this level of dedication and service these days. I will definitely be calling them again for future projects.

I had 5 contractors come to my house to bid the job. They came and looked at the job, but they never called back and never responded with a quote. They ghosted me. Then I called Affordable Concrete & Construction. Ricardo came, inspected the job, and offered me a quote on the spot. I was impressed by his knowledge and professionalism. The bid was significantly lower than the ONE other bid I received. Ricardo and his crew did a great job--we are so happy with the results. I highly recommend Affordable Concrete & Construction.

I hired Benjamin's Concrete & Landscaping, LLC to rebuild half of my back porch, including pouring…read morea new concrete slab and reframing the structure. The contract clearly stated that he was responsible for obtaining a building permit, ensuring the work passed inspection, and properly closing the permit. Although the permit was eventually issued, no inspector ever visited the site, and there was no follow-up. As of today, the official public records have not been updated in months. Benjamin claims the permit was closed with a successful inspection on his end, but the public record still shows it as open and incomplete. Concrete Slab Issues: We agreed that the new slab should appear as seamless and consistent as possible with the existing half of the porch. Unfortunately, the result is clearly mismatched. The new concrete is gray, while the original is white-toned. Benjamin said the color would "change over time," but it hasn't. Worse, the surface finishes are different--my original slab is smooth, while the new one is brushed--making the difference even more obvious. Material Substitution and Framing: Benjamin initially proposed using cedar for the new framing, and that was written into the contract. However, after waiting a full month for the permit, he arrived with pine instead. When I reminded him about the cedar requirement, he seemed frustrated but eventually ordered the correct wood. Because pine and cedar have different dimensions, the resulting structure ended up uneven in thickness. I repeatedly asked for symmetry across the frame, but those requests were not followed. Additionally, the concrete post bases were sized for the pine posts he brought initially. When he switched to cedar, he didn't update the bases, so the wood-to-concrete connections look mismatched and unprofessional. Payment Pressure: The contract divided the work into two phases--concrete and framing--with payment scheduled after completion of the slab. I clearly communicated in advance that I would pay 70% after the concrete and the remaining balance once the framing was finished. Despite this, right after the slab was poured, Benjamin began asking for 100% of the payment daily, saying he needed the money to pay his workers. That excuse, to me, was completely unprofessional and raised serious concerns about how he manages his business. A contractor or company should never pressure a client mid-project for funds that were not yet contractually due. Communication and Conduct: When I asked about the concrete quality, Benjamin said it would be 3500 PSI. I noted that such strength generally requires vibration for proper compaction, which he didn't use. Instead of answering directly, he responded, "Why are you so picky?"--a dismissive and unprofessional reply. He later claimed he went over budget because he spent "most of a day" looking for cedar. I asked why that wasn't handled during the month-long wait for the permit. His last-minute scramble directly affected the quality of the outcome. Lack of Care for Property: Benjamin also dumped the leftover white soil from the job directly onto my lawn without asking. The pile is still there, sitting on the grass, and shows a disregard for my property. Final Thoughts: Benjamin seems to think the project was done well. While it's not completely bad, it's clear he ignored important details, disregarded agreed terms, and did what he thought was "good enough." If you're just pouring a basic sidewalk, he might be fine. But for anything requiring consistency, planning, or respect for your input--I do not recommend him.
