This place is stunning! It has huge windows to bring in a ton of natural light, but the windows are tinted to keep it cool. There are a ton of plants all over so the outside is brought in- my favorite. The children's section is behind doors to the main library where kids can play and read. The library also has a lovely shaded courtyard where you can read. Behind the library is a very large playground. It was so nice and clean and beautiful- there were restrooms, too. I will definitely be back with my daughter- this leaves a lot to be desired from my local library. read more

Such a beautiful library filled with light and roomy spaces. The space is welcoming with wide spaces and ample seating. There's also an outside area for you to enjoy and a playground. I was mainly there for the annual book fair so I don't use this library regularly. However, it looks like a great place and had plenty of parking and was easy access from the highway. read more

My kids and I have been going to this library for years. Right next door is a large playground this place is great to cool off afterward. Inside they have an enclosed children's area. In the children's area are board games, computers, and a restroom. They have tablets available to help search up books of interest. There is also an all-purpose room in which they host various monthly activities. The activities can be viewed on their website but they also have flyers posted at the library's front entrance. There are also many places to sit and enjoy the book on chairs, couches, or reading rugs. We have always loved their summer programs and crafts. In the main area of the library, they have computers, printers, access to the outdoor garden, and a number of side rooms. The side rooms have a table and a couple of chairs which would be great for study time. They have books, DVDs, audio books to check out. At the front entrance of the library are the restrooms, vending machines, and thrift bookstore. This place is kept well maintained with clean restrooms, windows, and no random trash about. A lot of their events are geared toward children (which is a total hit) but wished they had more for teens as well. read more

My review is about the library's shining star; Ms.April. She is the librarian and much more in the children's section. Ms.April is kind, helpful, and a joy to children. You can tell that this is her passion. She has offers book recommendations based on your child's preference and/or personality. I enjoy that she asks for constructive criticism for each book regardless of likes/dislikes. Her suggestions have been spot on that I ended up purchasing certain books from an online store. Thank you, Ms.April! The library itself has an abundance of literature for adults and children. They also have computers for both, study areas, dvd's, and a mini play area for the kids. Actually in love with this library! While visiting Schertz Public Library after years apart, I felt a wave of nostalgia and happiness. This library is every bookworm's dream. There is definitely something here for everyone, whether you're looking for children's books, manga, autobiographies, or a good old romance novel. You can browse the book selection online and reserve books easily with your library card info. They'll send you a text when your book is ready and it will be neatly labeled in the front of the library! It's so fun browsing the selection in person and online. Appalled by this library's discriminatory circulation policy. I visited with my 3 year old and tried to check out age appropriate books for him and was flatly and unapologetically denied due to being an out of state resident. The clerk was unhelpful and coldly dismissive. I am temporarily here for military training, living out of a hotel and have no "proof of residency" sufficient to allow my child to utilize this library. Despite stating this, my children are excluded from this PUBLIC resource. my child is discriminated against as a result of my service. My son left in tears as the books he picked out remained on the counter. Are there no exceptions to this absurd residency policy? There is certainly no empathy from the library staff. This library is one of the most beautiful libraries that I've seen in Texas! If you are a fan of modern architecture, you definitely need to check this place out. This library is very family friendly with nice staff and a great playground in the back for the kids. Their children's section is very large and I noticed on their facebook page that they have several events throughout the year for the whole family. I went here for the first time this past Friday for their library bag sale. I almost didn't want to write this review because I wanted to keep the awesomeness to myself. Every summer they have a bag sale. You buy a plastic bag and then fill it for books for a set price - this year it was $4. I bought 4 bags right away and I was able to get over 100 books for my classroom for only $16, and the vast majority were donated books instead of withdrawn library books. The best part was that I was able to find popular titles like Magic Treehouse, Junie B Jones, Bailey School Kids, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Goosebumps. These books would easily sell for over $1.00 at half price books, so these were a steal! I arrived a half hour early because I wanted to avoid traffic and there was already a line outside. I was thinking to myself, "What is this, Black Friday?". I was glad that I was one of the first one's in line because as soon as they let us in it was like a madhouse with people grabbing books left and right. 20 minutes after the sale started the entire children's section of books was gone. In addition to a children's section they had several tables with books for adults as well. I like that there are no restrictions on how many bags you can buy and the money goes right back to the library, so it's for a good cause too. After the sale I was looking at my haul and realized that I definitely could have fit more books in the bags, so next time I can buy less bags. Don't miss the bag sale at this library! It's a must for teachers, parents and all book lovers! read more

What an incredible, awesome library! I only wish the hours started earlier in the day (for a morning person myself). I was impressed with the high ceilings, wide glass walls allowed for a wonderfully lit atmsosphere, large selection of books/material/dvds/blu-ray, and a dedicated wing to Childrens books. All of which are fairly new. What I was most impressed with, however, was the amount of study areas to choose from. There were large tables adjacent to the windows, chairs with a small table attached if you like to lounge, but most importantly for me were the study rooms for individuals (see pictures I uploaded). I get distracted easily so getting into one of these rooms is necessary for my focus and I couldn't be more happier with my studies so far. I appreciate the City of Schertz for providing such a wonderful library that suits the community's needs and also am excited the activities that children and adults can experience here. Looove my city library! My family has been going here for years. Children's programming is great & always varied so kids don't get bored. Their reading programs are great to keep kids into reading-loooved the city-wide reading spots! Adult programming has improved too. I just wished some of those programs fit my working-mom schedule. read more

Long story short, I love this library! It's quiet and peaceful and the big windows really make the building feel more alive. Computers and wifi had no problems and people were very quiet and respecful. I also love the design of the building! I'm a student at UTSA and live in Cibolo. I would end up driving 30 mins to the campus library just to study until I found this beauty. Only thing I don't like about the library is the business hours. I wish they either opened earlier or closed later, especially on weekends. Most of the time I have things to do during the day, leaving my studying for the evening. Unfortunately, the library closes at around 6 on the weekends. Overall, great library! Definitely gonna spend most of my time there. read more

I'm only giving this 3 stars because its the only place that offers books in the Schertz/Cibolo area (you'd think the city would build more bookstores than fast food places, hmmmm). That aside, it is a decent local library with some friendly staff members. I used to study here every now and then, but the reason why I would've originally given it 2 stars is because I can't bring any drinks or snacks. I've literally been scolded for bringing a water bottle. However, this was last year, so I don't know if their rules have changed since then. But for a place where people usually study for hours on end, I'd expect to be allowed to bring some food and a drink. read more

I'll start off saying Aesthetically, it is very nice. I'm giving it 2 stars for the book selection availability ( I normally have to go to SAPL for a lot of books). Maybe they could form some sort of partnership with one of the other surrounding cities? Also, I really hate how they ruin paperback books by taping the reserved sheet to the outsides when they could just place the slip of paper inside the books like other libraries do. Lastly, there is one librarian there who is very rude and condescending. If I need help I will usually just leave instead of asking her because of how she speaks to customers. read more

This is a fantastic public library. It's bright, spacious and well-stocked with classic and new books. Also, it's DVD selection is varied and expansive. Even better than the DVDs is the VHS collection! So much random nostalgia to peruse. I've never used the public computers, but there are lots of them, and usually some open ones available. I love the self check-out stations, they are user friendly and so quick. There is a separate children's room as well, which is something that all libraries should mimic. read more

I love how the children have a HUGE section just for them and since its separate kids don't have to be quite so quiet, and there are some games for them and computers the adults in other areas aren't disturbed. The adult area is quite expansive as well and all the books are newer since this location is new. That said there is lots of selection. The DVD section is kinda small but that's not why I come to the library. ;) The have several study areas that are in their own room with a chair and door so they have completely quiet area. They have plenty of computers for the adults as well. Also some tables & comfy chairs in which to read, right by the floor to ceiling windows. read more

Pros: 1) Librarians very helpful 2) Good selection of books 3) Love the three day grace period for overdue books. Cons: 1) When school is in session the foyer is overrun by teenagers who are obscene, cussing, making out sexually, and other detrimental behavior. The only way to enter the library for patrons is through this same lobby of terrorizing teens, which makes it extremely difficult for me, and I don't even want to think about parents bringing young children into the library. The teens are rude, disrespectful and I have felt physically threatened before. They congregate from 3:30-closing time at 8:00 p.m. on school days. They also go into the private study rooms and use them as their own sexual makeup centers. I would say what I have seen in person, but am not comfortable doing so in this format. Needless to say, I deem it extremely inappropriate for any public venue, much less a library. 2) The internet server invariably knocks people off the server if you have your own tech devices. Even if you choose to use the library computers, they are also very slow and will often kick you off the internet as well. If the teenagers were made to adhere to library rules and standards and come inside the library and not "live" in the foyer scaring innocent people it would be a tremendous step up. If the internet, which is now a part of civilized society were more up to speed, literally it would also increase my rating greatly. This is one of the best libraries I have ever been to! However... I get a creepy feeling in a couple of the study rooms and the chair in the genealogy room doesn't sit well with me. I love coming to this library to study. The design is nice and the large windows makes it the perfect place to read on sunny and even gloomy days since the lighting is good. I like that the children's area is separate to the side with many activities (computers, toys, puzzles) and study tables for the adults and older kids. A plus that they have study rooms (first come, first serve) I just wish that the rooms were near the windows and more soundproof. They also have many family events on their calendar and additional resources with your library card. read more

My family loves to read. So being a practical mom I bring my children to the library to barrow books instead of buying them. But this library has limited selection of books. We came from CA and we can barrow even the newest book released. I hope they can add more books because this library is huge, clean and more space available for books. read more
