Just outside of Tombstone is this rock cairn monument to the city's founder,Ed Schiefflin. There's a table to sit at if you want to have a picnic and enjoy the scenic hillside. There is a information kiosk, but it's so weathered, you barely can read it. So I would say, it's something to see one time. The resting place of the founder of the city of Tombstone, where his first mining camp was, or his first claim was. It might be a little surprising Ed Schiefflin isn't in Boothill cemetery or the city cemetery. He is right where he wished to be laid to rest, with his tools and his mining clothes. read more

Schieffelin Monument is the last resting place of Ed Schieffelin, the prospector who discovered the mineral deposits that triggered the Tombstone silver boom in 1877.
