Huachuca City is a dinky place, population about 1,800. Yet it provides its residents and residents…read moreof the surrounding community, including Whetstone, where I live, with a lot of services. For example, there is a two-bus transit system that carries people around inside Huachuca City and even to Sierra Vista, a much larger city -- about 40,000 -- with stores and restaurants and movie theaters. There is an excellent 5-star library (that is, I give it five stars), a fire department that is right now, November of 2017, having some internal problems, a police department that seems too large for such a dinky town but I've had no dealings with it so can't further comment, and some problems with the politics of the town -- about which I am ignorant so can't and won't comment. But, where I can comment, as with my dealings with Jeanette, the nice lady who handles appointments for the bus, and the wonderful library employees, a 5-star rating is appropriate. For anyone interested in moving to Southeastern Arizona, I strongly urge you to consider coming to this area. Homes in Huachuca City can seem ridiculously low, especially to this former Californian who can say you can buy an entire house and yard here for what would barely be a down payment in, say, Los Angeles's San Fernando Valley. And you won't find, anywhere in these United States, nicer, more cordial, more friendly, more open people. It's a great place to live and to do business.

My experience with the Tucson Police Department showed me very clearly why people hate cops. I was…read morepulled over for going 45 in a 45 mile an hour Zone . The cop said it was a 25 mile an hour zone. i told him repeatedly that after the 25 mile an hour sign there were 45 mile an hour signs (plural). This dumbass gave me a ticket anyway so i had to either pay a fine for a ticket I wasn't guilty for, pay for a class to keep my record clean, or fight the ticket in court. It cost me over $1,000 to fight the ticket in court and the jackass cop didn't even have the balls to show up. I can understand people making mistakes, but this one had a significant price tag to it i volunteer and I shot that local businesses the money I would spend on giving back to my community and purchasing goods from local mom and pop shops has been decimated for one month so when the economy is drowning you can bet your sweet ass at the Tucson cops are going to make it worse..​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

One of the most valuable assets in the Town of Oro Valley's portfolio is it's Police Department. All were motivated, hard working and decent folks who obviously took pride in the job and their department. The Department is well funded, professionally staffed and has the luxury of handpicking the best experienced officers, from other Arizona police agencies, when a staff vacancy occurs because of its outstanding reputation. Most police departments have at least one officer whose actions can taint the entire agency. If Oro Valley PD has that officer on staff, I have yet to meet or hear of him/her. If you are considering moving to Oro Valley, AZ to join me in retirement or for a move up in other ways, be assured your police department will keep you and yours safe while you live your life in one of southern Arizona's best communities to live in.

I typed up a letter explaining that residents in my neighborhood were driving 35-45 mph down N…read more Crooked Peak Trl in Marana, AZ and hand delivered it to the Marana Police Station. Some officer came out to inform me the traffic sergeant was out for the month doing exercises but would certainly call me and look into this. Well, that was 2 months ago and nobody has ever contacted me or made a Police presence to enforce the 25 mph speed limit here. I guess there is only one traffic sergeant in Marana and when he's out, anyone can speed and not get pulled over . I just called them at 1323 on 12/15/24 informing them speeders still exist. Again, the female dispatcher wanted to transfer me to the traffic sergeant's VM so I could leave another unanswered phone call. They are absolutely worthless. Until someone is hit by one of these speeders, Marana Police Dept will do NOTHING! Marana Police Dept needs to be dissolved and have the Pima County Sheriff's Dept take over.
