I arrived the restaurant at about 5:25pm, and was looking at its menu posted outside when a man…read morecame out to unlock the door. I was the first customer to be seated, but soon after many other diners came in and filled up the main dining room very quickly. I later realized that there was another dining room as more diners came in and were ushered into the other room. There were 3 soup choices and I chose the noodle soup with beef. For entree I picked a small portion (I.e. 1 piece of meat rather than 2 pieces) of Schnitzel of pork that came with a side dish, and I chose the local home-made noodles. For drink I ordered a small local draft beer. The soup came very quickly and it was a very generous big bowl of soup. My entree came with my choice of sauce and I was very happy with the chunky mushrooms in my mushroom sauce. The schnitzel was quite a big piece of meat so I was glad to have ordered the smaller portion instead of the full portion with 2 pieces of meat. The noodles tasted very good but I could not finish it. The only surprise was that they did not take credit cards so I was glad to have some Euro cash on me. I was happy with the overall experience and a very hearty meal in a very homey setting.

Schwaebische (Swabian) spaetzle, pomme frites, and of course lots of different schnitzel, a main stay of Germany-South. The other area the menu goes deep and exceptional is on panned meats. The germans call it Pfanne. Maybe a mix of steaks in the pan, pork cutlets. If you know some german you can bargain for different sauces on your meats, and then go for spaetzle, pommes or a mix is ok with them too. The Familie Bosch team is relaxed so you definitely ask for things and they will do it. It is a big team so ask anyone on the team for help if they are too busy to see your need. Decent wine list, good schnapps for afterward. It was the best real german on our trip through Frankfurt, Baden, and Berlin. Like you were at grandma's house, and they have a patio and 3 different rooms, I like the rooms in the back near the patio, or the patio itself. ENJOY! Say hi to Carl! The elderly gentleman, who was born in this 500 year old house, near the Rhine river and in Germany's warmest zone, the south Rhine lands of Baden (next to the Black Forest).

Colmar is a wonderful town. And there are countless dining options. We did some research and chose…read morethis restaurant for our first night in town. We made a reservation several weeks before. Which was a good thing, since they had to turn away several guests that night. Our English Bulldog was welcome here as well, which was very nice of them. The menu in this Michelin restaurant is compact, but has something for every taste. It's modern french cuisine I'd say. We ordered a glass of local Riesling with our starters. There was a complementary Amuse-Bouche. A kind of cream-puff, but savoury with a creamy, cheesy filling. A really tasty appetizer. For starters we chose the Galantine duck and foie gras and trout carpaccio. Both fantastic choices. Wonderful duck and foie gras (mi-cuit), matched the Riesling perfectly. And the trout (pink/orange) was better quality-wise than most salmon in any other restaurants we know. High quality, fresh, highly enjoyable. For the mains we ordered the Veal shank confit and the Milk-fed lamb shoulder. Both excellent dishes. A bottle of red with that . I know duck confit, but veal confit (72 hours) was new to me. What a tender, juicy piece of meat. Actually: Piece of art! And the sauce...heaven! Confit is something you need to try. And this place here would be perfect for that. But also the lamb was wonderful. Equally tender, very smooth and with a rich sauce. You wouldn't even know it's lamb taste-wise, it was just perfect. There wasn't any room for desserts after this rich meal. A really fantastic dinner in a wonderful restaurant with a classic and cosy setting. It was pretty packed, so the staff was pretty busy. But they were quick and attentive, just didn't really have time for a quick chat or so. Price-wise it was fair. Around 150 Euros for two glasses of white, a bottle of red, two starters and two mains. For this quality? I would actually even say more than fair. A great place.
