What a breath of fresh air! A chance to write a raving review. I can't say enough good things about my recent experience at Schlotzsky's in Longview, TX. In today's world, the bar has been lowered so far that the expectation is to receive poor service from employees who couldn't care less about you, food that is subpar to say the least, and a restaurant that is filthy at best. Imagine my shock when my wife and I walked into this Schlotzsky's and the place was clean and bright. It was clearly something else before they took it over, but there was obvious pride in the cleanliness. The gentleman who greeted us looked us in the eye, had a genuine smile, and was incredibly polite. He asked to take our order and if we were having a good day. He was actually... well... NICE! It was a very pleasurable experience. We ordered, grabbed our drinks, and didn't have to wait long before he brought the food to our table. Again, he was smiling--like he actually enjoyed his job. He made sure we had everything we needed before leaving us to eat. Mind you, we lost our "local" Schlotzsky's and had to drive about an hour to get to this one. We usually eat there once or twice a month, so I know what to expect. This sandwich was a step above. Maybe it was the euphoric high from experiencing good customer service outside of my normal haunts, or maybe it was just the fresh ingredients and the fact it was warm from the oven. Either way, it was good. If you like Schlotzsky's--or if you're like me and try to only frequent places that provide exceptional service to the people who give them a reason to have a job--you need to try this place. read more

Schlotzsky's Longview--you've completely restored my faith that great food and outstanding service still exist! The young man who took our order was truly exceptional--friendly, polite, and genuinely welcoming, with a smile that made the whole experience even better. Honestly, he's the kind of employee every place hopes to have. We'll absolutely be back. Even though we're about an hour away now (since our local Schlotzky's closed due to declining service and food quality), this location is more than worth the drive. read more

I love this place. I purchased a gift card for a whole yr of b1g1 and prior to this I would not pay that price for a sandwich. Well I am now in love with the avocado turkey it is so big and thick I can't finish a medium in one sitting. Always a hit! The staff is always friendly and the food is always fresh! My boyfriend and I love this for a light dinner or lunch to avoid having something heavy on the stomach. NOT AT ALL!!! Every single time I go up there something is wrong!!! They always make my sandwich wrong. Then when you try to go back for them to remake it they " supposedly" cant do anything about it. After you just spent $11 fkin dollars on a damn sandwich the LEAST you can do is make it right. I worked at schlozkys in Longview for over 3 years I been loyal to this company I didn't call in I worked hard I even did extra, everyone would tell you I was a great employee but the over all managed has issues and is very childish, so much so good loyal people are getting fired or quit because of her she has made my life hard she would send me home early everyday so I wouldn't get hours and the 28th the owner scheduled me for 1 day so I called to ask him he said she didn't want me there so it was going to be this way. The owner has stopped caring about his company she runs it for him so he let's her be mean to all of us. The food and service has went down I had customers complain about the food not being as good and the service. Well one managed got into a argument with a 16 year old girl no good reason the manager was yelling using cussing words with customers in there and in the drive. The big managed Dana covered for her and the 16 year old lost her job. Misty the bread maker was transferred to a store in Tyler although she has been there for way more years than me because Dana didn't like she is gay and started treating her bad as soon as she found out yet again the problem is still there. When the old one burned down we were heartbroken. When we heard they were rebuilding we were overjoyed. When we heard it had reopened we couldn't wait to drive into Longview and try it. It was a HUGE disappointment!! I travel all over Texas and always order the same thing, bbq chicken jalapeno pizza. I've ordered this from Shreveport to El Paso, down to Houston and this was the absolute worst thing I've ever gotten from any Schlotzkeys. Before this one burned down I had this same pizza a couple of times a month. Idk what changed but they need to go back to the old way of doing things. Been loving the Original since 1982. Courteous staff. What's not to like? So this review is too short? The bathroom was clean but only an air blower and no paper towels. The rest of the place was clean as well. Nice big picture of the original joint down on S. Congress in Austin. Remember it vaguely but that was 30+ years ago. :D read more
