This resulted in us, with the help of Mr. Copoulos, filing a counterclaim. Throughout the entire filing-continuance-time consuming performance that reporting to court ultimately becomes Mr. Copoulos was easy to communicate with and constantly kept us abreast of any and all changes. Come time for court, which actually ended up going to trial, Mr. Copoulos genuinely exceeded my expectations with his line of questioning and cross-examination of both myself and my landlord. It was a tough case and I actually thought my landlord's lawyer bested me a few times but Mr. Copoulos was able to call bullsh&t and we came out on top. We were awarded our counterclaim and my landlord had to walk away with an extremely salty, yet magnificently sour face. Needless to say I was very pleased. Context: I have a giant property management company trying to avoid taking the necessary steps to re-lease my apartment in a timely manner after I had to relocate, and got some great advice for how to proceed. I've gathered a folder of evidence (videos of the unit, saved conversations, and screenshots) showing that I've acted in good faith while the management company hasn't, left the unit in move-in-ready condition, and followed the steps recommended by this firm in the interim -- so I don't expect them to waste their time trying to escalate, but if they do, then I'll certainly give Michael a call as he appears to be someone who cares.
