    Veal schnitzel

This is such a great little neighborhood spot. Let's face it, when you're in Germany there is a good chance you're going to have schnitzel. This place is one of the best I've had in Berlin. The service is top notch, including the welcome beer! The food comes out hot and fresh. The flavors are well balanced and not nearly as heavy as some other schnitzel places I've eaten at. The portions are also ample. The best part... for the wine lovers, they stock wine from their very own winery. I would highly recommend making a reservation, but walks ups are possible if you're willing to wait. I can't wait to eat here again.

Wow!! Wow! Wow!! I read the reviews and booked reservation on Open Table and am so pleased to have come for our first night in Berlin after practice sessions @ Laver Cup! Sat out in the beautifully lit courtyard and complimentary beer appeared before us! Knew I was going to like it here! But, more than that, loved it! The awesome vibe and excellent and friendly service. We each ordered different schnitzel. And they were all amazing. My schnitzel was thin, light breading and nearly melt in your mouth! I had traditional with the creamiest potato salad! My friend had JÄGERSCHNITZel Made from organic beef, roasted pink, served unbreaded with creamy mushroom sauce, spaetzle and string beans and we split small sausages and sauerkraut! We loved it all and recommend it highly! It's a hidden gem tucked back in an estate alley - but it's well regarded and popular we saw as it was near capacity on a Friday ! I wished we had time to come back again for the food and the experience. Definitely recommended to friends and family who are traveling soon.

Wow, this place was amazing. Sat us with a welcome beer before we ordered and it was a welcome start. My son went with the schnitzel and I went with the Cordon Bleu. Both were exceptional, delicious and well prepared! Potatoes and side salads were equally as delicious and spot on! Fast service, excellent food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Would love to have something similar in the U.S.

While in Berlin for one night with my spouse, we had a craving for schnitzel. Turning to Yelp as usual, we discovered this restaurant, and it did not disappoint! Upon sitting down, we were greeted with a complimentary beer, a fantastic start to our evening. Our waitress was excellent, and we noticed many other diners speaking English, likely due to the restaurant's proximity to nearby businesses. We ordered the VOM LANDSCHWEIN and the JÄGERSCHNITZEL. The portions were generous and very filling. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and left feeling completely satisfied. The mushroom sauce on the JÄGERSCHNITZEL was delightful, and the spaetzle was a perfect accompaniment. Coming from Chicago, we have a high appreciation for delicious German food, and this place met our expectations. The ambiance was relaxed, and the restaurant also featured a lovely outdoor patio, adding to the pleasant experience.

Great place to get delicious schnitzel. The restaurant is busy and packed because they offer good food, and excellentbeer selection plus friendly service and situated in a nice area! Would go back again!

Berlin doesn't make it that easy to find gluten-free options, which is how I came to discover Schnitzelei Mitte. I made reservations online for an early Saturday dinner and I was able to enjoy outdoor seating. My SO and I received complimentary beer, which was a nice welcome. Our server was fantastic and really attentive, helping us figure out the best things to order. The menu has numerous vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options so you can join the meat and wheat eaters you may be dining with. I ordered Roulade Reloaded, a vegan twist on a classic dish, which was awesome. I didn't feel left out because of limited food choices, so I really appreciated the versatile menu. We also ordered German "tapas," which you can select different quantities of small dishes to try, I highly recommend doing so. Everything we had was delicious, fresh, and flavorful. Hats off to Schnitzelei Mitte!

Didn't have a reservation, luckily they were able to seat us quickly! Service was quick and courteous. I ordered the veal schnitzel and my friend ordered pork that came with an amazing horseradish type sauce. The place was really busy and cozy. Highly recommend!

This place is fantastic! One of the best meals in Berlin. They bring you small welcome beers after you are seated. I ordered the jagerschnitzel and my colleague ordered the cordon bleu. Both were delicious. The apricot dumpling dessert is out of this world. So glad I found this via Google. Be aware it's not a street facing restaurant and you have to walk down an alley to get to the entrance. If I ever find myself back in Berlin I will make it a point to come back here.

A selection of tapas, only half of them good.
    Veronique C.

This place was a disappointment, and I am aware I am in the minority, considering the reviews and how popular it is. We went for tapas, about half of them were good (meatballs, trout mousse, beet spread), the others boring (potatoes, bread and tomatoes salad). The beer selection if fairly limited and prices for the wines are ridiculous by Berlin standards. The place was busy and service not so good, pressure for tips (annoying since we always tip anyway and we know 20% is not expected unlike in the States) which is unusual for this city, something they would only do for tourists.

This is a popular spot for locals with indoor and outdoor seating. We did not have reservations but they found a picnic style table outside that we could share with another couple. It was a beautiful evening but the temperature dropped pretty quickly. Luckily they have blankets that many of the outside guests were using to stay warm. We enjoyed a 3 appetizer starter of sausage with sauerkraut, fish dip and blood sausage with apples. Yummy! We then ordered pork schnitzel and chicken cordon blue. As our main dishes. Both were crispy and tasted good on this cool evening. They offer an appetizer sampler with up to 11 offerings. I think next time we would order a larger sampler as our main course.

(4.5 stars) Had a really lovely dinner here the other night. Loved the welcome beer and the great service, especially relative to what I've experienced at other restaurants so far. Would high they recommend the oyster mushroom schnitzel, the breading itself is so flavorful, and then the squeeze of lemon gives it some acid and vibrancy. The cucumbers are a refreshing palate cleanser between the potatoes and schnitzel. Would definitely being friends if they were interested in grabbing some German food while in Berlin.

Fantastic service with great food! A perfect combination. Greeted with a beer on a beautiful moon filled night. Sat outside with perfect weather. Ended the meal with Schnapps and our waiter bidding us a fond farewell. Love white asparagus season. Waiter split our food in the kitchen. Note: May be hard to locate as there are 2 ways in and one is through a courtyard.

So, our group of 10 booked a private guide and drivers and set out. After the initial drive and some touring, we needed lunch and our guide took us to Gendarmerie. First off, it is one of the coolest restaurants inside that I have ever seen. The large piece of art that stretches the width of the restaurant is outstanding and eye catching. There are also replica pieces of the Berlin wall used as art and a series of giant portraits of famous German actors and actresses along with John F. Kennedy. Strange combination. We were seated at a long table. Our server was excellent and very entertaining for this table full of Americans. I can only speak of the two dishes that my wife and I ordered. I had the fried pike-perch fillet, but it was served on fresh local white asparagus which was in season and highly recommended. I can say without question that it was the largest asparagus I have ever seen in my life. Full of flavor with a sauce on the side. Trouble with it was that there was too much and much of it was quite tough. I prefer my asparagus thin not tree trunks. The fish was good but a bit dry so the sauce was welcome. My wife had Konigsberger meatballs with red beetroot and mashed potatoes all in a cream sauce. They are not shy about their sauces here as the photos indicate. But, the meal was very good. At the end, knowing we wanted to divide the check, the server merely had us come to the counter a couple at a time and simply tell him what we had to eat. It all added up so we were good. End review is that it was a great location, but the food was not outstanding at all. If given a greater scale, the review would be a solid 3.5.

My plate arrived with three pieces of heavily breaded crispy chicken strips, a lemon wedge and a small bowl with butter lettuce coated with tasty dressing. The chicken, however, was dry and required a knife to cut through it. In the U.S., such chicken strips one might find at a fast-food restaurant like KFC and would come with a dipping sauce to heighten the taste.
