Schnucks in Savoy used to be the best grocery store... 20 years ago. Yesterday I got the driest most stale piece of cake I have ever had. This store actually cut up a brick hard cake and sold it as individual slices. How desperate you must be for a buck if this is happening. It was even marked for expiration next week. Putting fresher dates on already old expired food is greedy petty and unacceptable. This isn't the first time I've bought stale, spoiled, or expired food from this store (meat, bakery and even random items on the shelves) and NOBODY cares whenever it's called to their attention. How the manager of this place is even allowed to cash a paycheck is crazy. Why would anyone pay to have a store run into the ground? Good luck shoppers you're going to need it read more

Very nice clean place deli with boars head meats. The people are nice they have been weeding out the aholes.

Rejected our ID's because they were vertical. When we (3 friends and I) got to the checkout line, we were all asked to pull out our IDs. After pulling all of ours out, we were immediately declined because some of ours were vertical. The man at the line didn't even care to look at them, even though none of our ID's were close to being expired. This was just an entirely inconvenient situation and I am hugely disappointed. read more

I wish to share how pleased I and my sis were with Jeff's assistance in the floral department. We were on a very tight timeline to select flowers for our mother's funeral... occurring just 2 days after our store visit on November 18. We live out of state and our other siblings are not local to the Champaign-Urbana-Savoy area. Jeff was a godsend as he knew the funeral home used for our mother's service very well. He suggested floral arrangements to coordinate with the casket and decor at the funeral home, so our florals would look tasteful. We wanted some specific flowers to be included and he made sure those flowers were used. We chose three different arrangements for the service and each were beautifully done. My entire family was very happy with our selections. All flowers were fresh and in perfect condition. Jeff coordinated delivery to the funeral home so everything was set for us. Like this store, going for several years. However, today at 4pm the Bakery, rang bell numerous times, when someone came, communication was difficult, did not know what a round 10" choc chip cookie, I wanted to order 1, she said no, after a few minutes it was obvious that I had to go else where. Just wanted to order cookie, decorate with name for next week. I asked for supervisor or manager was told not there. I have never given a poor review, especially of people....if people can't speak or understand English place them in a no contact with customers. read more

I absolutely love this place!! Staff is always friendly here. They have a pretty good selection and quite honestly they are the best place to pick up middle aged women looking for something on the side. My one downside is that they stopped carrying Portwine cheese spread. However, the rotisserie chickens and the potato salad are amazingly delicious ! The bakery is a little lacking because it doesn't offer things that it should. However, they have fresh flowers if you have to make it up to a one night stand. Wonderful place. I used to like this Schnucks. Had the opportunity to deal with Doug and Sam the manager and asst manager. They are rude and treated me horribly when I was trying to get good customer service with a issue I was having with my shopping expierence. I would not recommend anyone shop here. Great store loved it clean and well lit. Found everything we needed at great prices. Just in town for quick visit with relatives and wanted to surprise them with nice bottle of wine. Amazing selection of wines and very easy to find what we liked. read more

I was having a good day until I was ready to check out. One register open with a long line. Two empoyees were working the self check out. Within this past month my husband and I have hosted three anniversary parties in three states. I created a relatively simple design for a half-sheet cake and submitted it to the bakeries in those three cities, with excellent results twice, the best of which was from Gail in the Savoy Schnucks bakery. She created my design perfectly, the cake was very good, and the cream cheese frosting was the best we have ever had. Not everyone allows you to bring in your own candies for their use, but she did. This grocery store makes me smile every time I come in! I love the friendly staff. I really like being treated with respect. If you shop the sales its not even very expensive. The positive environment is a refreshing experience! I honestly don't use the crazy things they offer like an olive bar. But I do like to treat myself to a fancy dessert or high end cheese. I'm glad to have a classy and friendly place to buy groceries. In the book Ms. Manners it says that the rudest thing you can do is to point out a flaw in one of you guests' manners. I appreciate how classy this store is. I say they are classy because I have never felt uncomfortable shopping here no matter what I looked like or have acted like. Based on customer service at the "so called" customer service counter I would give Savoy Schnuck's 1 star. However, the beautiful well maintained fresh flower department just as you enter the store gets 5 stars, hence the extra star. I have had more than one very poor customer service experience at this store. The recent one was a question about something that they were out of and when it would be back in stock and the answer from the male employee was "I have no idea", made no effort to find an answer. Another male employee several weeks ago was just plain rude. When I was in the vicinity of the Champaign Schnuck's I looked for the missing item that was also out of stock and the young woman at the customer service counter was very helpful, called a staff member of the dept. to get me an answer. I wish I lived closer to the Champaign store. read more

This Schnucks is my go-to grocery store. The staff is always friendly and I can get in and out with what I need in minutes. They have a great selection and are working to lower their prices on more common items. I wish more grocery stores took their cues from this location. read more

Not my family's main grocery store, but my mom shops here pretty often. She checks the sales ads across stores to find the best deals available. Luckily, Champaign is a small town and driving to this store is not a big inconvenience. I was with her on a recent run. The store was clean and organized. The employees were nice. Don't use Customer Service counter for said name. I just tried to place a doughnut order for pick-up Friday morning and it was too much for them. They called a supervisor who couldn't help, one girl offered to simply write the order down and give it to the bakery, however the other employee said it would get lost or misplaced, so i should call or come back when the bakery is open. These people will wonder why the store closes at some point--YOU NEED CUSTOMERS who are HAPPY! read more

Schnucks is a midwest grocery chain. Superficially, this is the nicest of the three or four C-U locations, as it caters to the city's wealthier suburbanites. While this location does have a wide selection, is clean and brightly lit, and is rarely crowded it has one problem. Moving required me to find a closer grocery store, so I've visited this Schnucks between 5-7 times now. Every trip I have unwittingly picked up an expired or almost expired food item. Their mushrooms were slimy. There celery was brown and spotted. I bought a cheese spread that was nearly a month expired (!). What gives? The store looks so nice from the outside. I'm sure there are people who swear by Schnucks and love their products but it wasn't my experience. At this rate, Walmart would be a better choice than Schnucks. read more
