Their prices aren't as cheap as books when you thrift, but the effort that goes into curating and organizing a collection this big - almost makes it worth the retail prices on some of these books. I also noticed they had some Disney tsum tsum? Figurines that must be slight after and collectible because the retail was 5.95 and the written price for the store was $10.

We found some beautiful old Bibles, some classic literature, some really cool folklore books, great books on Florida, and my personal favorite, music books. Today I picked out two piano books filled with Christmas songs. Pricing here for these old books are a bit high in my opinion. The one book, 23 pages was priced at $7 and the other, 32 pages was priced at $10. I can usually find these for about $4-$5 each at thrift stores because they are not in high demand. I can't complain too much because when I asked the owner, Doug, for a discount he did give me $4 off, which was wonderful. There were a lot of other music books mostly for guitar that I could see spending a little more money on because they're original prices around $20 to $25. I also found a J.S. Bach Bible of music which intrigued me; however, there was no fingerings and it was missing indications of expression present in several of the books In my library, so I decided to hold off on purchasing that one. What's unique about this store when comparing to other book stores in the area is at this store makes binding repairs and performs leather work, which is a plus. I'm sad to say that this was my first time here today. I had no idea that Doug has been running the store for 14 years now. Regardless, I will definitely return next time I'm shopping in the area.

There is a little bit of everything, and the 10-20 books available of a type/topic are going to be special. No filler here. There is also an awesome collection of non-book items - art, prints, collectibles, etc. and you're sure to find something cool. It is, however, unfortunate that it's near a play area of a shopping mall. Depending on the day and time, the screams can get a bit over-the-top. The owner is great guy - knowledgeable, friendly, and pleasant - and he rightfully has pride about his stuff. He will leave you alone until you pay probably, or initiate conversation. The place is very organized - lots of common sense labelling. If you're terrified of those messy book stores with stacks on the floor that requires rummaging, this place is the opposite of that. Wide variety of topics for such a small spot. I only wish it was bigger! Very well-done though.

I was able to find street parking, which was shocking to me for a Saturday! This store is very open and full of light. The decor is adorable. They had quite the extensive inventory of books. I bought a staff recommended summer read and it was great! I work for Scholastic Book Fairs. This is our local warehouse location, which is not open to the…read morepublic usually. But a few times a year, we have Customer Appreciation Warehouse Sale Events, which we shorten to CAWSE - these are open to educators like principals, librarians, and teachers, or anyone who works at or volunteers at schools. Home schoolers are welcome too. Don't be expecting your Saks Fifth shopping experience, folks - this is a warehouse after all. It could be hot in the summer, cold in the winter. Shopping carts, if you're lucky enough to snatch one, are liable to be rickety and a little rusted. The merchandise is not for the most part attractively displayed, nor is there a rhyme or reason as to how they are arranged - at least not one that the uninitiated will understand. But the selection and PRICE are tremendous. Most items are 50% off during CAWSE, with only a few select new and prized merchandise being 'only' 20% off. We take credit cards, cash, and purchase orders, and the staff are helpful and friendly if you can track one down. Check it out if you're qualified to shop here!

I've been coming to Maya Books and Music for years and always find something good when I stop in…read more The store is clean, orderly, and the book sections are clearly displayed; however, it doesn't hurt to ask for help from the owner, she knows where everything is. On my most previous visit I was looking specifically for piano sheet music, and the owner informed me they were upstairs in a basket under the W-X & Y-Z section of Rock CD's, and sure enough, they were exactly where she said they were. Luckily for me I found two books in great condition - Bach Short Preludes and Fugues for the Piano for $3.95 and Bella Bartok Mikrokosmos Piano Solo Vol III for $3.50, great deal! There is also a variety of other instrument sheet music for clarinet, trumpet, guitar, mandolin, and more in this section. They have a great variety of used music CD's and Vinyl's upstairs for sale at a reasonable price. I've purchased CD's from here for $4 and less, but some could be higher if they are rare or brand new in the cellophane wrap. I haven't purchased any Vinyl's but they do have a decent selection. There are also a variety of posters and old collectable magazines here for sale, which is cool. I actually have some of the Guitar Magazine ones they are selling for $25 and more. The owner informed me that she acquired a much larger store in another state and will have a lot more books and other items coming after the New Year, so be sure to stop in and see what they have to offer. Something to note is the owner is not flexible with pricing so I don't recommend trying to get a better price by buying multiple items and talking her down, it just wont work. Another thing is there is really nowhere to sit down to read for a few minutes to see if you want to buy a book your interested in, even if you try, you quickly become crowded in by other shoppers trying to get around you. All-in-all, Maya Books and Music provide a fun shopping experience if you're a book lover and just happen to be in Downtown Sanford Shopping. I highly recommend stopping in to check them out.

I have found some wonderful books here and if you go upstairs you'll find all sorts of records. To me the books are well priced, and the owner is always so so welcoming! Before writing my review I did read some other reviews about people trying to ask for price matching, which honestly I find weird to do with a small book shop (do it to the corporate businesses, not the small shops - but that's just my opinion). I also don't think the owner does price matching or accept any haggling as I did overhear her telling a couple she did not. Anyways a great book shop to visit and if you love to support local shops, this is one to visit and support!

A very large selection of bibles and also a very large selection of Christian adult books and children books! Love, love, love! When you walk into the main entrance make a right and just next to the Cafe is this amazing book store! I can spend hours in one, especially when there's the presence of love there! This is my new go to spot when in search of devotionals. I love atmosphere, the people who helped me with my purchase and the easy accessibility of coffee. I didn't get a chance to partake in the coffee, but next time, I will stop by for a treat! By the way, this is currently, the ONLY Christian bookstore in this county! When I arrived I asked the guy behind the counter about them and he basically said, "good luck, we don't have many because guys come in here weekly with their Key Collector apps out hoping to make a flip." The comics are well organized so I looked and I did find one....$3 for a Warlock Infinty Watch #7. I brought some comics in to trade since another store I've frequented (that's North an hour drive away) does trades. Absolutely not here and the guy told me, "we're like Walmart, we don't do trades." I paid the $3 and left. If you're in there for Funko or new age comics it's probably a great store. If you're going for TCG be prepared to pay high dollar for scalped products and "minty" raw cards.

Great deals can be found and fair pricing for those hard to find items. We were approached by multiple employees and asked if we needed help. We were on a mission to find Inside Out characters for my 8 year old son and they not only found the spot they were in but also hunted around to find the items he asked for. They gave us tips to find things in other areas of the store as people tend to hide things they want and they let us know where to look for those gems! This is the first and usually last place I have to go to find what I am looking for as they have what I need. There are so many props and fun things to look at as you wander the huge selection. My son was enthralled!
