We felt compelled to write about our experience with puppies purchased from Schomberg Rottweilers. We bought a female puppy from Nancy in 2011; she turned out to be a very beautiful and loving companion for our family. She had some minor behavioral issues that we recognized such as rushing toward people while barking at them. She never hurt anyone but scared the heck out of people many times. We ended up getting an invisible fence due to our unsuccessful attempts to end the behavior over the years. We lost our girl at age7 1/2 due to bone cancer. Very devastating, but we understood that these breeds are prone to that. Last year, we bought another female pup from Nancy, she is a little over a year old now and the real reason we are writing. This one is unlike any of the previous 5 Rottweiler's (none from Nancy) that we have had the pleasure of sharing our lives with. She has some major behavioral issues. We were recently kicked out of the dog obedience class that we've been taking her to which was very disheartening. She has extreme anxiety issues, lunging at the other dogs, barking ferociously. I could tell that the other people and their dogs were actually scared. We've given this dog nothing but loving care since we got her at 10 weeks old. She loves people and is not a threat to them, but she seems to feel the need to dominate other dogs at all cost. When she knows she has done something bad and we try to correct her she will taunt us and growl, and even snap at us.
We will try one-on-one obedience training now to see if that works. We don't know what else to do. This dog seems flat out insane. We also had to have her tail re-cropped about a month after we got her; the bone was sticking through the skin and became infected. Our vet said it was not cropped correctly. We do not recommend this breeder to anyone after what we've been through so far with our new girl. After recalling the "fleet" of dogs on the premises on "stand by" for breeding more behavioral problems into more dogs we thought we should share our experience with the public. In our opinion, quality dogs are not the priority of this breeder, only quantity. This breeder should be reported to the AKC. read more
