I am adding one star for the beautiful venue -- we sat in a little parlor, one big table, just for our group. Absolutely lovely setting, and the private setting allowed for comfortable conversation. Unfortunately they did keep us waiting too long in the lounge/common area -- at least 45 minutes after the time we'd booked. Then the way they took orders and served the dishes was odd. We had a limited menu (no problem!), 3 choices each for starter, main, and dessert. They asked each person for his or her choices. But they took our orders while we were still in the common area. So basically they just had a count, how many of each dish. When we finally went in and sat down at our table -- they started coming out with the dishes as they were prepared, asking: 'Duck liver?' and passing out the dishes to people who claimed them. Seemed a bit ... i don't know, amateurish? These are relatively minor issues, and good food in a beautiful room were more important. all in all, especially considering the rather limited selection of places around here, it's a solid choice.

The website description starts with the excitement inducing sentence: 'This welcoming hotel is less than 5-minutes drive from junction 15 of the M4 and 2 miles from central Swindon.' QED. Incidentally, waiting 90 minutes for room service is not pleasant. I actually gnawed part of my arm off due to the hunger. No doubt the restaurant was busy and it's near Christmas and blah blah blah. On the plus side the staff are nice enough and very helpful. In addition, there is a swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and gym for all your fitness needs. Oh, it's also close to a steam museum... So, if you're the sort of person who likes to stay in cheap, clean and vapid environments for a night, don your M&S khaki trousers and drive your Toyota Corolla down the M4 for a fun-filled yawn-fest. I've never had a few large battered prawns nestling on top of a standard prawn cocktail but it works! The main course was an 8oz rib steak (plenty big enough; I tried the 10oz sirloin but it's too lean) with chunky chips and a fiery pepper sauce. Mushrooms and tomatoes are also there. I'm going to give this 5 stars for being a great Premier Inn, not for the grade of hotel…read more It's brand new, built by the river next to the Worcester County Cricket ground, which on my visit was completely underwater, as you can see in the picture! Rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable with all the usual facilities that you would expect from a Premier Inn - en suite bathroom, large TV, hairdryer, tea & coffee facilities (no biscuits though), choice of pillows for the bed, and 30 minutes free Wi-Fi. Minimal, but all you need for a good night's sleep - in fact, they do say that they will refund your money if you don't sleep properly. I was tempted to put this to the test as I didn't really get back to sleep after being woken up by the room upstairs returning at 1.30am, but that's not the fault of the hotel so it would have been churlish of me to complain. The check-in has two automated desks similar to ATMs or airline check-ins that are very easy to use, although there was a very helpful and friendly staff member on duty as well to help guide you through the process if needed. They also reassured me that the night watchman would keep an eye on the car in the car park and wake me up if the rising flood waters, which were already covering a third of the car park, threatened to engulf it. The bar and restaurant is in the building, and the staff both at the bar and at breakfast could not have been more helpful and friendly. I didn't eat the evening meal in the bar, but the menu looked OK and reasonably priced. Had I not had a prior engagement I would have eaten here quite happily. As usual at Premier, breakfast is extra but it's worth buying one as you can eat all you want from the buffet. There was a good choice of hot food to order, including vegetarian sausages (yay!). This might be because the place is new and they're trying to make a good impression (it worked!), but I hope it lasts, as this is a very convenient location close to the city centre when visiting Worcester.

I asked receptionist if they had a microwave and they sent me to the restaurant and I asked the server and he said yes they can warm up my food then the manager came yelling saying no no our food and I said okay that's fine no big deal. Proceeded to follow me to the lobby to talk to the receptionist about me. I will never stay here again or recommend anyone to stay here. Do better Marriott.

Food in the restaurant in the evening was of a reasonable standard, priced a little over average for the area, although the breakfast was poor. The "English Breakfast" was sausage, one egg, bacon, beans, mushrooms and hash browns, with toast and coffee. The mushrooms were cold, and the egg was, well, odd. The main lounge is popular for tea and coffee, with various locals as well as guests visiting while we were there.
