This school is amazing. My kids and other relatives have attended and we love this school and their staff. Don't let the name fool you they offer more than science and engineering! Gardening club, fishing club, yearbook, student government, etc. Those are just a few of the many clubs this 'small' school. The teachers and administrators are all amazing and truly care about the students. Another plus is that this is a 7-12 school so kids don't have to make the transition to another school after junior high. There is also free after school care and a public library on site. This school is absolutely horrible. Barely any of the staff members are willing to help students out and treat us awful (especially the top staff). The incident reports don't solve anything and they only pay attention to them if it's involving a teacher or fight. Definitely some fishy activity goes on with teachers as one faces many pedo allegations that the school is fully aware about but just ignores it. Majority of the teachers don't like the middle schoolers and we just have to watch other grades do fun activities while we don't ever get a break. We haven't went on a single field trip because "behavior issues" when it's obvious the staffs problem they can't keep students under control. Principals are very disrespectful and two faced. as a student of SES it really sucks. not only because of my peers (out of the control of the school but still not good) but how they censor profanity. "We tolerate no profanity at SES", let me say "f/ck" when I'm frustrated. Best engineering school ever. But the reason for not a five star is some of the teachers here dont take students into consideration. I'm a Sophomore and I am loving this school. I get to 3-D print stuff and design stuff that will actually get recognized. If your look for a school just to get your diploma this is not that kind of school. read more

My son is a current Sophomore at School of Engineering and Science. It is small but an amazing school. From the office staff to the teachers everyone is very dedicated to the students. The school recently received the Distinguished California School award and had two of its teachers selected for Teacher of the Month on a local news station. The teachers are always willing to help with tutoring either at lunch or after school. Their Robotics team has competed nationwide. We are very fortunate to have the ability to attend this great school! read more

School is making money on our children and spending it on over paid personal. The top personal have laptops of the date that should be used for the students. The teachers are cry babies and THEY are the biggest bullies along with other top staff. Only those in charge can let this go on and it has been going on for years now. read more

This is a great school, my son has been attending here since 7th grade he's now in 10th grade. One great thing is that it's 7th grade through 12th grade i love that. It's a small school which is great too. There's alot of focus on engineering and science. The office staff are always helpful and friendly. The principle is good but one thing that really bothers me is the after school parking and picking up of kids. People are always parking in the red zone (fire lane) it never changes the principle said he was going to fix it but nothing ever came of that. We are all in a hurry to get our kids and get home but respect the fire zone people! read more

I sent my girls there thinking I was doing the right thing since their home school was Burbank. It didn't take long to know that I made the WRONG decision. This school is horrible! My tenth grader had 17 different teachers in the period of two and a half months. There were things my kids came home and told me that I could not believe. Upon contacting the school I discovered it was all true. Kids do things... I know, but, a school with less than four hundred kids should have way better control of their pupils. this is a horrible school. i came in 7th grade and i hated it. back then it was at an old elementary school. i really can't explain how bad the school was. when i was there, there were only 7th and 9th graders. we didn't learn anything about engineering or science. we didn't even have an engineering class. our science teacher was not that great, and the other subject teachers were all substitutes or they came for about a month and left. they didn't offer an AP or Honors classes either, and I'm sure the AP classes currently are limited too, at least compared to the other sacramento area schools. and yeah, they have a small amount of people, which means a better student/teacher ratio, but you can't learn much if the teachers aren't qualified and they don't offer enough advanced classes. it is definitely not a good environment for learning. i actually just went on the website today to see how SES was doing and it reminded me why i left. i am so thankful that i went to a different school with better teachers, more determined and ambitious students, and more opportunities for challenges and academic experiences. read more
