This place ROCKS (pun intended). My son came here for summer camp from August 18 - 22 for the Classic Rock Rewind. He had an extra week before he started school, and I was looking for a camp to keep him busy while I worked. Honestly, I had heard about the movie starring Jack Black, but had never seriously looked into enrolling my son at the school. I'm so glad they have a location in Burbank. Not only was everyone there professional musicians who also know how to teach, but the hours were great, and my son said the instruction was second to none. You get to choose your instrument (which they supply and have on site), they "rock" between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and end the week with a performance of two classic rock songs. My son was on drums, and relished being able to tap his sticks over his head while shouting, "One, Two, Three, let's rock!" before jamming out on percussion. The kids did an amazing job on both songs, and the parents got to see what they had been learning all week. Bonus: after they complete the summer camp, they're eligible to enroll in Rock 101 to deepen their knowledge of their chosen instrument or learn another. I cannot say enough good about this place. I heard great things about School of Rock Burbank's Little Wings class from a friend so I decided to take my three year old. He had other plans, but luckily Beth was working behind the counter and has the patience of an angel. Wow! My daughter has been a student of Hollywood School of Rock for 3 yrs. She loves being apart of a group where kids share the same interest. I'm so glad I signed her up. She has been playing the guitar since she was 6 years old but this was th only establishment where she gets the opportunity to perform at real LA venues and in front of a real crowd. Very cool music school, great teachers! The kids love it!!

I have two boys ages 7 and 5 who have been going here for a few years now. We signed up our younger one to Little Wings and it's been great watching him develop his musical skills - learning the fundamentals in music and following along to beats with Nate. The class is great and the kids interact so well with one another. While we lost hands on instrument use during this virtual period, the class has certainly made up for it by focusing on beats, pitch, tone, etc. My older son originally started in Little Rookies but quickly gained interest in drumming so we scheduled him for lessons with Nick. Nick is awesome - friendly but also knows how to teach the lesson well. I was worried that the virtual classes wouldn't go as well, but it has been great. My son practices several times during the week and looks forward to submitting his assignments using the app! I don't have a background in music, but when my kids play in front of family and friends who do they are super impressed with their skills! My review wouldn't be complete without mentioning Selena, who would always greet us with a smile when we would go in and now continues to be super diligent with getting us information during this virtual period. What a special place this is. My 9 year old son does drums and Rock 101 here and he has learned so much and, above all, is enthusiastic and supported. He has found a place where he fits in and can shine. The teachers are gifted and passionate and the kids are challenged and happy. Whenever I'm in the waiting room, I have a chance to eavesdrop on the teens who are chatting and taking breaks and I'm always so impressed by how polite and sweet they are. This is a true community. We love S.O.R.! We first became aware of them after seeing some teen rockers at Burbank's monthly Ladies Night Out food truck fest (side-note: come back to LNO, School of Rock, we miss seeing you!). We got a coupon for a free trial lesson and my 4-year-old son is now enrolled in the Little Wings class. He always FLIES out the door to go to music class and smiles ear-to-ear on the way back out. We mistakenly showed up on a day when there was no class (totally our fault) and my son's level of grief over the lack of music class was ... fairly epic. It was like seeing an Italian widow keening at a funeral and trying to throw herself into the gravesite. I mean, it was heartbreaking but also kinda heartwarming because it showed me just how much he L.O.V.E.S. class. I like that the class is exposing him to older, more grown-up tunes and the email summaries we get after class are great and make me feel like the instructors are laying a solid foundation for any and all future musical education we decide to do. read more

Our daughters attended a week of camp this summer when the focus was on the Beatles. I popped in to check on them at lunch the first day and they were already so into it! They were talking a mile-a-minute about all the instruments they were going to play and how they also get to sing on a few songs. The teachers are so skilled, not only at music and teaching but also at creating a sense of community where a group of kids who've never met can bond and support each other in learning and performing an entire set in just 5 days. It's obvious the new owners are committed to making sure the rock-and-rollers in your family have access to awesome teachers, performance experience and professional exposure. I have a son and daughter enrolled at this branch for over 4 years. The impact on them as musicians is immeasurable. Their attendance here has completely changed their lives. Neither one of my children had never even handled an instrument before attending this place. Now at 14 and 17 they are professionally playing in bands that they formed in clubs in the city. My daughter and I both LOVE School of Rock!!! I am so glad she started taking classes here. School of Rock Burbank is AMAZING, it has literally changed the way our son views and understands ROCK music!!!! Our son attended their one week summer program and the wealth of knowledge, techniques, and skills he acquired in just one week was truly unbelievable. What would you say if I told you your kid could play the Beatles White Album in its' entirety onstage at the Whisky a Go Go? How about the entire Dark Side of the Moon at the Mint? Or, share the stage with Robby Krieger? Perform with Dave Stewart? Not possible? Oh, yes it is. At the School of Rock shows, you always see something amazing. But, this school is about so much more. Students take a lesson and a rehearsal once a week, and put on a show every 3 months. My sons have the utmost respect for their teachers, who are all working professionals and wonderful role models. My boys are inspired by the more experienced and older students, they in turn inspire and look after the younger ones-they all work together as a team towards a common goal- putting on the best kick ass show they can. They never stop practicing, learning, striving. It is our team sport. It's such a great way for them to navigate through puberty, social stigmas, self-consciousness, girls, etc. Because it is all about the music. Period. If you are looking for a way to keep music alive for your kids, look no further. I cannot imagine our lives without the School of Rock. It has given our family such a shared common language, an activity we all really enjoy, and my kids excellent taste in music! read more

We have been with this school almost since it started in Hollywood. My son started there as a singer and was able to sing in amazing venues. He also had opportunities that he would have not gotten from a regular music school. He had the was able to sing with Robbie Krieger of the Doors and Jon Anderson of Yes. The our daughter joined as a drummer and now plays guitar, drums and bass. She was chosen to be in a music video with Andy Ross from OK Go, she was invited to go to a concert for Tom Morello. She recently played at NAMM and played for Twiggy Ramirez of Marilyn Manson. Today because of her hard work and the teachers at School of Rock Hollywood she was chosen to go to Daisy Rock Guitars by the owner and choose any guitar she wanted. I can not say enough about the staff and the teachers at this school. They have taken an eager 10 year old girl and turned her into a future rock star! My 9 year old son has been coming to SOR Burbank for 8 months now and absolutely LOVES it! He had an interest in guitar, so I figured I would sign him up for a few months and "see how it goes"... well here we are 8 months later and this is something he genuinely wants to do. There's no moaning or complaining about going to his weekly SOR sessions; quite different from how he reacts when he has to go to Karate or any other Sport he may be participating in! His guitar skills have improved tremendously in such a short time, it's truly remarkable. this place used to be amazing when it was under a different director and manager. It has recently gone downhill. you can not get in touch with anyone there when you have questions. the building should be condemned. its dirty, they have rats and roaches, holes in all of the walls, uncovered electrical outlets, leaky windows...the list goes on. very unsafe for kids. read more
