And I thought maybe it would get better if I leveled up and went to open gyms and camps to be better to impress my couch but nothing was enough. Refusing to try. Petrified, really. It was frustrating and embarrassing enough to be "that family" but to make things worse, both teachers completely ignored us rather than coming up and talking to us, taking her hand, trying to engage her (even briefly), or just saying to me like, "It's OK. This has happened before." SOMETHING. We were the elephants in the room. Sad, sad elephants. My daughter and I talked about it the entire week following and I thought she was ready to give it another try the next Tuesday but just before class she had another tearful meltdown saying that she didn't want to go. I didn't have it in me that particular day to put either one of us through what we'd experienced week one, so we went home. I emailed the studio (twice) and sent a facebook message to see if we could get a refund or credit since she's clearly not ready and they weren't doing anything to make her feel any more at ease. I have gotten zero replies. I would expect at least an "I'm sorry it was difficult, here are some things we can try next week..." type of response if they have a strict no refund policy but we didn't get even that. So, we're out well over $100 (with the class, clothes, and shoes) and we won't go back there in 6 months when she is maybe ready because it's quite frankly, really bad business to not help a child/parent get through this if you won't do a refund, and really bad customer service to not even reply to emails/facebook messages. Three of them now. I'm in the business of customer service. This is not how you make longtime loyal clients. You treat them right and they will come back and they will tell all of their friends. Disheartening. I hope the $60 I lost is used to do a customer service training session/best business practice webinar. It's needed... :(

Some instructors are definitely better than others. They over book kids into lessons at some ages IMO, which means less overall time in the water practicing and time with the instructor. When I was a kid, we did things as a group, rather than focusing on one kid at a time. My son has a hard time just sitting and waiting for his turn. The locker rooms are very much in need of an update. Rusty doors and just a feeling of things being dirty and musty. In need of better maintenance.

Since switching to Primrose she has had a total change in her attitude- she is much happier during the week, often talks about her activities at daycare, and no longer gets upset when it's time to go to daycare. The teachers all seem kind and well trained, and consistently use age appropriate language and positive reinforcement (that was a major issue at her previous daycare- I often heard raised voices and negative tones when I was coming in for pick up). There's a mixture of guided activities and self directed play, and all the kids seem engaged. They have an on-site kitchen and my daughter, who is normally a picky eater, enjoys all of the food. The hours are great and the prices are very reasonable for the area. We feel good about the care and education our daughter gets here which is such a relief as a parent. This is one of the, if not the, best church I've been to in Omaha. It looks more like a warehouse…read morethan a place of worship, but there's a warmth that the people inside add that overcomes the lack of aesthetics. It's a contemporary church, so the worship music is upbeat and features songs you hear on radio stations like K-Love and 101.1. It's a very welcoming church, and casual attire is absolutely allowed. There are greeters at the doors, and it's common for the pastors to remain in the hallway long after the service just waiting to chat. Most importantly, the church really focuses its messages around having a relationship with Jesus Christ and how much love He has for us. I leave each Sunday feeling inspired and better prepared for the coming week than when I entered. Services are about an hour and 10 minutes long, starting at either 9 AM or 10:45 AM. If you're searching for a friendly, inclusive, Scripture-based church that is centered on Christ, this is a place worth checking out.
