My son began struggling in 10th grade while attending a local public high school. I can't begin to tell you how many meetings we had with teachers, counselors, deans, principals, IEP and district representatives. Since he wasn't a discipline problem they kept passing him on. I soon learned my son was an experiment for a floundering system. Following a terrible semester report card, we decided to search for a private school. I was surprised to find Pensacola had so many choices. After visiting most of them, I concluded these private schools were all a one-size fits all style of student and curriculum all except for SoLA. On our second visit to SOLA, Mrs. Tarver "interviewed" my son to identify what was missing in his quest to become a lifelong learner. Finally a school administrator that was willing to get to the core of why he wasn't learning. The SoLA staff had truly taken an interest in my son reaching his full potential. SoLA taught him first; that he must want to learn. Once he learned this skill others followed, including; independent thinking, creativity, integrity and balance, he became happier and believed for the first time he could do this work. He became independent, self-motivated and the stress level in our home dropped significantly. Final thought: While our local schools are struggling to lift performance across the board, SoLA is doing this one student at a time. Teachers will always be underpaid - and underappreciated but the teachers at SoLA know they didn't choose to teach for these reasons. They chose education to change lives and the Pensacola School of Liberal Arts does this greater than anyone else... One student at a time. The talent development program (presented as special education) is not special education. The instructors don't need to have education degrees and get on-the job training and seminars on specific general education topics. The only difference I saw is smaller class size (yay) and slower speed: they use the same material as other schools but go slower. The students didn't seem to get other resources including no sustained reading specialist intervention (it's only a short term intervention if staff feels it'll help). 2. Responsiveness to concerns: several administrators dismissed our educational concerns, asking us to trust their process. But their process involved much less actual educational teaching than other area schools. 3. Discipline: admissions stressed that their discipline system hasn't changed in 50 years. It showed. The system in elementary school involves a dozen or so red-letter items (in the blood of Jesus) and a similar number of black-letter (sinful) items. The discipline system is absolutely equated with moral/ Christ-like behavior. Children are frequently admonished about their "red" or "black" behavior. Lots of kids show anxiety about this. A lot of parents stated concern. My kid had daily issues over this to the point of needing medical intervention. The problems resolved when we switched schools. This was one experience - it may fit well for others. But I recommend asking lots of very specific questions before choosing RBCS.

Yes, there are some teachers that are not as loving and not as compassionate as others; however, if you find the correct teachers, your college experience is great. Second, the rules are strict. As a Christian myself I find that the rules are a bit strict for my own convictions. I believe tattoos are fine, holding my girlfriends hand, and going off campus with the opposite gender is fine. The problem is the bad students will do what's wrong regardless of the rules. The rules are only prohibiting the students who just want to have a normal life back. Since I've been there, they have allowed coed groups off campus which is awesome! Overall, your gonna have some run-ins with chaperones that just don't like you, like me and my wife had while dating and engaged there. Third, if you pick the right collegian, you will have more fun then you can imagine. Picking the right collegian will help you grow so much as a person as you will meet so many new friends through that Avenue. Lastly, don't listen to some of these reviews saying that they are hateful people. The college does what it believes is right. CHRISTIANITY HAS CHRISTIAN LIBERTY! Some people don't believe tattoos are correct and some do. Are either one wrong? No! Because of Christian liberty, you are basing your life off of your own conviction through Christ. As an environment to grow in through Christ, it was amazing and I have met lifelong friends here. I was then finally admitted the same day class registration opened, while the systems were down. Since then, I have been unable to reach my academic advisor despite emailing and calling for the past two weeks regarding a course transfer issue. A class that should have been transferred from my transcript was not applied, which is now preventing me from registering for my next course due to a 'prerequisite not met' error. Phones and emails are rarely answered, and the lack of communication has made this process extremely frustrating. If I had more time and had not already submitted everything to the VA, I would seriously consider applying to PSC instead. It's crazy because I applied to an administrative position here in the Undergrad department when I first moved to the area and they didn't take me. They clearly need more people or better people for that matter because whoever they chose can't handle the workload.

My paper was proven multiple times to not be AI. My GPA went from a 3.7 to like a 3.0. In one year at this college. It's literally all biased McGrawHill Connect and Smartbooks. Completely inaccurate and biased. When you literally know something, it will prove you wrong with the right regime. This school is not for students with Autism either. They will suggest tutoring for your diagnosed disabilities.
