Never again! I had a CONFIRMED reservation per text. It was denied due to a previous weather-related cancellation. Despite PROVING the re-scheduled date and time, we were denied our trip. It ruined the entire day. These people are amateurs. Everything is done with pencil and paper. There are better options close by! read more

My wife and I had an excellent experience on the Schooner Eleanor in Kennebunkport Maine. We took the 11:00 cruise on a beautiful June morning. Our skipper Rich introduced his young crew Callie and Will before we motored down the Kennebunk River to the Atlantic. Once beyond the jetties, our crew hoisted the sails, Rich shut down the engine, and we enjoyed a great sail back and forth along the Maine coastline. The Texas flag was flying at the Bush compound at Walker's Point, which meant 'W' was in town. That was pretty cool, as half our group was from Texas! All-in-all a superb time - sunny, great sailing breeze, fine boat, friendly crew, super skipper. All the ingredients for a fantastic sailing experience! read more

A beautiful handmade boat that makes for a wonderful sailing experience. The Captain/Owner is very knowable and can either tell you a lot about sailing and boat making and the area or just let you enjoy a quiet sail. Everyone who is working on the crew is friendly and helpful even the nice old dog! He is such a good dog! They have water on the boat and life jackets, plus Extra blankets if it gets cold. There is also a restroom on board. You can bring your own food/drinks. It is really a relaxing and nice afternoon. read more

We experienced Kennebunkport for the first time over Columbus Day weekend and heard about Eleanor on Tripadvisor. We called, made a reservation and went on one of their charters. The experience was fantastic. The captain and his crew were fantastic, professional, organized yet relaxed. They were also very personable. When prompted, they explained the area and some history of the region and lobstering. The captain built the boat over two winters and his excellent craftsmanship and passion compliments perfectly the overall experience. The crew had extra blankets in the event the guests were cold and were very accommodating in every way reasonably possible. Our 2.5 year old son still talks about the experience including the captain's dog Hoss who joins in on the daily jaunts out to sea. I have already mentally committed myself to attend more Eleanor charters when we return back to Kennebunkport. It perfectly compliments the quintessential New England experience Kennebunkport offers. read more

Things did not start out good. We mailed a check to obtain a gift certificate prior to arrival of our vacation so our schooner ride would be paid for. A month went by and the check was never cashed. I called and the woman who answered the phone was the owners wife said she accidentally threw it away by accident. That sort of made me concerned because of the lack of attention to detail. We received the gift certificate and 4 months later we arrived for vacation and went on the schooner ride. It was awesome!! Relaxing and fun. The owner is not super friendly but the staff he has are informative and helpful and answered many questions. It was a lovely trip. If we ever go back we would do it again!! read more

Captain Rich "Woody" Woodman, with mates Ben & Sarah, gave us a delightful sailing experience off the rocky coast of Maine. Ours was a group charter and the experience will not be soon forgotten. The Captain and his crew were all quite personable and informative of the history, and local lore both of the Schooner Eleanor and everything nautical in the Kennebunkport area. Woody is to be commended for keeping his grandfather's boatyard alive with a winsome, can-do and welcoming atmosphere. read more

Not what we were expecting, but ultimately a very relaxing experience. The ship was gorgeous and we appreciated learning about the captain's experience in building the vessel. We were expecting more of a "history" or dialogue of what we were passing (Walker Point, church, lobstering, etc); however, if questions were asked, the crew was happy to answer. Would we go again? Probably not...but it was a nice outing for an afternoon in Kennebunkport. read more

Had a wonderful experience on our Schooner Eleanor sail. The Captain and crew were friendly and informed. They answered questions, provided historical information but didn't ruin the peacefulness of the sail by narrating the entire trip. That really made it. Most passengers were soaking in the quietness and zen feeling of sailing. Highly recommend - make reservations - bring cash or check. We didn't realize it was cash or check only and luckily one of friends had one check in her wallet to pay. GO GO GO to this - you won't regret it. read more

Very disappointing experience. We planned a surprise birthday party for my husband around going out on this boat -- understanding that it was of course somewhat dependent on the weather. We took a look at the website the day prior to our planned day and it had been updated saying that they would not be sailing. I had not received any phone call -- so I understood that to mean no additional unbooked boat tours would be planned. I called twice, but got the machine. My whole family drove the 2+ hours to Maine on the day of and I called at 8am to check in again. I was told the day was cancelled. I could not believe that this was decided the day prior (based on the website) and nobody had even called! They had called and emailed earlier in the weeks leading up to the planned charter to check in and confirm our numbers -- but nobody bothered to call when they posted online that they'd be cancelling. We had purchased food & beverages, my whole family came to go out on this boat, and this was booked weeks in advance. I understand the weather is unpredictable and that sometimes the boat can't go out -- but have a little respect and call your customers to cancel with notice if you know you won't be sailing! Very disappointed. read more
