We loved our excursion on the Schooner Olad with Matthew! Great boat and great captain!

I cannot guarantee that you will have the same GLORIOUS weather we had yesterday onboard the Olad but the entire sail was absolutely PERFECT. Our Captain, Jeff, and mate, Lillie, were so friendly and fun! We were lucky to be here for the Lobster Bake on Warren Island. If you can arrange that date, you will not be sorry! DELICIOUS! The entire process of booking to sailing was perfection. Staff was so good with communication which was key as we were coming from out of state with 21 people. They helped us order fantastic snacks for the sail and supplied a cooler and ice. The schooner Captain Jeff and his crew could not have been better. We were doing a little celebration of life with our family and Jeff was so wonderful. He made sure we were all safe and comfortable. read more

We took the Schooner Olad because it was the only company that had some seats available that evening for the sunset sail. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary so we were glad to get on a boat and sail. The hubs is enamored with sailing and said it was the highlight of the trip. He even got to help put up the sails. The staff on board were knowledgeable, friendly and answered our many questions about sailing and the area as this was our first visit to Maine and this area. We saw seals laying on a small rocky island, some porpoises coming up for air and a gorgeous sunset on our way back towards the harbor. We had outstanding weather but I was glad for a sweater I brought as I did get a bit of a chill on the way back even in August. read more

My wife and I set sail on a beautiful sunny and warm Wednesday afternoon. The Olad was only about 1/3 full. It would have been nice to have learned what the Olad advertised on their website. We must have had the wrong Captain because he did not mention one thing about how the sailboat operated, the mansions along the shore, the lighthouses in the distance, the small islands, the lobster boats, and other sailboats in the area. No information at all other than the safety regulations. Did we miss something on the website? The seating is very uncomfortable and if there was an emergency, the life preservers are under the seats by the Captain. It was a very quiet two hours with total strangers. However, the crew did talk to each other. For $60 a person, I expected much more. I wouldn't recommend it. There is another boat tour that is shorter and offers a tour of the area. Jump on that one! It's cheaper too! read more

This was one of my favorite experiences on our trip to Maine! We got lucky with the perfect day. The winds were not strong enough to sail at first but our captain found the wind as we got further out. It was comfortable, gorgeous weather, and so peaceful and beautiful out on the water! My tour on the Owl became a private excursion, since I was the only one aboard for the morning sail! Wilson was a great sailor and conversationalist. A highlight for me was getting close enough to a lobster boat to see the lobsters inside the trap. Wonderful time; would do this again! read more

Amazing cruise! We took a 2 hour cruise in the afternoon with friends and had lots of fun. Scenery was fabulous and weather mostly cooperated. The staff and crew were very helpful and safety conscious. Jacelyn was super helpful in letting us borrow a cooler for our beverages. I took my wife on a sunset tour for our honeymoon. Everything was perfect. The Olad and its crew were fantastic. 5 stars

Throughly enjoyed our trip on the OLAD, the crew was great. In our case we went out on the 9:45 AM cruise and saw quite a few seals. We were full which I believe is 22 people was a little tight. Fortunately we had good weather and a nice wind throughout the sail. If you do want to go out on a boat in Camden, best to enjoy it under sail instead of breathing motor fumes, the boat is over 90 years old and in great shape. read more

Town parking lot with robot and non-intuitive parking meters. Turn off for older users. Slanted viewpoint as I was a tourist guide in a tourist area but this was a painful 2 hours and no fault of the Captain and deckhand who very friendly and welcoming. HOWEVER, a boring voyage/trip. As the crew were local, and personable, the operators should supply a means for them to elaborate (so all can hear) on what's going and/or what the passengers are seeing. It appeared that most of the passengers were not local do we had no/zero/nada idea of what we were seeing. Combine that with sitting on hardwood with nothing to hang on to IF the weather went bad. Have no idea what the competition does but suspect this is the Camden norm so beware. read more

If you are looking to have a near death experience, this boat is for you. The captain caught such a tilt on the wind I almost slid off the boat. I had to ask for a life jacket. The captain had no regard for his passengers. He never once asked if we were okay or warned us to get to the other side of the boat. read more

The Owl is a one of a kind sailing ship that is comfortable and fast. Makes for a great day of sailing. But to make it fun and enjoyable requires a great captain. That is where the kudos go to. Captain Wilson was professional, friendly and super knowledgeable. He's fifth generation from Camden and the ocean and sailing are in his blood. We enjoyed everything about the Owl so much we only wish we could have gone out for a 3 hour sail instead of 2 hours. This is our second trip on the Owl. Last year we went out with Captain Tristian who was also a hoot! read more

FANTASTIC! Schooner Olad is our fave sail on entire Eastern Seaboard -- not just best of Maine. Though that too.
