But, if you're looking for the undertones of buzzing energy, an artsy/independent vibe, a place where people pause to literally and figuratively drink-it-all-in, this could be a good fit. If you're into snug coffee houses with live music nights, this might be it. I used to visit more often. I was a big fan of their cookies, soups, side salads and iced tea. When I was there more recently, all the foods/drinks were still there and still as I remembered them, but apparently the vibe shifted a little during Covid and the requisite remodel has remained. Now it feels a bit snugger, a little more hectic, a little less convenient to know where to be to wait for your food. The bakery cooler/display is no longer in front showing the foods of the day and the menu has never been very clear on its own (with so many options), it's a bit anxiety provoking just to find options and select a meal. I don't see the display of teas that I used to entertain myself or the open waiting area where I used to wait. And the staff I knew have since moved on and the new staff treat me like (what I am to them) a lost and confused stranger. Personally, I vibed with the old staff a little better and I liked the former lay-out better, but those are all personal preferences. This community hub is still buzzing, it's just somehow I'm now a bit out of place...like going back to high school or college, looking for a connection and it's not quite there. And, yet, I still encourage you to stop by. If a vegan/gluten free person is looking for a place to eat, I still have them check the College Hill Coffee and Oasis Coffee Shop menus first. If a new artist/musician (of any age) is trying to meet like minded people, I still suggest CHC as a place to start. If someone wants a cookie, hands down CHC is the place to go. CHC is like a busy YouTube coffee shop but with real people/food and without the obligatory cat. If you're looking for something less commercial than Starbucks and more energized than the calm plants and tones of Oasis Coffee Shop, this independent coffee nook within easy walking distance of Southwestern College might be exactly what you're looking for.

I live 2.5 hours away and decided to get up on a Saturday with my wife and drive there to give it a try. I'm a glazed donut type of guy and Ike's nailed it. One of the best I've ever had. The place was absolutely slammed. The drive through was backed up and lots of folks in and out of the dinning area. But they get you through quickly. Everyone was incredibly friendly. I mentioned I had drove 2.5 hours just to try this place out and the young lady taking my order asked if I wanted to meet Ike. Of course I said yes. He's as nice and genuine as he is on the videos. It's a classic small town donut shop serving the local community like they are family. I wish it were closer, but I'll definitely make the trek again. It was worth the 5 hours. Thanks Ike!
