It is absolutely beautiful out on the lake, and the views can't be beat. Here are some thoughts/recommendations for your visit: -The dock is NOT the place to fish with young children. It sways back and forth and kids are likely to fall in if they aren't watched carefully! Also be careful- there is lots of bird and deer poop on the dock! -It's hard to guess what might make the fish bite. Salmon eggs seemed to attract the most fish, but we still only caught one. We tried worms and fishing cheese as well. -The playground is really fun for kids, but the grassy area is filled with poop that make it hard to walk safely -The parking is so close to the lake, which was awesome!! Overall, we really enjoyed our experience here, and would recommend a visit! It's not a terribly far drive from Boise, either.

It is easily accesible by a ramp down from SR 55 and there is a decent sized parking lot. The park has restrooms, a playground and several picnic tables and shelters. It seems ideal for fishing if that's something that appeals to you as the Snake River is well stocked with rainbow trout and largemouth bass. He had no problem hopping between me, a newbie, and my dad, an experienced fisherman. It was great that both of us left the trip having learned even at drastically different skill levels. Forget the fact that I'm thoroughly convinced he's the most skilled and experienced Fly Fishing Guide on that river, he is an absolute blast to hang out with and fish with. It felt more like Fishing with a couple buddies than a service that I had hired to take me and my son out fishing with. Brad knew the river knew what to fish with and don't get me started on his lunches. if you're going to fish the Owyhee River and you do your research, you'll find Awahee Fly Fishing is the guide service to use. I was lucky enough to get Brad, but all of his guides are excellent. I hear from some friends, Brad's son Toby is really making a name for himself, what would you expect with a teacher like Brad? try them now I promise you will not be disappointed.

The visitor center was open and the workers inside were very nice and informative. The visitor center educates you on the nearby wildlife you can expect to see. Definitely recommend you stop by for a little hike.

There's a nice sandy beach where you can set up your things. If you need it there are shaded and unshaded picnic tables on the pavement and bike racks to lock up your bikes nearby. Lots of ducks and geese so watch for poop bombs but not that bad. Overall a clean park. We noticed scuba divers, fishermen, magnet fishers, kayakers, and lots of paddle boards. The water is pretty clear and clean and is on the cooler side. There are rentals available if you want to pick up a paddle board or bring your own. On the hot summer weekends, get there before 11am because there is little to no parking after noon.

Lake water level can be virtually non-existent or full depending on the Army Corps of Engineers and water runoff. If you're going for the boating or water recreation you should call ahead. Campground can be packed or empty and quiet depending on water level and time of year. If you're really lucky you will see one of the many owls who call the area home.
