this doctor is more of a salesman than a practicing doctor. He makes every new patient sit through a 1.5 hour video and presentation he does arguing about how bad insurance is and how you need to come to multiple visits and spend your own money out-of-pocket in order to get better. I really didn't want to write this, but I think it's important to share. This clinic only has 5-star Google reviews, something they point out right when you walk in, with a sign saying locals rate them highly. When I called, the receptionist was able to offer me a same-day appointment, which immediately made me a bit wary since that's rarely the case with most healthcare offices. I had read on their website about the X-ray and "nerve scan" that are part of the intake process, so I asked whether those were required. The receptionist gave me a vague but reassuring answer, suggesting I could discuss it with the doctor. When I arrived, a different receptionist (who was new and still learning procedures) checked me in. The head of the practice greeted me personally, which felt welcoming. The receptionist gave me a pamphlet about "subluxation" to read while waiting, which made it seem clear the X-ray and nerve scan were going to happen no matter what. When I asked again if they were necessary, I got another vague answer, and then the receptionist came back to quiz me on what I had just read, something I've never experienced in any medical office before! The doctor then took me for the "nerve scan." When I asked if I could opt out, he simply replied, "It's non-invasive," which didn't actually answer my question. Against my better judgment, I went along with it. The scan results (coincidentally or not) matched the problem areas I had already listed on my intake form. Then came the X-rays. Despite the scans producing instant results, I was told I needed to come back for another appointment to review the findings, and to bring my spouse "because it's a good idea." I've never been to a medical office that requested a spouse be present unless I was physically unable to get there or was being sedated, so this felt unusual. It seemed more like a tactic to reel in another person to "ooh" and "ahh" over the procedures and potentially become another patient caught up in the same money-making setup. I also wasn't really given the option to decline the scans. It seems the logic was that if they found a subluxation, they could help me, and the only way to find it was through an X-ray-- a clever way to make money right from the first visit. They're very sales-savvy here, using what appears to be patient education, a warm bedside manner, and confident language to build trust quickly. I can see how someone seeking relief might feel reassured by their professionalism and not think to question why certain procedures are necessary during the first appointment. The $77 fee was also odd. I received a generic-looking receipt that wasn't itemized, so I have no idea what it actually covered, even though I have insurance. The doctor mentioned that anything not covered could "go toward treatment," which didn't sit right with me. I didn't feel the process was very transparent, which was disappointing because they seem knowledgeable and clearly put effort into their presentation. Unless you want to pay thousands of dollars up front or feel completely pressured to sign up for a months-long commitment, AVOID Community Chiropractic. I don't care if Dr. Sclafani is the best chiropractor in the world - his method of "scare tactics" to pressure you into committing up front is insane. I went in for the introductory consultation and gave the place the benefit of the doubt after the receptionist quizzed me on some literature and brought me back to the "miracle room, where miracles happen every day." Weird. Dr. Sclafani took some xrays and told me to come back the next night to review them. Sounds fine, right? They took my insurance info and told me they'd see me the next day, and that I should bring my fiance with me. Thought that was odd but went with it. We both returned the next night to review my xrays and were subjected to another quiz, this time about a pamphlet that essentially said that my insurance wouldn't cover the care I needed and that chiropractic care is a long term need. Then we were shut in a room and made to watch a 20-minute video from 1985 about chiropractic care. All of this after I'd already told them how I'd been to many chiropractors in the past and believe in the treatment. OK - annoying "sell" but I was still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, though my fiance was rolling his eyes. Finally the Dr. came in and discussed my xrays, telling me that I had SEVERE issues (I'm 30 and athletic), and that my spine would continue to "decay" if I didn't seek immediate treatment. He then proceeded to outline his "recommendation" of a 1-year commitment for $3500 -- all to be paid up front that day. Our mouths dropped open at the mention of $3k and he stared at us as if expecting us to make a commitment on the spot. After I said that was a lot of money and I wasn't ready to commit to that, he reluctantly explained a few other options, all of which required hefty $ amounts, all paid up front. This without actually having any kind of adjustment to see if I actually liked his methods! Who would commit to that?! We said "thank you" and walked out - but not before being stopped by the receptionist and asked to pay $100 for the xrays, a cost that HAD NEVER BEEN MENTIONED BEFORE. I paid it and left because I just wanted to get out of there and found another chiropractor in Fairfield who is MUCH more normal/reasonable with a pay-per-visit option and no pressure. I called Community Chiropractic back to ask them when I could pick up my xrays since I paid for them already, and now they want to charge me $10 PER xray (on top of the $100 I already paid) to let me have them. I feel sorry for the poor people who have been suckered into this scam - it's businesses like this that unfortunately give chiropractic a bad reputation. I don't respond well to pressure and shady dealings. STAY AWAY! read more

Doctor Sclafani is a gifted and highly skilled chiropractor. I was recommended to him by a relative. I had such bad neck pain and headaches it was affecting my daily life. I had no knowledge of chiropractic I was desperate, medication wasn't working and I had nothing to lose. Within weeks I was feeling better the pain had subsided and I was not using any medication. I still go for my adjustments. He does several re-exams during your treatment and monitors your progress. After visits to Dr. Len, I cancelled my appointment. One of the best decisions I have ever made!! Dr.Sclafani is a highly awarded doctor with many plaques for his achievements in this field of study! Initially I came to my boyfriend's apt (he is over 6 ft tall, I am 5 ft), & he has been going for over 2 weeks now and he just loves it so much. Originally I was skeptical and wasn't going to take the FREE referral that my boyfriend got, but I went anyway,despite my crazy busy schedule and it turns out that all of this talk is factual !!!! I am a committed member as well, and I referred my father, who is also a committed member, and it is just amazing to see all of us going to see this doctor and the I improvements in our body, behaviors, and energy levels. The healing process does take time and though 6 months to a year may seem long, it really isn't in the long term of the span of a lifetime. (: any more questions, please feel free to comment!!
