Collin McKinney is buried here. If you haven't noticed yet, he is the namesake to both McKinney, Texas and Collin County Texas. This beautiful historic cemetery is located beyond the railroad tracks, and is full of beautiful statues. The place is taken care of (grass mowed, dead flowers removed, ect) and I always see lots of walkers every night getting exercise. The groundskeepers obviously take care of the deceased.

His career in the the House of Representatives spanned 48 years, 1931-1961. That includes 17 years as the Speaker of the House. He was affectionately know as "Mr. Sam" and passed away in Bonham, on November 16, 1961. His funeral was held at The First Baptist Church in Bonham. In attendance at this small town church was then President John F. Kennedy, and former past Presidents, Dwight Eisenhower, and Harry S. Truman. They attended the funeral and the burial at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham. As a child I remember visiting my grandparents burial site's, as well as Mr. Sam. Same routine every visit. This visit was for me, myself, and I. I felt the need to visit and pray. I was able to visit my grandparents, my great grandparents, and great great grandparents. And of course Sam Rayburn. Visit this historical cemetery, and the Sam Rayburn Library, his museum, and beautiful home. And remember as you visit, I have exceptional family members resting here in God's care.

I was looking for cremation funeral plans for my oldest brother, and ARMY veteran, who was at the Clyde W. Cosper VA State Home in Bonham, about 45 mintes away. I had all the paperwork and the meeting went really smoothly. Chaz explained everything to me, even when I asked him about having a VETERAN HONOR Service at the National Cematery in Dallas. Chaz took care of everything and removed me from the burden of that task. I felt very comfortable working out all the details of the cremation and funeral plans beforehand. My brother passed on June 7, 2026 at 7pm. The VA State home called American Funeral Services and they were there within the hour to pick up my brother's body. So professional on how that handled removing him from his room to the van outside. Draping an American Flag over his body they wheeled him out in an incredible honor to him. The VA State Home night staff followed us out the building while playing TAPS and....talk about a moment. On Funeral day, Chaz and I planned to meet at the National Cemetary that day. Chaz was very earliy and my brother's remains were laid to rest. I felt so honored and blessed that day.... He was able to salvage it and restore it when no one else could also he gave me great pointers on how to ship this portrait to surprise my mother with this restored portrait of her mother.
