Often good citizens moving from other parts of the country can't feel or see our traditions that run just as deep as the northeast and California. It's not easy these days to scratch the surface and uncover the old Texas but places like Owens are testements to traditions we have in this country of formally and with great respect,seeing our friends and loved ones on to the next stop. Three generations of Owens have tended to four generations of my families funerals. These include my great great grand father, his son my great great grandfather, great grandfather, grand father and grand mother and the recent passing of my younger sister. The funeral home has now been bought by a larger Dallas corporation signaling the end to generations of tradition in many families going back to the pioneers. I'll miss these small town traditions. But, nothing more could be expected of Owens and the long envyable record of professional undertaking they established.

I was looking for cremation funeral plans for my oldest brother, and ARMY veteran, who was at the Clyde W. Cosper VA State Home in Bonham, about 45 mintes away. I had all the paperwork and the meeting went really smoothly. Chaz explained everything to me, even when I asked him about having a VETERAN HONOR Service at the National Cematery in Dallas. Chaz took care of everything and removed me from the burden of that task. I felt very comfortable working out all the details of the cremation and funeral plans beforehand. My brother passed on June 7, 2026 at 7pm. The VA State home called American Funeral Services and they were there within the hour to pick up my brother's body. So professional on how that handled removing him from his room to the van outside. Draping an American Flag over his body they wheeled him out in an incredible honor to him. The VA State Home night staff followed us out the building while playing TAPS and....talk about a moment. On Funeral day, Chaz and I planned to meet at the National Cemetary that day. Chaz was very earliy and my brother's remains were laid to rest. I felt so honored and blessed that day.... He was able to salvage it and restore it when no one else could also he gave me great pointers on how to ship this portrait to surprise my mother with this restored portrait of her mother. It was very emotional seeing my vision come to life. No one else was able to help me but Mark did. Please reach put to him with any questions. You have pertaining to getting a job done because he's a guy for it and he's great with timing. He did this in such a short period of time. I was so surprised he even went above and beyond by adding a new hook on the back and there were some areas that were chipped and he was able to glue and make the frame look at good as new. We recently drove through Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge and did the self-guided audio tour…read moreavailable on their website. Entry to the refuge is completely free, and the tour was well-marked and easy to follow. The audio provided just the right amount of information to keep all of us -- parents and a 12-year-old -- engaged while driving. You can simply play the audio as you drive without needing to stop. The signage throughout the refuge is helpful for identifying different bird species. We didn't make it to the visitor center or explore any other areas this time, but we plan to on our next visit. If you're in the area and have a spare half-hour, we definitely recommend giving Hagerman a try!
