Wow - where to start? Kolby was such a great career coach! I came to him because I was burned out…read morefrom my last job, burned out from the general trajectory my career had taken, and needed help switching and figuring out how to do that. Kolby was really systematic in his approach. First, he helped identify what I was truly passionate about. Second, he was almost a therapist in the sense that he addressed the work insecurities I had. Once I was on board and believed that I could do the work I wanted to do and do it well, he edited my resume and cover letter and LinkedIn profile. Then we used the remaining sessions to do some interview preparation, and really worked on telling my story in an interesting way, and ensuring that the interviewers understood it too. What I like about his approach was that he taught me that interviews are just as much about me interviewing the company as it is about them interviewing me. It was a mindshift for me to be picky and protective about where I want to work too. I loved showing up to class because, more often than not, I was working through some real-life challenges, and the tools we practiced helped me navigate them in real time. The program didn't just teach me how to coach--it brought a whole new awareness to how I listen, how I approach conversations, and how I show up for myself and others. It made me realize that I had been stuck in 'fixer' mode--always trying to manage things, always trying to solve problems--but in a way that was draining me, leaving me with less capacity to be fully present. I remember a specific moment when I was going through something tough, and I had to coach myself using the very skills I was learning. That's when it hit me--this wasn't just about getting a certification or building skills to help others. This was about shifting how I live, how I listen to myself, and how I manage that fixer within me. It was about recognizing that I deserve the same care and attention that I give to others. That personal transformation has stayed with me long after the program ended.
