After we left, they charged my wife's card after we checked out for a 3rd room that we never asked for and never used. We called to correct it but, the staff refused to refund us for the room they added to our bill (after we had left) and told us, "Well someone has to pay for it." This is unacceptable for any place of business and I'm in absolute disbelief that this would be allowed at a well known hotel chain.

This is my go to hotel when I visit family and friends in the area . It is very clean and inexpensive with that old school vibe . Lots of pine trees and grass make it feel more like home than a regular hotel . If you stay here , make sure you get one of the King Suites on either side of the pool . These are the newer rooms and only cost a few dollars more . I checked out one of the regular rooms this time by the office side and it was older and not very nice , almost like a different hotel . I would say the one review that said he had bed bugs or his room was dirty was in one of these . I went back to the office and got my usual King Suite on the left side of the pool . I have stayed in that same building 3 different years , 2014 , 2019 , and this time . I did notice the pool was dirty this time and looked like it wasn't in working condition . I have never used the pool , but it is usually very clean and nice . I always come here in the Fall , so I'm not swimming in the cold . Most of the other hotels in the area are like $90 and up , but this place is like $70 for a King Suite and well worth it . The beds are comfortable and is good for a couple nights stay . Close to town for restaurants and stores . It's very quite here and they have a chair outside your room if you want to sit outside . There are also picnic tables .

Everyone from the front desk to housekeeping was nice, patient and helpful with any requests that I needed. Having the grandkids with us was a joy but also treacherous on our room. So every morning I made sure to organize the rubbish and towels to make it easier for housekeeping. It was pleasant talking with the young lady in the morning. My grandkids saw their first snowfall. Bugs on the ceiling, bugs and hair in the sink, trash and stains on the floor upon my arrival and one loud A/C unit that sounded like a freight train. The shower had some kind of slippery film on the floor, which about wiped me out when I stepped in. The mattress had a major sag in it, and was uneven and old-feeling. I woke up more exhausted then when I went to bed. The trash cans didn't have the liners in them; I had to do it myself. The Continental breakfast was weak; runny eggs, previously-frozen biscuits, and not a single meat choice. I've had far better complimentary breakfasts at much cheaper hotels. Sorry, but this place is NOT worth what they're charging. Completely unsatisfactory visit in every imaginable way possible. I should've made the trip to Rockingham, instead. Far better hotels, for less.

Somehow the reservation got booked without it. Not really sure how that happened. But I did have to cancel my reservation. I called 3 days in advance to see what if anything could be done and I was willing to pay a fee to do so. The hotel staff were nice and friendly about it stating that the owners under no circumstance would allow a cancellation and that I would be stuck paying for the room whether I show up or not. Somehow this just seems like theft if you ask me. I get that they don't want to give a refund, but they are not going to be providing a service to me either and with the advance notice it shouldn't even be legal to not refund or at least partially refund. It's not even typical practice to charge a hotel guest until checkout anyway so it just all seems wrong. I will do my best in the future to avoid booking at Quality Inn

He then informed me that the rooms wouldn't be ready for another hour. No problem. Because i was out of town i had no where to go and had sit at a public place until it was time. When i arrived i went back to the window to get a room. I was hungry, tired and honestly just wanted to get a room because i am a 22 y.o. black FM and was in a sketchy enviornment alone. This time when i returned an older gentlmen apporched the window i'm assuming the father.He had a very rude and nasty disposition. When i told him what i wanted he handed me the information card to fill out then he started questioning me in a rude manner about "where my car was? and why i didn't park under the deck? saying "all motels are made the same." i told him i was parked near the steps (like a few hours ago) not to far from the parking deck.He just kept going on and on.At that moment i felt like he was ridiculing me like i was his child when i am in fact a paying customer and an adult. I did not find that proffesional at all. When it came time for him to charge my card he swiped once because it declined,he brought it back to the window. I knew i had more than enouph funds and sometimes cards and card readers act funny. You may have to try more than once(i'm a cashier), but when i asked if he could swipe again? He said "No come back with cash." very rudely. At that point i have been waiting on a room for 3 hours now. On top of that he kept my Liscense until i came back and when i did, he greeted me with a smart remark "Why did it take you so long?". Once in the room we killed about four roaches within two hours. I didn't stay all night like i had plan to but what more would you expect from a $50 dollar room? I took my L and returned home. I am never going back there! I at least could have gotton good customer service, at that point of our interaction i no longer felt safe there anyway. BEWARE!
