Since my building does not offer recycling services (we're still in the South and way behind the…read morecurve sometimes), I have to either hire someone or haul it myself. I prefer this center since it's somewhat of a nice drive, fairly easy to access, open 24/7/365(6), and located directly next to a park if I want some green space time, too, thereby making my trip efficient. It's usually cleanish, but in my last few visits the place looks more like a dumping ground; specifically the cardboard bins. They are stuffed and overflowing to the point where folks just pile their cardboard on the ground next to the containers. (Unless it's me who wants to find every tiny space in the bins to shove the cardboard into.) Perhaps this is due to the increase in ship-to-home? Regardless, it's a problem that I've not yet seen a resolution to. I've actually been delaying hauling my recyclables knowing that the holidays have likely only added to the frustration of bin availability. Since this center is located in the back corner of the lot for McGavock High School, there is ample parking for unloading recyclables. However, turning into the lot from the road can be a bit tight. It's just a weird turn for some odd reason. Also, when the buses are running for the school year, keep an eye out for them as they will come flying into this lot for overnight parking. Since I last took photos, there are updated signs to instruct what can and cannot be placed into the bins. I recently noticed on the Nashville.gov website that the recyclables list has changed. I was sad to learn that some of the plastic containers that are 100% recyclable the city can no longer take only because they do not have a buyer for those specific items. I also learned some of my paper pieces were too small, so now when I scrub my mail I make sure to take care to leave the paper in larger pieces so they're recyclable. Anyway, the list is very well assembled and incredibly detailed. What's the point in recycling if we don't do it correctly? Go check it out.

I have been a Waste Management customer for years. I rarely ever look at my bill. I did look at it…read morethis month. My wife and I recently moved to a location that does not have a trash service from any company. After speaking with multiple neighbors many committed they would use a service if one became available. I tried multiple times to contact Waste Management to inquire about possibly starting service in my new location. Unfortunately, I was never able to reach a live person. While driving on an extended business trip I literally sat on hold for over 4 hours and no one ever answered the phone. Another reason I rated them so low is because of how their costs continue to creep up without any notice. Here's an example. On my bill it says I could potentially be charged an "Energy Surcharge" if we have an over abundance of garbage or too many large items. After reviewing our bill we have been issued an "Energy Surcharge" for the life of our account. Admittingly there probably have been times our trash can was over full, however it has not been every week for 6 years. The Energy Surcharge was recently raised in January 2026 from $22 to $35. It jumped by almost 50% without notice. That is unacceptable. Lastly, the days that it was over full were likely the week following holidays. During holiday weeks I would frequently get text messages from WM stating that my trash service would be delayed by a day due to the holiday. Someone forgot to tell our driver because they would ALWAYS come on the normal scheduled day and sure enough, our trash can was not at the road because of the message I received. The couple of times I was able to ask the helper about it he would respond "I don't know bro, I don't text you". Nice WM. The fact that the prices continue to climb without additional services or notice is not ok. I cannot get ANYONE to answer the customer service line is also unacceptable. Moving forward if trash service is offered in our new area I will use Republic Services. At least they will call me back.

What makes it great is that it is my one stop recycling center. They offer bins for cardboard, plastic, aluminum, and glass. Plus the Goodwill drop off truck is right there. Perfect! Places to recycle are not abundant on the West side, so I'm really glad to have found it! My only complaint; they are only open until 5:00 on week days and I can never stop in after work. Even 6:00 would be reasonable for me to get there with plenty of time! Plus they have limited hours on Sunday, so you really need to get in on Saturday if at all possible. Now that I've gone green, I just can't go back! :)

It's hard to recycle ... period. There's so many rules to follow, and they differ based on what…read morecity and/or county you're in. Not to mention, if you live in an apartment, you most likely don't have access to a recycle bin that you can roll out to the curb every two weeks. However, spaces like the East Convenience Center are working hard to make recycling easier. After the holidays, I had a mountain of cardboard, along with various other recyclables (plastic, metal, glass ... all of the things). This center is free to use once per day for Davidson County residents - you just pull up during operating hours and hand over your ID to prove your residency. The folks at the booth are friendly as can be, and they've been happy to answer any questions I had, especially on my first visit. I have yet to encounter a long wait to drop off my materials, but I've heard Saturdays can get a little busy. Pro tip - pre-sort your recyclables beforehand to keep your visit quick. Glass, plastic, metal, and paper (excluding cardboard) are all located in easy-to-access bins. If you pull further into the center, there's a separate section for cardboard. The East Convenience Center does allow other types of waste disposal ... you'll want to reference their website for specifics (and it might have a cost associated with it, depending on what it is you're dumping). I'm thankful to have this easy-to-use recycling center so close to my home ... and can't wait to see the city continue to expand and improve spaces like this.

There's a reason they have dozens of 1 star reviews (and more that say they wish they could give…read more0). LISTEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWERS. STAY FAR AWAY FROM RR. Horrible service, horrible management, horrible lack of consistency, horrible communication, and completely abhorrent treatment of customers. (Multiple reviewers have been called liars and given the same BS line about missed trash pickups being their fault, etc.) The pennies you save are not worth it. Believe everyone who has said "you get what you pay for" with RR. Chose ANY other service.

We recently cancelled our service (in the greater Nashville area) due to poor trash pick-up service…read moreand poor customer service. We had switched to RR when they began servicing our neighborhood because it saved us $15 per quarter. We figured trash pick-up is trash pick-up, and we didn't see any sense paying more for this kind of service. Boy were we wrong. We ultimately cancelled because our trash was not picked up the week of Memorial Day... and then when it was picked up the following week (and we had 2 weeks of trash overflowing out of the trash can), they only took what was in the can. I don't necessarily have an issue with them having a policy of only taking what is in the can (although their competitors are happy to take extra trash sitting outside of the can), but I found it a bit outrageous they wouldn't take the extra trash when they didn't come the week before. Calling their office is impossible. They do not answer the phone, and they do not return calls promptly (if they return them at all). I even called and left messages with folks at their corporate office since those numbers are online, but none of them returned my call. I emailed our local office and finally got a reply that way, but it was full of excuses instead of taking any responsibility for the issues we were facing. We had already decided a while back that we would cancel our service if we ran into any more issues, as we'd experienced missed pickups in the past. In those cases, we were at least able to finally talk to someone and get a credit on our account for the missed service. In this case, they made no such offer and informed me that we had a good driver on our route, that he said the can wasn't out there in the first week, and that they didn't have to pick up the extra trash in the second week. This is NOT how you take care of your customers. I responded that we wanted to cancel and receive a refund for the 2 weeks we didn't receive service in full, plus the 3 remaining weeks on our account that we had pre-paid for. I was told they do not issue refunds. WHAT?! I have never encountered any service provider who does not refund the amount you pre-paid if you cancel early. We had signed no contract. There was no written documentation on their website or provided to us that indicates they don't issue refunds. Ultimately, I disputed it with our credit card company, so we got our money back. However, it's just another example of RR's poor customer service and the lack of their interest in doing the right thing. While they confirmed our cancellation, they refused to tell me a day that the cart would be picked up. I was told it'd be sometime in 7-10 business days. I found this a little absurd as well, but whatever. Lo and behold, 10 business days passed (our cart sitting outside and violating our HOA rules the whole time, not that RR cared when I told them that would be the case) and they didn't pick it up. This time my husband emailed and said we expected it picked up immediately, and miraculously several different people responded and the cart was removed that day. On top of all of this, they do not communicate with their customers at all. Does your pickup day fall on a holiday? Well, you just have to guess/hope for the best that it will be picked up that week. In some cases, they still come on the holiday. In some cases, they bump you to be picked up on Saturday. (With us having a Monday pickup, this was ridiculous, as it meant going almost 2 weeks without pickup, and then having 2 pickups within 2 days. Their competitors simply bump everyone by one day when there is a holiday, which makes so much more sense.) Regardless of how they handle the holiday, you won't know because they don't send any emails or mail about it, they don't put the information on their website, they don't leave a note the week before on your cart... all things that their competitors do. We have switched to a competitor and are more than happy to pay a bit more for a company that 1) communicates what to expect to their customers, especially when there is a holiday, 2) is willing to pick up if you have a little extra trash outside of your can (within reason, of course), 3) answers their phone and works to keep their customers satisfied, and 4) actually picks up your trash and doesn't argue with you about it if there is an issue. I'm not sure why it doesn't seem like they care that customers are unhappy (as evidenced by the many, many poor reviews online as well as the personal experience we had). If they going to keep conducting business this way, then all I can say is that if you have a choice, DO NOT USE THEM!

If you want to sell to them, the address is on South 2nd Street about a block away from the address listed here (google maps says it's about 591 South Second Street.) As a first timer, you'll park in the lot, stand near your vehicle and wait for someone to get you a pre-sale ticket. For me, they then provided a dumpster for my rather hysterically small load (I wanted a shopping cart) and took it to weigh the thing. While it's being weighed, you go to the window next to it, and give them your ID and thumb print. A ticket will be given to you and they can mail you a check or you can come back and pick it up another day. Prices are meh on purchases, but it's not like there's a huge availability of places to go. Yes, this is that giant metal/car dump you see when you pass south/east of Nashville. It looks and smells a little rough, but everyone was nice and after learning where the signs were that told all of this information I managed to get through pretty quickly.
