Dr. Afshari performed a bilateral mastectomy on me for breast cancer, and an additional surgery due to a stubborn healing issue. Dr. Afshari is, by far, head and shoulders above not just any surgeon, but ANY doctor I have ever encountered. He truly is the most skilled surgeon whose work I have seen, and he is absolutely the most kind, empathetic and caring doctor I have ever met. He gives the utmost care and thought to the whole person, not just the 'surgery patient'. This journey has been very difficult, trying, and challenging, but Dr. Afshari's skill and compassion have been the underpinnings of my successfully completing and winning this challenge. Dr. Afshari surrounds himself with an incredible office team who also take on the role of friend, caregiver, and shoulder to lean on. The professionals in this office join you in your challenges, treat you with the utmost respect, and you are never just a patient on the phone or in the office, you are cared for like family. I would highly recommend the Afshari team to everyone - and I have! The only negative thing I have, is now that 'my team' has successfully gotten me 'there', I will no longer be seeing them. I was in the workers comp system when I was referred to Dr. Salahi after a failed back surgery and he was the 1st Dr. in 4 years that cared for me as an individual with compassion and empathy and worked diligently to find a solution for my chronic pain. Dr. Balbona caused my non-alchoholic cirrhosis. A painful, complex, protracted death sentence…read more April 2024, he ordered an abdominal CT scan looking for adrenal tumors to support his idea that my sudden cortisol spike and high blood pressure was caused by cortisol/adrenal tumors. A.K.A. Cushings. Dr. Balbona LOVES telling you how smart he is and if you ask questions he literally answers "Leave that to me." When I asked "what kind of tumors" that's the answer I got. Wrong. My adrenals were normal. But on the SAME REPORT the CT scan noted "Cholelithiasis. Mild nodularity liver noted which could represent cirrhotic morphology. Consider corrolation with lab values." He ignored that. Left a message through the secretary the CT scan was"normal". Also ignored kidney stones, duodenal diverticulum and some atherosclerotic calcifications of the aorta and branch arteries. Never even discussed it with me or called my attention to it. Never ordered subsequent testing or follow up. So thanks for nothing. Leave it to YOU? While you were busy chasing some non-existant disease and bugging me to let you suppress my cortisol (which resolved itself after an ablation). THEN I see this CT scan on my Continuation of Care document that I didn't even know existed, one year later - I provided this CT to a gastro doctor since I THOUGHT I had gallbladder or hiatal hernia and Imagine my SHOCK when she announced "You have cirrhosis!" Go to Baptist Network. To a GROUP of organized, methodical, doctors who are actually following a PROCESS and part of a much better network than St. Vincent's - another nightmare. Baptist, who dictate written visit summaries, test result interpretations, and communicate in writing with all your medical team in real time THEN upload everything into a great functional portal. Not this little guy hiding in his little office who doesn't even want to discuss your conditions, barely makes eye contact, and only takes pride in his fake brilliance. And on top of all that, even if you pay for concierge service you get nothing but the same 15 minutes, having to repeat your entire history every visit, and his cell number. He has only a vague inkling about your conditions or tests prescribed you have to UPDATE HIM. You still have to play telephone through unintelligent staff who literally give you the wrong information. "Your bloodwork was normal come back in 3 months." NO it wasn't. The Cortisol Dex Suppression test FAILED. As you can see from his glowing Google reviews, he caters to people who are in search of "feelings" not life saving medical results.

We have found two other AO Drs in our area, but their level of care just does not compare to that of Dr. Mark Pierce Chiropractic. Their more all-natural approach to chiropractic care (Atlas Orthogonal) was known to my husband but foreign to me. I instantly felt relaxed and comfortable with Dr. Pierce. My X-rays showed that my spine was indeed out of alignment, most likely due to everyday living - poor posture and sleep habits. And Dr. Pierce instantly noticed that my atlas was "red hot" and asked if I ever felt discomfort there (at the base of the neck). I said, "Of course, all of the time. I get migraines at least twice a month, but I thought that was just me." Well after my first adjustment, I felt relief in that area for the first time since I was a young teenager. I had become so used to that constant pain and migraines that I did not know what it felt like to be relieved of that pressure. We continued to see Dr. Pierce frequently until my alignment held (the body will kick it out and go back to its old ways if not properly maintained at first). And I am more aware of my body now and can tell when I am out of alignment and need an adjustment. I used to have irritable bowl and this has cured that as well. I was presented with my options and ultimately decided to have surgery to repair my injuries. I was transferred to Dr. Kaplan and he again presented me with my options. I decided to continue moving forward with the surgery. At no time was I pressured into having the surgery. For my lifestyle and health it made sense to move forward. Fast forward to surgery day - The surgery center is in the same building and is well maintained. I was introduced to several people who would be participating in the surgery and each one confirmed with me why I was there. It was clear patient care and safety was a top priority. Follow up appointments were a breeze. They email any paperwork required prior to the appt. And after check in the most I ever waited was 5 mins in the big waiting room or in the actual room. I saw either the PA and Surgeon during these appts. Both were professional and never made me feel rushed and felt comfortable asking questions. I was in and out in less than 30 mins from check in to check out. I had a positive experience from start to finish with this group of Dr.s and would recommend them. There are several Dr.s with different specialties available. I did see one of the foot Dr.s several years ago, can't recall his name, and did not have the same positive experience.
